Title: In revolutionary terms which would be better?
Post by: Fresh Prince on June 09, 2007, 07:06:33 AM
A world war, global depression or a plague?
Burning the chaff whatever you will, society always seems to need a reboot.

They all have their plus and minuses. :tophat

Global plague -- haven't had one of those in a long time.

Hopefully it will kill me and my insomniatic ass.

Personally I favour depression. War is much too messy and because most plagues involve human contact and people on the internets would be the only survivors.
Who'd want to live in a world like that?

Depression seems like the one that's gonna hit in the future

I love Demi's predictions.

Because War isn't going to happen "in the future"

Historically, war has been the best because new technologies are developed in the course of the war that have peacetime applications for the good of society.  Today though, I don't think we would be able to fight a world war without nukes going off somewhere, so I think plague would probably be the best in that it might inspire the same scientific/technological renaissance.

Plague would be the best.  WWI and WWII were only 20 years apart with a depression in the middle.  Then we went to Korea a couple years later.  You all know the rest.  All war does is make men hungry.  Depression created crime.  Plague...you want your neighbors stuff?  He's not living there no more!  People are too worried about not dying to actually go and die for something.
