Title: Should I be an information analyst?
Post by: FlameOfCallandor on May 24, 2007, 12:58:06 PM
My university has this training program for anyone who has a degree in anything. You can take a computer aptitude test and if you get an A on the test than you can interview for a position that will train you in information technology.

While in training the job pays $37,000 and afterwards you get a job with the university at $40,000. It's not what I want to do eventually in my life, but its pretty damn good money and I got an A on the test. What do you guys think.

Go ahead. When you want to go into artsy fartsy careers that don't pay anything early on, it's always good to have a plan B and/or funding plan

That's what i think too. I get paid to be trained in a skill that is extremly valuable at the moment, and i'll have a job afterwords.

I'll still make films as a hobby and hopefully in a couple of years I'll be ready to make a feature or go to grad school.

The best artists suffer for the craft, if you treat it like a hobby you'll never do that great at it.

Take a good job when you can.  It's much easier to find what you want when you are on solid ground.

It doesn't mean you get the job, it means you get to interview for the job. Don't put the cart before the horse.
