Title: Does anyone suffer from ADD?
Post by: Fresh Prince on May 28, 2007, 01:31:27 AM
So I was watching a programme on ADD and found myself exhibiting some symptoms. So naturally I went on line and read about it a bit more and now think there might be something to it.
For all these years I thought it was laziness and procrastination but now it may actually be something. :(
Yes I'll probably be going to a doctor to check it out later.

If you wanted to be treated like a baboon and be a zombie to drugs than it's totally a great "disease".

Yeah most of it does fall under general things such as laziness, anxiety etc. I guess the point is that you consistently do it and hence it is a real problem.

am nintendo a couple of things:
1) There are medical professionals that have classified this as a disease so I'd trust their definition over yours.
2) Drugs are not the only option.

Maybe in America. If they do say I have ADD I wouldn't make them my first option. Hopefully that's a pretty big if and I'm just overreacting.

I dont recommend drugs, not strattera anyway. Nope, say no, because its useless and has side effects that are worse then add/adhd. America :bow

ADD is actually hard to pin on someone because most of the symptoms are displayed by normal, healthy human beings, on a regular basis.

If you're really worried about it (and you probably shouldn't be, at this point in your life), you'd be best off being observed for a couple of days by a mental doctor or something.

Agreed. ADHD is real and does happen in adults, but it's also very overdiagnosed.

If you've had a fine life up until now, I wouldn't even worry about it, as it's not a life-threatening condition or anything.

I know people with ADD and they all take drugs and they're all pretty distinguished mentally-challenged.  I would suggest you don't go to any doctor.  It's obviously never going to affect you and really all it'll do is feed low-self esteem jack-offs.  Maybe there is somebody that needs it, I've never seen anybody like that, but it can't be you.  It's basically the same as a anti-depressant so you can go fuck yourself if you take it.

You can fuck yourself if you take ADD medication? How can I get a doctor to give me this medication?

ADHD is far far far over diagnosed. There are people with it of course and need medicine but many if not most on medicine for it do not need it.

Working memory training seems to reduce ADHD symptoms.

extremely overdiagnosed.

Some people REALLY have it, and those are the people that within the first 5 minutes of meeting them.... you KNOW.

Psychology is a very new science, a little over 100 years old.  Don't trust what the DSM IV says.  Remember they used to think that emotional disorders coud be fixed through a process called leukotomy, later known as a frontal lobotomy.  I remember in Psych class watching a "Doctor" with a cigarette in his mouth take ice picks and scramble the frontal lobes.  This goes back to Phineaus Gage having a piece of metal shoved into his brain and changing his personality.  Your best help is a Life Coach.  A motivator.  A friend.

If you have add, don't go to a doctor about it. Let me tell you that. The medicine will turn you into a boring zombie.

I think I've developed coping mechanisms and if I do have ADD it must be mild.
For me it's not necessarily to try and cure it but realise that it is there and making certain adjustments.

The thing is I can't study for 20 minutes at a time without making a snack, a coffee, watching TV or going on the internet.Even in those 20 minutes my mind wonders off and I start dreaming. I lack focus and to and it does affect my life it terms of grades etc.

I think I have ADD

sometimes when i'm jerking off, i'll start thinking about stuff at work or bills and i'll go limp (dick in hand and all) and then i'll be like "oh right, let's get back to it *fap fap fap*"

I like how Prost, on his know-it-all binge of the fucking week, is trying to act like he knows something.

I was diagnosed with ADD/ODD at a young age, and it's easy for me to even see the problems with it. Anyone that has or is around someone with ADD can identify the symptoms pretty easily when they happen.

Good Example: A child can't focus on homework. Parent tries to help child while child keeps getting sidetracked.

Bad Example: Anything that Prost says.

Living with it can be pretty hard, but if you can really focus on something, you can get through it. You'll never be able to totally beat it, but the whole goal is to live with it.

I went through at least 7 different prescriptions before deciding to try on my own, and I've never looked back.
