"All of the backgrounds, portraits, and in-game animations are being completely re-drawn, in hi-res (game will run in 1080p), by Udon Comics."
-
Where did this pic come from? Himu, do you have SFAC (Xbox)? It's backwards compatible and FUCKAWSOME.
-
I used to have it for ps2. Sold it off so I could get the superior Xbox version. Still haven't gotten it yet.
As for the source: http://www.capcom.com/BBS/showthread.php?t=14467
-
15 bux used at EB. The netcode in it is pretty good too.
Holy shit you edit fast in that 120-degree heat :P :-* :interracial :hump
-
I'm a faster editor. I get it from raping people as fast a lightning.
-
what's gonna suck is that they're not going to reanimate the new sprites to say garou or SF3 level. So you're gonna have these nice-ass sprites with the animation of SF2 :rofl
-
What? :(
-
They'd hafta change all the hitboxes and shit, so they're not going to reanimate everything.
-
At least SFII doesn't animate like Battlecry (obscure shitty arcade game).
-
Fuck that then. I was hoping they would modernize SFII. SFII is not good at all by today's fighter standards.
-
as long as this game is developed by capcom and not digital eclipse or whoever the fuck made the SF2T XBL verison, i'll be happy.
-
SF2 has not held up well at all. My friend and I got it out a while back after talking about how awesome fun it was in arcades and after about 2 matches we looked at each other and were kinda like "this is lame, why are we playing this?"
-
Hyp, it's not developed by Capcom. Keep your fingers crossed.

Yeah, okay, SF2 hasn't held up well. But SSF2T, which is what this game is, certainly has. ;)
-
Street Fighter 2 :bow Still plays like 10 million bux imo
-
I know I just posted this pic in the new SNK USA games thread, but here's a shot of KOF '94 Rebout, upscaled to 1080i on the PS3, for comparison. I think Rebout is the closest thing to SSF2T HD Remix, as it's also the same game from 1994, with the sprites traced over in 480p. Rebout looks nice, but the detail in SSF2T HD Remix is INSANE in comparison. I just hope it plays the same and the devs don't fuck it up.

Christ I need that, Lyte. Can you please go over what recent KOF NA releases have been? I am utterly confused these days.

In NA? Dude I've been in Japan the last two years...I don't keep up with that stuff like I used to.
I think the only games that have come out since that time are Maximum Impact 1 on Xbox, 2002/2003 on PS2/Xbox, Neowave on Xbox, and Maximum Impact 2 on PS2 (under the title "KOF 2006").
Neowave is better on the PS2, but that's Japan-only. They removed a few characters from the Xbox port, although the Xbox port has online play.
If you're into importing, you should check out online prices; I don't think NGBC, Neowave, SS Tenka, and possibly even KOF XI go for all that much these days; the first three were all rereleased for sure and should only be in the $25 range brand new. Maximum Impact 2 is also actually worth it and is a lot of fun; it's a massive improvement over the original. Although according to NCSX, the updated Regulation A, with Ash Crimson and Blue Mary, is supposedly hitting the PS2 next month.
Rebout should be pretty cheap nowadays too. Keep in mind it's REALLY OLD SCHOOL. It plays and animates exactly like '94.
You can also buy KOF collections. Currently there's the Orochi Collection with KOF '95-'97, and the NESTS Collection with '99 Evo-2001. When KOF '98 Ultimate is finally released, ALL the KOF games will be on the PS2.

Fuck that then. I was hoping they would modernize SFII. SFII is not good at all by today's fighter standards
By today standards, Super Turbo shits all over every other 2D fighter in regards to character balance and sense of strategy. SSF2T has definetely survived the test of time. And no, I donīt nostalgia feelings for ST because I am fairly new at it.
Oh and this is a mock up someone at shoryuken did for fun. Ryu will probably look close to that

-
Will this be a XBL/PSN thing or be a full game you buy?
-
Good god people who still cling to fucking SFII Super Turbo are distinguished mentally-challenged fellows. Let it go.
-
?
People are not going to let go shit. Board games come out every year, but that doesnīt are going to stop playing Chess because of it. And no, I am not comparing Chess and ST, just making an example.
-
That is exactly what you just did.
Also my old man is in ur country maintainin ur factoriez. He says it is fuckin hot.
-
Is your old man FlameofCallendor?

