I get up pretty early on weekends these days. After 6:30 im ready to do some shit, and this past weekend its been getting an actual breakfast for a change. Yesterday it was the 'safe' bet of McDonalds Sausage McMuffin with Egg. It wasn't until I read FoC's scandelous thread about his 58 dollar steak dinner that I realized I honestly need to live a little. Spurred forward by this realization I confidently strode into the nearby Shari's at roughly 6:40 this morning for some fukin breakfast.
The service there is fine, but the coffee is crap. And im just gonna say that most of the 6 am breakfast crowd is pretty depressing. Ghost like figures hunched over their steaming caraffes of relatively bland coffee. They all stare forward at the empty space in front of them, either lamenting their place in life...or perhaps mentally preparing for the breakfast they are about to receive. To set myself apart I pretended I was absorbed in the Ad Spindle sitting next to the ketchup and tobasco sauce. I vaguely recall a dog dressed as a clown and a girl dressed up as a cat advertising the kids menu.
I ended up ordering a 9 dollar breakfast meal which ended up being way more food than I wanted. Ham, Sausage, Eggs, Fried Potatoes, Bicuits n Gravy...I dug in and discovered that the eggs tasted like pure butter, the sausage was dry, the ham was dry but the bacon, which you cannot ruin even if youre a bad cook, tasted ok. The Biscuits and Gravy were another matter. Cold gravy with no flavor, or sausage for that matter. The biscuits were too soft and cold. After attempting to mix them with other parts of the breakfast like the eggs, potatoes...the ham....I rejected about half of it. Nothing worked. Nothing could make these good. I cannot imagine who in this world carries the unholy ambition of actively seeking out the worst biscuits and gravy on the planet, but I felt a victim having stumbled upon them unwittingly.
This is all very sad because the service was good, which makes it very hard to tell them that the food they just gave me was bad. Shari's is good at lunches...ill give them that.

Yeah Dennys does breakfast better, and possibly lunch since they have those 12 dollar upscale dinners that bring in the FoCs

there is nothing better then a full English Breakfast in the morning, eggs, bacon, black pudding, mushrooms, baked beans,sausages, half of a tomato and a few hash browns. :drool

Do you prefer gravy on biscuits or syrup on biscuits?

British Breakfast sounds like a drunken kitchen cupboard raid.
Michelle: Honey on biscuits is ok but a good southern pork gravy with large pieces of sausage in it over biscuits is OMG

Syrup is for waffles/pancakes only, gosh. Biscuits are best with honey or jam but really good drowning in peppery white gravy (omg f off sausage).

Uh guys, I am a pretty cheap bastard. I splurged because I just graduated college. The total bill was $200 for 4 people. It was such a damn good restaurant.

yes, but the very flavor of eggs is subtle while syrup is completely overpowering.

The local Breakfast place around here is called Bickfords. Its OMG good! They have a buffet on the weekend where you can eat all the scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes, french toast etc you want! OMG :hyper
