I found it used at Gamestop after I left work yesterday, but it was actually in good condition. I couldn't resist buying it. I just love the battle system in the Grandia games.
Anyone else here played it before? Is it good? How does it play compared to the other Grandia games?
-
It can't be worse than Grandia III.
It is.
-
It's HORRIBLE, take it back right now
-
The greatness of Grandia III's battle system was enough to make me ignore the bad story, voice acting, and the stereotypical annoying blonde female lead that has been plaguing many jrpgs.
It's HORRIBLE, take it back right now
:lol
Explain please. It's used and I still have the receipt so I can still exchange it if I want to.
-
Grandia Xtreme has an awesome battle system, but a pretty non-existant storyline.

Wouldn't that be an improvement for the Grandia games?

TAKE IT BACK
I'm not even trolling here, I am telling you right now to take that turd back and buy yourself some BET cassettes or something
-
Its basically for people who love Grandia's amazing combat system. If you dont enjoy battles then id probably take it back.

Okay, I'll try it out tonight or tomorrow. If I don't like it, I'll exchange it towards something better.

Did you play through it?
-
Played a bit of it, I know Drinky actually finished it.
-
You can buy some fukin dope weaves and change your name to Weavy Beezy
-
Consensus is that it's awful. Return it, Beezy. Yeah, at first you might be like "Hey, this isn't so bad" but then eventually you realize that there's only like 12 dungeons in the game that you have to do over eight or nine times each before you can make any progress and then you will be upset. Very upset.

FUK U GUYS IM BUYIN TENCHU Z

Let me put it this way. Grandia is Tsubaki's (from GAF) favorite RPG. He bought Grandia Xtreme when it was first released in Japan. He has been playing it on and off since then and still hasn't bothered to finish it because he thinks it sucks so much.
-
Doesn't he tend to like a lot of crappy games? I think it's time to change the purpose of this thread. :(
What game should I exchange Grandia Xtreme towards? I was thinking about Okami or Tales of the Abyss, but they're both still $39.99 so I would have to pay another $20. I'd get Valkyrie Profile 2 ($29.99), but I haven't played the first one yet. Any other suggestions? Last gen systems and Nintendo handhelds only please.
-
Tsubaki's a bit of a gaming purist. He tends to have pretty good taste, IMO. If he doesn't like a game, I might like it, but if he likes a game, I'm sure to like it.
I'm so behind on gaming I can't really suggest any alternatives to the ones you posted.

THE DARKNESS

VP2 is a prequel

But it seems that everyone agrees that VP2 is better than VP in every way. If I play VP2 first, then I'll never want to play VP.

Get Pokemon Diamond or a Phoenix Wright game.
-
Oh, hell yeah, if you haven't played Phoenix Wright yet, you MUST get one of those games.
-
I have and beat the first two PW games and I'm patiently waiting for the third one.
I'm not too sure about Pokemon Diamond. I really wanted it when it first came out, but not so much anymore.
-
Do you have Elite Beat Agents?
-
No. I've played the demo at a few stores and I'm afraid of destroying my touchscreen because of the spinner. That's the only reason that I haven't bought it yet.
-
Get it. My DS Lite's touchscreen is fine and I've put countless hours into it.
-
Alright. I'll take your word for it.
-
grandia extreme > eba. gx's big failing is the awful, awful voicework, but the dungeons and battle system are testicle-burstingly awesome. playing gx is like being fisted by one of the sexy sexy bratz babies while your cat eats maple syrup off your nipples. don't listen to the pedestrian fucks nay-saying this game, and NEVER EVER listen to anyone that recommends a ds game not titled etrian odyssey.
-
:lol :lol :lol
But I already have Etrian Odyssey. I have until Tuesday-Wednesday to exchange it, so I'll try it out until then.

That doesn't sound erotic at all :(

Keep in mind when you play it that you will have to repeat dungeons ad nauseum. As good as the battle system is, do you really want to be doing the exact same shit over and over again in the same areas?
-
OldSkool gamers love that shit.
