Title: Wavebirds
Post by: DJ_Tet on May 18, 2007, 09:07:15 AM
Did Nintendo stop making them?  Holy shit they are expensive online.  I sold mine when I sold my Cube and needed cash, and I want one for my Wii.  Where I keep my Wii, a corded controller isn't really an option, so a wavebird would be nice.  I really don't want to pay $50 for one though, what the hell Nintendo?

I got it for $35 new back in the day, but now none of the gaming sites even have wavebirds listed.  None at Best Buy, none at Gamestop.  NCSX has them for $50, and Amazon has them for $42 used.

Nintendo, why would you lock out classic controller for Gamecube titles, and stop making Wavebirds?  What the hell are they thinking, thanks a lot.  I wanted to get my Cube on this weekend and play some FZero, but if I have to pay $50 for a controller I guess I won't.

Actually I'll bend over and take it like I always do, fuck.  Nintendo is pissing me off, took me long enough to find one of your new Cubes too.  Thanks a lot jerks.

That's cool.  I'll hit up the real life stores this weekend and see what I can find.  I was just pretty shocked that they aren't even listed on Best Buy or Gamestop anymore.  Seems odd considering things.  I don't mind paying $35 for one, but paying $15 on top of what I paid (or would have paid, got mine through freevideogames.com back in the day) is kind of ridiculous.  It's bad enough I have to shell out $60 for a new waggle controller, I didn't think I'd have to do that to play GC games.

Cool, I appreciate that...uhh MAF?

Hopefully I can find one at a brick and morter here, I'll hit up the Walmart and Target this afternoon.

The local Best Buy had gotten a decent amount of them in out of nowhere the other day. They might have done a few new runs of them.

Yeah, apparently it's great if you're something else too, judging from Drinky's posts in a certain Hot Dog Bar topic.

If I could secure employment up there I'd consider moving like, tomorrow once I got into school down here (gotta keep in-state tuition, easily done with my parent's residence).

A coworker and I were just talking about how nice and clean it is up there, I'd really like to visit Seattle at some point at least.

Unemployment is really low here too, lots of things to do, its pretty great. I've lived in a lot of places and this is my favorite.

Yeah, I'm a tech in the wrong city.  Charlotte doesn't have a lot of technical opportunities outside of IBM.  Come June once I have a solid year here I may look into other opportunities.  I don't want to regret not trying to live someplace else before it gets too late.

I'm amazed at how long battery's last in this thing, I swear I haven't changed them in like a year of use.  :o

"Rebel Base, I found one, repeat.  I found one"   :-*

Had to go into four stores but Toys R Us had a couple of wavebirds for full retail price.  Still beats $50 though.

I got a new one right after Wii launch for $35 Mighty New Zealand Dollars which was an absolute steal (works out to about $20 US)

That was my initial hope, that there would be discounted new wavebirds out there.  So I was understandably discouraged when I couldn't find any online (except at more than retail).  I was really starting to get worried as I ran my errands today and stopped in several stores without one.  It became clear I wouldn't stumble across a bargain, so I feel lucky to find a new one at all.

I won't be selling this one, in fact, I'm getting ready to break it in with some F Zero GX  :-*

Cube's lack of games helps that.

Funny, I got the wavebird so I'd have something to play on my wii.  That's scary.  But honestly, I don't game that much so I only need a handful of quality titles.  Thank god, cause that's all there is.
