Their modem died and they want to charge me 75 dollars to have some dork come out and look at it and do all the same stuff I did then charge me for the new modem too I bet arhhahghg

Are you past the minimum contract length? I think it's one year for their DSL service. If it's past that, you could probably cancel your service, then re-subscribe and they'll give you a new modem. But then you'd be out of service for two or three weeks or however long it would take.

They arent technically verizon, they used to be GTE..anyway im just gonna switch to comcast if at all possible, im tired of this crap.

a lot of newer home routers have the "modem" capability. I bet if you take a look you'll see in there where you can put your authentication info (of course if you are using a router).

16mbit should be available in the seattle area if you do go with comcast though remember you lease the box. You can buy your own and save the extra 5 bucks a month. But if you lease one they will serice it for free which can be a life saver. Just make sure you have the line dedicated for net.

5 bucks is worth it if they take responsibility for its problems Ill have to pay extra to have them install a new cable line in my room :(
