Paul Haggis Returning for Bond 22
Source: Los Angeles Times
May 23, 2007
The Los Angeles Times reports that Paul Haggis, the Oscar-winning writer-director of Crash and co-writer of Casino Royale, will return to work on the script for the "Royale" follow-up, temporarily titled Bond 22.
Haggis will polish the Bond 22 screenplay by regular 007 writers Neal Purvis and Robert Wade (The World Is Not Enough, Die Another Day). His rewrite of Purvis and Wade's Casino Royale script helped to revitalize the aging franchise and hook a new generation of fans to score the franchise's biggest box office - $588 million worldwide.
A director for the 22nd installment, scheduled for a Nov. 7, 2008 release, has not yet been named. Haggis is currently in the editing room finishing up In the Valley of Elah.

YES
HALLELUJAH.

please get the fuck out Neal Purvis and Robert Wade, i dont want those two to write 007. They really freaking suck and Paul Haggis rewrote a fuckton of their shit to make Casino Royale.
-
Twice they bring in Haggis to rewrite the script (THANK GOD, his is the best writing in the Bond franchise), wouldn't it make more sense after Casino Royale to have Haggis write the first draft and not come in for a re-write if they intended for him to do it again? It would save some time and money.

you guys didn't think Bronson was a good bond? :P
-
He was good in Goldeneye, sadly he was given shitty bond movies after that.
i love daniel craig he is pretty bad ass.

This is the best Bond 22 news Ive heard yet. Now, just get Martin Campbell back on board, and its full steam ahead.

From what I gather Martin Campbell does not want to do it. He didn't want to do Royale and it took a lot of convincing.
I am not too worried though. In the post-Connery era the director seems to have little impact on the turnout of the bond films, it seems the producers have a lot more control in the old hollywood style. I mean the same guy who directed The Living Daylights directed A View To A Kill.

i would actually love to see a qt bond flick.

That was John Glen, Cheebs, and hes a person Id LOVE to see come back. He did 7 films I believe, and he knows what he is doing.

I love QT, but no. Bond is not his fit at all. It would be a QT movie, not James Bond. He could never restrain himself enough to keep in the Bond style. But no matter. They will never ever allow him to direct one. Much like Spielberg who wanted to as well. It is a rule that Americans can never direct James Bond.
The guy did great ones with Dalton but he also did the worst Roger Moore ones. I like him a lot but, eh I doubt they'd bring back someone from the old guard.
-
it would be a completely different bond but i remember qt saying once that he wanted to take it back to its origin or something. i'm thinking a great qt script with some cg-less action sequences could work. but yeah it'll probably never happen :-\
-
Yeah, that was the idea used in the last Bond.... Casino Royale. Minus this QT script.

get rid of the word probably. :lol QT basically begged to direct Casino Royale. If Spielberg got turned down, no american will get the job.
