I don't own a Wii, a 360, or a PS3, and I don't see myself buying any in the foreseeable future. Why?
1. Wii: Like Chad Warden says, it's all about the games, and the Wii don't got no games. I've probaby been tempted to buy it more than any other console but then I think and realize that it has no games I want to play, and probably won't for a few years, and the temptation goes away.
2. Xbox 360: lol, failure rate. Maybe when they redesign it.
3. PS3: $600. No games. Fuck you, Sony.
Post here if you're also skipping next gen!
-
You have a 12" SDTV, I think we know why you haven't "bought" into anything
-
My three shitty hasnt failed me yet.I'm starting to think people are doing something they shouldn't be doing.
Oh and you can't skip "next gen".
-

:shh
But yeah, I should have added that you can't even notice the nicest things about next gen if you don't have a good TV.

Lets see, i stil own window98se and me and my wife has a xp and i plan to buy a super xp in a few months. So i dont care about vista at the moment, and i dont see myself buying vista until like 9 years from now. Maybe 7.
HDTV/Blue Ray , who cares. If you want HDTV Q, just download BSPLAYER and set it to movie mode. It will save you a few hundred bucks, because its free.
http://www.bsplayer.org/
Download now and be happy!
Lets see um, as for gaming consoles. I plan to buy xbox360 late this year, prices are dropping and more games are coming, so i can see a huge libray of games soon.
PS3, 600 dollars, crap and less games, = No thanks.
Wii = Plan to buy = 2 years from now.
Peace :)
-
I don't own any of them either.
Wii : Not made for people like me. Its games are shamelessly stupid and unsophisticated and ugly as sin. Maybe the games will change over time to something more palatable, but by that point, will I really want to go back to 2001-era visuals?
360: I don't like paying a recurring monthly fee for online gaming, given the huge drop in direct quality of experience versus the PC (thanks peer to peer and microtransaction rape vs. free usermade content). It has some games I'd like to play on it, but between the monthly fee and terrible build quality, I've stayed clear for now. If I'm going to blow that kind of money on gaming hardware, it'll be a some upgraded sim gear for my PC.
PS3: Best tech and better base online design, though I really am turned off by the whole Habbo Hotel approach with Home. Blu-Ray is actually a plus-I like nature documentaries in HD and there seems to be some available with more in the pipeline. Zero games, a big price tag, and, to be honest, a truly questionable future more than kill the deal, though.
-
Wii-not enough good games yet
360-scared of the failure rate
PS3-too darned expensive, doesn't have any games that I want, and none have been announced that I want.
You have a 12" SDTV, I think we know why you haven't "bought" into anything
That too. :'(
Although my tv is 14"!
The real reason though is that I'm a filthy poor.

3. PS3: $600. No games. Fuck you, Sony. too pricey, some good games
Post here if you're also skipping next gen!
buy a warranty if you are paranoid, bitches.

If you have a GameCube, pick up Zelda Twilight Princess. The way it was meant to be played (unmirrored and unwaggled.)
-
the games still a fucking turd though lol

I don't like paying a recurring fee for my ISP but business is business, ya know? They offer me a service, and I pay for it.
XBL is a great service, and validates your money. PSN gives you what you pay for, and that's business.
It's also a yearly fee, btw. Just go out and buy a year card of Live for less than $50. That is a drop in the bucket. I really don't see how that could break anyone's bank.
wut