:lol

Nope. He crosses the border every day.
-
People cling to SSF2T for good reason: it's one of the best fighting games ever made. The 2D fighting genre doesn't get gems like that very often, so we've been forced to stick with it if we want any variety.
-
FUKIN FIGHTING GAME NERDS GO HOM! SF2 SUCKS!

hey bubba started it

I dont even why Himuro laughed. I mean he probably likes Alpha 3 because of the animu character designs.

I enjoy Alpha 3 because of the amazing single player modes. Yeah, it ain't the most balanced fighter, and neither is Marvel vs Capcom 2, but they're both fun as fuck. Street Fighter 3: Third Strike and Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo may have the most balanced rosters or whatever, but they are BORING. SSF2T was amazing 10 years ago, but better fighters have been released since.

Alpha 2 > Alpha 3

Here is what someone else said in the official CAPCOM boards about why we should not expect this to have new frames:
Someone posted Sirlin's explanation, but it looks like it needs to be reiterated once more.
When a character hits a button, the code in the game grabs the animation frames from its pool of sprites that it currently has loaded in RAM. It knows to start with Frame A and leave it on screen for 5 frames, then grab Frame B and leave it on screen for 5 frames, then grab Frame C and leave it on screen for 12 frames, then grab Frame B again and leave it for 5 frames, and then back to Neutral Standing Animation.
If we added more frames to the animation for every character, THE UNDERLYING CODE WOULD HAVE TO CHANGE DRAMATICALLY. You would have to know to grab Frame A for 2 frames, Frame B for 2, Frame C for 1, Frame D for 1, Frame E for 2, Frame F for 7, etc. etc. etc. This is simply too big of an en
deavor to take on. You would be rewriting the code for every animation in the game.
Right now, if the only thing that changes is the sprites that are being grabbed, very little underlying code needs to change. It'll still display the frames for the same amount of time, and since there is a one-to-one correlation between old frames and new frames, even accessing the frames would require very little code changes.
This is why we won't shouldn't be expecting to see new animation frames for old moves, people.
Also look at this:

Awesome. And they are just photoshops. Imagine how good the game will look with the new backgrounds.

Mortal Kombat 2 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Street Fighter 2
-
Shut the fuck up and get the fuck out.
-
Hmmm, I even liked Mk3 more than SFII, actually.
SFII is really getting on my nerves. Too many editions.
-
^^
No.

If this goes well I hope Capcom gives A LOT of their games facelifts Megaman 1-6, perhaps the X series - I wish a lot of old games were given this kind of treatment, upgraded visually and musically, yet keeping the base feeling/gameplay of the orignals.
I'd like to see Nintendo remake some of their games like this but eh...
-
megaman x was remade, it was a disaster of epic proportions
street fighter is my least favorite fighting series. never liked it much. hd sprites are always good though
-
not in assy 3D though Viz I mean like this HD sprites and shit.
-
ok, thats a good idea.
I actually remember megaman x xbla rumors now that you mention it.

Yeah, that would be amazing... too bad it's just so cost-ineffective :(
I hope SSF2T HD and Odin Sphere will show the companies that quality 2-D still has a place this day and age...
-
Someone else did this:
-
So we're going to have hd sprites on top of old backgrounds?
-
It's obviously a mock-up, knucklehead.
-

:lol

That's obvious, but I'm curious about what they're doing with the backgrounds.

What part of "entirely redone in HD" didn't you understand? ;)
-
Ah.
-
I just realized this game will have to be rated M if they don't completely change Cammy's appearance. That lady was sporting some serious INDEPENDENTLY MOVING cameltoe in SSF2:T originally.
