PS3 is embarassing so far, but not enough time has passed to be openly shunned. I think Octane knows it will probably sell more PS2 copies than PS3 and 360 combined, so throwing it on PS3 wont hurt.

The point of PS2 is I already own the guitar. And the PS2.

Also, while this is coolish I'm still way more excited about the 80s edition.

The 80s edition tracklist is fucking destroyed by this so far.

And this will be a PS2 purchase for me in all likelihood. Unless 360 gets a price drop this fall.

Eh, I dunno. As much as I like some songs on the GHIII track list, I really think that the 80s disc will be more fun. This is a purely subjective determination.

Glad to see so many master tracks, however. And yeah, PS2 is the SKU-to-beat. GH is hardly about the graphics. It's all about the sweet, sweet guitar controllers that I already own.

Well it looks like they're adding a ton of shit for GHIII. 80s edition is just an expansion pack pretty much.

I would have preferred either Stockholm Syndrome or Hysteria. The riff in the last half of KoC is disgustingly awesome though.

Looks good, but remember GH2's playlist.  It had more high profile tracks than the first game, but overall the tracklist was less consistent.  Just because they announced a dozen or so killer cuts doesn't mean this game won't suffer the same fate.

Octane
Isn't Red Octane out of the decision-making process for this game?  Activision bought all rights and passed it to Neversoft, I think.

is anyone else really apprehensive about GHIII

all this increased focus on master tracks seems like a smokescreen to hide the fact that they don't actually know anything about/understand music

After seeing that song line up I now have no intention of ever playing a Guitar Hero game

Dragonforce...good?

Anyway, there's a lot of that shit in either I, II, or the bonus tracks in this one, most likely.  If they have the balls to tackle Through the Fire and Flames, go for it...but this tracklist is godly in terms of what I've wanted in a GH game for a long while.

Yea, after those awful videos IGN put up for a while...I'm kinda scared. It'll be doubly worse if they screw up because they will have fucked up an awesome tracklist.

And Scenester, your comment is pretty funny, considering two of those bands were actually in GHII.

If I could choose one song to play on Guitar Hero III, or IV, or whatever, I would pick

Taking Back Sunday - Miami

That would be ruff.

I still don't feel like most of the track list makes me think of GUITAR HEROES.

Some of the songs are good songs, but not songs that I would feel like a GUITAR HERO playing. They should get someone else to pick the tracks honestly.

While I can't disagree with your last statement, Weezer with the Blue album and Pinkerton were fucking great.  You fail, quite hard.
