Title: Best John Hughes Movie?
Post by: Cheebs on May 22, 2007, 10:40:18 PM
John Hughes :bow He has done some shitty movies but his best are fantastic (brat pack movies, ferris bueller, vacation, planes trains and automobiles).

Mine is Ferris Bueller followed closely by a bunch.

My top 5:
1. Ferris Bueller's Day Off
2. Vacation
3. Sixteen Candles (I was named after this movie)
4.  Tie:Christmas Vacation
5. Planes, Trains & Automobiles

Sixten Candles is up there. It is such a definitive 80's high school movie. It is done perfectly. I find it hard to hate one and love the other. Ferris, 16 Candles, and Breakfest Club in a way are all one in the same in Hughes' highschool rom-com style.

It's a tough call between Sixteen Candles and Weird Science (and maybe Vacation), but I gotta go with Sixteen.  Ferris Bueller is awful.  I have no idea how it could be anyone's favorite.

I HATE Ferris Bueller. Somehow it is the favorite Hughes movie of my generation. I apologize for my peers.

I went and watched some of it over the internets. It hasn't aged well at all. Unlike say Sixteen Candles which defined the 1980's very well and can trancend that due to it and age pretty well.
