Title: Is there a rule about this?
Post by: BlackMage on June 06, 2007, 03:30:44 AM
So I haven't talked to my Dad in about 4 months, then out of the blue, he calls me and lets me know he got married. I figured that they probably eloped or something but NOOOOOOOO, there was a big fucking wedding with both their families. The problem I am having is, why the fuck wasn't I invited? Is there some kind of rule where the kids of your ex-wife aren't allowed at your next wedding? I don't know, I just thought it was kinda weird. I get along pretty good with my dad, too. I try to call him at least once a month.

I'd feel pretty shitty about that, too.  is this the sort of thing you can ask him about, or will you be stuck stewin'?

what the fuck? that doesn't seem to make much sense, especially if you were on good terms.

maybe it's possible that his new wife didn't want you there? she might be insecure about having his kid from another marriage at her wedding or something. which would be pretty selfish anyway, but i've seen it happen before in my extended family. women are fucking nuts when it comes to that shit, especially their weddings.

I'm going golfing with him on Sunday. Maybe i'll bring it up. I don't want some weird drama to come of this, really. He wants me to meet her but I think it's all awkward.

Also, the reason my dad and mom divorced is because he cheated on her. Don't know if that has any relevance.

Not that I would ever get married, but if you were my son I wouldn't invite you to my wedding.  What if you told people some crazy fucked up lie?  And of course you would.

I'd be offended if he didn't invite me to the wedding as well. Do you have siblings and were they invited? I'd definitely bring it up when you go golfing with him. Don't do it as an accusation though, like "why didn't you invite me to the wedding?" That will put him on the defensive. Instead, say something like "I felt kind of left out that you didn't invite me to your wedding--I would have gone and I want you to know that I do support your new marriage" or something like that.

ha, yeah, my sister wasn't invited either. They don't like each other much, though. I'll take your advice to heart, though.

If he doesn't give you a good answer just wack him in the balls with a golf club and draw :maf faces all over his butt.  Then pay a prostitute to give him herpes.

Just ask him straight up, let him know that you were pissed.  No need to hide how you feel but I wouldn't recommend blowing up at him, tell him in a calm manor.  :)

Not inviting your own son to your wedding is pretty cold. You should invite everyone who is important to you if it is going to be a big wedding.

I hate weddings

I went to a wedding that was 5 hours late. Think about that for a sec. We fucking sat there for 5 hours at different invervals listening to slow jazz and soothing R&B from the likes of Kenny G and Luther Vandross.

Last wedding I went to was an interracial one between my cousin and a white guy; he's actually very cool. But that didn't stop my grandma from blurting out loud such gems as

"She lived in Detroit for 23 years and couldn't find a black man?"
"Maurice are you dating a white girl?"
"Oh dear, don't take pictures"

I hate weddings
