Title: Super Hero Thread Number 45: What One Are You Most Looking Forward To?
Post by: Cheebs on May 08, 2007, 08:43:24 AM
And no Himu just traditional super hero films! As awesome as Watchmen...etc I am not counting them in this.

Marvel annouces like 50 films a year so I only included those that will be coming in the next century and those that are getting traction. Half the movies they annouce go nowhere so I limited it to the ones that are getting studio backing and are moving along.  Stuff like Deathlok and the like are either years and years off or will never happen.

IRON MAN

That's it. Unless they get Sam and Co. back for S-M4, and Arad BACKS THE FUCK UP.

EDIT: I picked Iron Man, The Man of Steel, and S-M4.

Raimi isn't coming back, I mean Sony is already talking about recasts. Apparently they want Mandy Moore for MJ. Before I even get interested in SM4 I want to know who Peter will be played by and who the director is.

And I am quite interested in Man of Steel. Singer is saying it will be much more action oritented with Superman fighting super villians and compared it to what Khan was to Star Trek The Motion Picture. And with  critical reaction to Returns (though I enjoyed it) he had his ego taken down a few notches so he'll be a better director I feel.

Fixed.

Anyways, here's Bloodwake's Hype-O-Meter

1. DARK KNIGHT UNF UNF
2. IRON MAN THAT COSTUME YES
3. Incredible Hulk... hey, Edward Norton. Good cast.

Any hope for Hulk is crushed by the director, for me. Its sort of the same for Iron Man, but its cast has won me over, and I inexplicably have a feeling that Favreau is going to deliver.

That's why Hulk isn't on the top of my list.

I would say number four would be Man of Steel.

Everything about Hulk worries me. A mediocre at best director and they want to make it a soulless over the top pure action film it seems. And it is written by the writer of X-Men 3 and Electra.

I chose the Hulk because I love the idea of Edward Norton in a superhero movie and I'm sure he'll mess around with the script (he's famous for that).  I chose Ant-Man because I'd love to see Edgar Wright's take on the material, I have a feeling it's not going to be Blankman.  I chose Iron Man because everything I keep seeing about it makes me more and more excited.

I didn't choose The Dark Knight because I'm sure it's going to be quality but I'm not hyped for it quite yet.  I'm sure it'll move up the hypeometer once it's closer to being released.

I picked the first 3 on the list. I shouldn't have to explain why I chose Batman and Iron Man. I thought Fantastic Four was entertaining. I expect the sequel to be just as good, if not better.

The Dark Knight for obvious reasons. Iron Man for reasons already stated. Hulk because I'm a Edward Norton fanboy.

It's going to be an origin story, apparently.  Brian Cox and Hugh Jackman return, as does Sabretooth (though someone else may be playing him).

Hey now, is The Man of Steel just a temporary name?  Cause I like it.  Haven't heard anything about it, but I'll say that's one I'm looking forward to.

Besides my top two IRON MAN AND THE DARK KNIGHT UNNNNF

I was hoping Wolverine would have been wrapped around his Japanese mini-series. It's pretty distinguished mentally-challenged to revisit his origin story when X2 hit the highlights of most of it.

The Dark Knight, hands down. It's one of those can't miss movies imo. It's going to be awesome, period. I can't say that about any of the other movies on that list. Willco revealed some info in the Iron Man thread that made me feel much better about it, but I'm still iffy. The video of the suit in motion left some to be desired, and I can't help but think it'll look ridiculous when he's running around. Crossing my fingers nonetheless.
