I was more expecting this to be about G and have that fuck awesome video of Henry Rollins' Liar.  Michelle doesn't really provide for much entertainment when he's greasing up the joke-post pole as much as he has been lately.

That was a bad version. It's lacking the Beatles backing harmony and Paul's voice was much better when he was younger.

Japanese drone and sludge rock gods Boris and the master of erotic suffering and noise Merzbow released a cover version of I am the Walrus, and it takes a massive dump all over the Beatles version.  And that's one of the Beatles songs I like, too.

It kicks ass and you should check it out.  They tear shit up:

I can upload it when I get home.  They Boris up the song and turn it into a dreamy, droning masterpiece with oscillators crashing waves and texturized laptop-fu.  It's more Boris than Merzbow, but Merzbow lets you know he's there.  It clocks in at like 7 to 8 minutes.

The Beatles seemed to have agreed with you because they never released it as a single.  Ironically, the Overlanders released a cover version of it which then garnered a Grammy Sony of the Year Award.  I got this info off Wiki.

I Am the Walrus is one of those Beatles songs that simply can't be topped. It's actually pretty damn rare to hear a Beatles cover that even touches the original

Well, Merzbow is inarguably this generation's John Lennon, so naturally he can outdo the Beatles.

Many of the Beatles singles never came from their studio albums. They often didn't take songs off their albums and then release them as singles. Some of their early singles were taken off their albums, but that's because they flooded the US markets with their catalogue of music. Magical Mystery Tour and Yellow sub had a number of singles on the albums, but they were previously released songs and the albums were soundtracks. Some of the songs from Let It Be were released as singles, but the Beatles didn't know if they'd ever actually release the album.

Beatles released songs like Rain, We Can Work It Out, Penny Lane, Strawberry Fields Forever, All You Need Is Love, Baby You're a Rich Man, Lady Madonna, The Inner Light, Hey Jude, Revolution (the well known version), Ballad of John and Yoko, Old Brown Shoe without the songs being on studio albums. Though they were later put on various albums or they wereput on compilations well after the band broke up.

And since we're talking about Beatles covers I'd say Ray Charles' version of Eleanor Rigby is the absolute worse Beatles cover ever put to wax. Way to butcher a classic :-\

He also did one of the 5 trillion covers of Yesterday.

It's amazing how many Beatles covers there are. I dont think I've even heard 2% of them.

Bush knocked down the towers

No, but he did invade Iraq under false pretenses, killing countless people and wasting $500 000 000 000 in the process.
