Title: Someone make me a new avatar plz
Post by: Ichirou on June 10, 2007, 06:25:47 AM
Preferably from this picture of Christopher Eccleston:

Or feel free to be original and do something else.  I might alternate if there's another really cool one. :D

After I watched that movie, I bought a book of Borges's short stories.  They blew my mind. O_O

Also, Scenester, who is that dude?  He is no Eccleston.

Borges is pretty great.  His non-fiction is generally pretty great, too.  He wrote for a long time, so he has a lot of not so great stuff in both his fiction and non-fiction, though.

EDIT:  The Garden of Forking Paths is one of my favorite pieces of fiction ever.  Tlon Uqbar Orbis Tertius is up there, too.

His mastery over language is amazing - and the way he writes seems almost cinematic, at times.

He's incredibly famous in Latin America, but I'm not sure how well known he is in the US...I know he was very fond of American mystery writers, and they were a big influence on his style.

Christopher Eccleston dressed as the villainous mastermind Red Scarlach from the movie Death and the Compass, adapted from a short story by Borges.

He would probably do it, but he'd be very snarky while doing it.
