Poor Drinky.
-
hey, you don't see me tryin' to convince anyone it's good, eh? i like games where i can futz around and minmax, and atelier iris 3 fits the bill nicely. 2 was a solid rpg, and 3 adds serious dungeon crawling elements.

Word.

Atelier Iris Professor? REALLY???
I'd imagine he has to shut the door so his wife doesn't see it
-
at least it's not Ar Tornelico which is LITERALLY a loli rape sim
-
Who is to say he hasn't already, or is already, playing that too!
SHOUTA!
-
ar tonelico?? you wound me!
re: atelier iris 3: you see ANIME GURLZ; i see NERDY RPG STAT SEXPERIENCE.
atelier iris 2 was a nice fast-paced generic little rpg with a great battle system. as a bonus, all the females save one were sensibly clothed. atelier iris 3 dispenses with the sensible clothing for BADLY DRAWN ANIMU TETAS, but adds an improved battle system and better dungeon crawling. it's fun! mrs. drinky mocks iris and ribbon mctits, but other than that the game doesn't even approach disgaea-level loli creepitude.

"BISHOUJO!"

Did you play the first AI? That was the only one in the series I've played... but nice to see that they're steadily improving; the original was a bit dull, but had its share of cool battles, interesting characters (Veola rocks) and a nice length (~20 hours) that kept it from grating.
-
hated the first AI, actually -- no real dungeon delving, and the battle system didn't have the grandia-esque bits that make 2/3 so appealing. i'm not much of a story guy. :(
-
BISHOUJOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
-
2 was a fun game, which is why I bought 3.
-
I wanted to like 1, but the random encounters and complete lack of challenge did it in for me. I liked the alchemy system, though.
The symbol encounters and quest system (I liked FFX-2, dammit) have me interested in 3, but I don't like what I've heard about the alchemy system having lost some complexity.
I should just get out Atelier Viorate or Judie and have a go. Why bother with the extra nonsense, right?
-
these games don't even have their own distinctive artistic style, it's just generic anime trash with butt rock served on a silver plate
-
there is absolutely NO way that Doug has ANY room to talk about ANYTHING anyone else likes. holy fuck.
-
sure i do. first, i qualified that the game is trash; it's trash i happen to enjoy, much as i enjoy the films of sly stallone and the music of matchbox 20. i can easily separate my preferences into those which have artistic credibility and those which have none whatsoever. atelier iris 3 has zero artistic credibility, but it has certain features that prey on my pc-coddled geekhood, like the alchemy system and the dungeon diving. don't judge it based entirely on the animu nonsense -- i can play great games with terrible western art, too, like planescape torment! it's not my fault that you lonely shitheads only see the anime gurlz and not the rest of the game!
again, i'm not RECOMMENDING anyone play atelier iris 3 -- i'm apologizing for it! i don't see you tasteless fucks doing that when you pimp shitty wii games!
-
it could be worse
you could be playing
o god
