well he already bought a g/f....

MBPs cost a lot more than 1000 bucks.
Also, FoC, current gossip says that they'll get bumped either at WWDC (in June or July, I forget), or at Leopard launch, in October. I'd bet on WWDC.

No see he guilt triped his girl and now she's gonna buy him a MBP with the money she gets from donating her eggs.

Uh oh, is FoC accepting the future and gonna get the hottest new tech to run FCP??? Digital > film, baby.

Nobody edits by hand anymore. Its been that way for over 20 years. Most movies are still shot on film and then transfered for editing.

Waste of money and effort. Cut out the middleman, my acquaintance.

And have it look like shit? No thanks. Film still looks better than digital at the moment.

Marginally if you do it right, and really only if you know what you're looking for. The benefits of digital outweigh the drawbacks for smaller productions, which is what you're going to be working on at first, bub.

I disagree it takes a $500,000 digital camera to look as good as a $5000 film camera. I shoot on super 16mm and have a higher resolution than HD and better color latitude. 90% of films are still shot on film as are a majority of tv shows.

Do they teach them to use Final Cut Pro in film school? I thought it was more of a indie thing?
Digital can get better color latitude by editing it in software later I believe.

You are incorrect.

Is the difference less if it's not a static shot?
