Title: Your Top 5 Super Hero Movies?
Post by: Cheebs on May 07, 2007, 11:44:24 AM
Because these type of things always de-evolve into arguing if stuff like V for Vendetta or Sin City count I'll make it simple:
Your top 5 SUPER HERO movies based on comics from either DC or Marvel.

Mine:
1. Batman Begins
2. Superman: The Motion Picture
3. Spider-Man 2
4. Batman
5. X2: X-Men United

It HAS to be DC or Marvel?  'Cuz if it were just superhero movies, my list would be:

1. Unbreakable
2. Darkman
3. Spider-Man 2
4. Batman Begins
5. Superman

V for Vendetta and Road to Perdition aren't super hero movies.

Ah. Super HERO movies. Blech. Fuck that, it should be comic book movies in general.

Super hero movies are so bland with a few exceptions. Fuck that cheebs. Terrible taste. Plus, how is V in V for Vendetta not a super hero?
Title: Re: Your Top 5 Super Hero Movies?
Post by: Ichirou on May 07, 2007, 12:01:06 PM
The point of the list is to eliminate stuff like Ghost World and American Splendor that are based off of comic books but aren't superhero stuff.

V's not a superhero, he's an anarchist.  In the comics, anyway.  He's not out there fighting crime like Batman.

Fuck that. Super hero movies for the most part suck ass. Why don't we do a "which one of your turds is your favorite color" poll?

Who cares, he's bad ass.

Himuro because every time there is a super hero thread people end up listing stuff like V, and Road to Perdition. I want just super hero!

I agree with Cheebs.  Also, outside of the cinematography, I didn't care for Road to Perdition at all.

Post by: Cheebs on May 07, 2007, 12:12:25 PM
I have nothing against those movies, I am just curious what people's favorite super hero movies are. In a top 5 sci-fi movie thread you wouldn't go around listing mafia movies just because you like them more and argue it's ok since they are from the same "medium".

1) Spider-man 2
2) Batman Begins
3) Spider-man
4) Hellboy
5) Superman Returns *

*I haven't seen the first two Supermens in so long that I can't remember them enough to put them over Returns but when I rewatch them I'm sure the first one will go where Returns is on the list so lower your weapons, no need for violence

Brandon FTW

I haven't seen the first Superman movie in at least 14 years so I don't remember it at all.

I enjoyed Superman Returns far more than most. It'd probably crack my top 10

Yup.  Get's fairly unwarranted hate.  Seeing as though I've never liked Superman to begin with, I thought Returns was a perfectly fine movie, and I didn't have to be bothered on how closely it was written to the original movies and comics.  I was much mroe relaxed going into it and I liked it a lot.

So for me:

1. Batman Begins
2. Spider-Man 2
3. X-Men 2
4. Superman Returns
5. Spider-Man

1. Batman Begins
2. Unbreakable (does it count?)
3. Sin City
4. Xmen 2
5. Spiderman 2 (after I see 3, it might go here :hyper)

Anyone who puts the first Xmen movie in their top 10 should be shot.

what 1 was great but I liked 2 better.  I almost always like sequels better though just because I don't need to be introduced to the characters again.

I enjoyed it, it is not amazing but it is a damn good origin film for the x-men, a comic franchise that is near impossible to do a origin film for.

yeah it did. I wouldn't give it above a 7.5, for reasons like those! But it's enjoyable.
