Renumber your queue in the order you want the movies.

What version of Brazil is the best? Netflix lists the "Love Conquers All" Version and another version. I'm not sure which I should get.

You want the other version. The love version is the original studio cut that has the last 10 minutes of the movie cut out.

event horizon is actually pretty bad, but it's fun and has some cool suspenseful moments before it turns all goofball in the latter half.

I assume people here aren't fond of gangster movies? It's probably my favorite genre, so I guess I'm in a minority. I'll probably have to check out noir movies. Added Casino, which I surprisingly haven't seen.

Thing is, I'm not too knowledgeable about noir.

Well, I wasn't really complimenting Pacino's performance that much - just saying it wasn't annoying.

the untouchables is the only capone movie i can remember. deniro plays capone and while he has a pretty small role he's fucking perfect. method acting at its finest

His performance in Heat got to me a little bit. Maybe "annoying" was the wrong word...I actually just laugh at his ridiculousness a lot of the time.

there are a couple of classic pacino scenes in heat where he's yelling and shit. one is with the black guy where he's acting like an owl but i couldn't find that one on youtube. i found this one though:

I now have 80 films on the queue. I think that's enough for now.

The first batch will consist of Blue Velvet, Mulholland Drive, and Blood Diamond.

mulholland drive has one of the greatest softcore lesbian scenes i've ever seen. appearently you could even see some vag in the theater cut but that only stayed in the theater cut, it never appeared in any of the dvd's  :'(

Film noir:
The Postman Always Rings Twice (the John Garfield/Lana Turner version, NOT the Jack Nicholson/Jessica Lange version)
Nightmare Alley
Double Indemnity
The Maltese Falcon
Sunset Boulevard
The Dark Corner
Out of the Past
Criss Cross
The Killers (the Robert Siodmak and Don Siegel versions are equally good, get either)
Leave Her to Heaven (one of the few color movies labelled as noir)
Angel Face
Gilda
Night of the Hunter
The Big Clock

Italian movies:
Ossessione (Italian version of The Postman Always Rings Twice, very interesting to see how a different director handles the subject matter)
1900 (epic historical movie by Bernardo Bertolucci)
The Leopard (another historical drama based on a very famous Italian novel, Il Gattopardo, directed by Luchino Visconti - stars Burt Lancaster in the title role)
The White Sheik (an early Federico Fellini film - a very light, comic film, my personal favorite of his)
The Conformist (another Bertolucci film, an absolute knockout, go into it blind without knowing anything about it - starring Jean-Paul Trintignant)
The Legend of 1900 (a personal favorite of mine, and a bit of a guilty pleasure - not a great film, but the soundtrack is dazzling.  Directed by Giuseppe Tornatore, who also did Cinema Paradiso)

I love Pacino but I felt his entire performance in that movie was...off. The over the top stuff was really jarring to me. IMO De Niro owned that movie