I'm buying an HDTV in the next couple of weeks. Come over to my house and play with me.
I'm playing on a 20" SD right now.
-
demi, I want to hang out with you someday. Would that be cool?
-
Ok. I might have to not let you leave though. I have rules on what you can and cannot see regarding me.
-
The Xbox 360 is the system to get if you're very poor (http://reviews.cnet.com/sc/31959783-2-200-0.gif), just get some used system for cheap and get it fixed by some private repairman with the X-Clamp fix if it ever breaks.
-
Why does the 360 have to be the poor console, because you can mod it? You can mod the Wii, and it is cheaper, wouldn't that be the "very poor" console?
I don't understand how someone who does not have a place of employment is even in a position to decide who is poor or not.
-
Ok. I might have to not let you leave though. I have rules on what you can and cannot see regarding me.
That's cool, we can be roomies...that is what you meant, right?
-
No
-
Lovers, then?
-
Go away
-
You do not like me. :(
-
wii: awful graphics, horrible controller, no games.
ps3: too expensive, no games.
x360: failure rate, live, microtransactions and mostly the same games i didn't like on the xbox.
-
What mostly the same games you didn't like on the xbox? 360's line up mostly consists of new ip's.
-
Yeah, I was a bit down on the original Xbox's lineup (the original Xbox was my least played system of last gen... yes even behind the Gamecube!), but 360 seems much more well-rounded. Only thing that 360 is missing over the original Xbox is those quirky underground commercial bomb SEGA titles (my main reason for enjoying the original XB).
-
I play my Xbox way more than Gamecube. Gamecube probably has less than 10 worthwhile games for me, while Xbox is my main multiconsole system, and also has a lot of good games on its own:
1. Jet Set Radio Future
2. Gun Valkyrie (when I'm in the mood)
3. Ninja Gaiden
4. Chronicles of Riddick
5. Dead or Alive Ultimate (WITH ONLINE PLAY)
6. Crimson Skies
7. Otogi
8. Otogi 2
9. Psychonauts
10. Shenmue II
11. Breakdown
12. Phantom Dust
13. Fable
14. Knights of the Old Republic
15. Panzer Dragoon Orta
16. Guilty Gear X2 #Reload (WITH ONLINE PLAY)
17. Samurai Shodown V (WITH ONLINE PLAY)
18. King of Fighters 2002/2003 (WITH ONLINE PLAY)
19. Snk vs Capcom Svc Chaos (WITH ONLINE PLAY)
20. Street Fighter Anniversary (WITH ONLINE PLAY)
21. Oddworld Strangers Wrath
22. Jade Empire
23. Top Spin
I think Xbox 1's line up doesn't get the respect it deserves. Many folk say that it only has shooters when there are plenty of games to choose from, it seems they just don't bother looking for them. Xbox line up was pretty good for a first timer, especially for a western console, and it kicked Nintendo's ass like nobody's business.
-
i didn't see anything really interesting on the xbox. x360 games that i can think of:
gears of war and lost planet both look like generic shooters to me, with geow being hyped for the graphics and lp for being a capcom game.
dead rising seems cumbersome and i'm not really into horror or zombie games in general.
then there's the collective of fps/racers which the original xbox already had.
blue dragon seems to be the exception, but it reminds of dq8 which i hated, so it's not really exciting. there's also dmc4 and gta4 (depending on how much of an improvement it is) but that's available on the ps3. either way, it's not enough to get me interested, let alone justify a purchase.
as for that list of yours, i had sf3, ggx2, samurai showdown tenkaichi kenkakuten, kofxi, svc:chaos and psychonauts on my ps2. psychonauts, despite looking worse than the xbox version, played fine off hd loader, so don't start it. everything else was better because of the controller alone, and i have 0 interest in the other games.
also, i don't mean to take jabs at fps or racers, i play them as well. but they aren't the kind of games that sell me on my systems.
-
so what games do sell you on systems?
from my "next-gen" experience, the 360 has proven to offer the most diverse set of games thus far. the wii and ps3 are totally lacking in all departments.
-
What about Mass Effect, Lost Odyssey, Bioshock, Culdcept Saga, Viva Pinata, Crackdown, and others?
-

Street Fighter Anniversary is on ps2, but with no online play. GGX2 on ps2 is the original GGXX, and it's not #Reload, it doesn't have online play either. Samurai Shodown V is not availble on ps2 in America, neither is SvC Chaos, and those have online play. KoFXI is not on Xbox, and while KoF 2002/2003 are on ps2, xbox has online play. Psychonauts on Xbox is better because it looks far better, and loads better, so I'll start it anyways. S Controller is pretty damn good for majority of games. Personally speaking, I have trouble playing ps2 games now because the controller lacks triggers.
-
I'm all in favor of the PS3 and 360 hype, but the potential of a Wii-dominated future frightens me.
-
Don't bring it up at all Distant.
-
Shut up distinguished mentally-challenged fellow, you bought a Wii before a 360, you are part of the problem.
-
You're only apart of the problem if you buy Wii software. I have only 2 games for wii.
-
YOU BOUGHT A WII [AND] SOFTWARE
S T F U
-
But you wanted to buy a wii a few months back.
-
But you wanted to buy a wii a few months back.
Wanting, but not buying one is vastly different from actually buying one.
Sorry, duder. Unless you can get your money back from Nintendo, you're screwed on this one.
-
so what games do sell you on systems?
i don't have anything specific in mind. i got a saturn for megaman x4, and a ps2 for mgs2, dmc and ffx and because my psx was awesome. every other system i bought just because, tho i ain't doing that anymore, at least not right now anyway.
as for the games, i'm not gonna keep complaining about them one by one, since my opinion will remain the same. you'd probably try to make this an even bigger argument too.
either way, i don't like the settings, or the characters, or something else. maybe i'm nitpicking, but i can't help it.
-
Wii: I've found I really don't care about the traditional Nintendo franchises like I used to anymore, and those were the only reasons I would even consider a Wii. If SSBB is amazing and online play is good, I might end up getting one.
360: Waiting for a price drop and for them to stop fucking failing.
PS3: Abortion.
-

I see nothing wrong with buying a Wii as long as you get the worth while software. Unfortunately, that front is almost non existent. Now, I can understand the hesitation if people here bought Wii Play and stuff, but I don't think anyone has.
-
Your Wii clearly upsets you, just fucking sell it if you dont like it
-
Im not convinced by the Media formats but HD gaming is :-*
-
I got the browser, that's worthwhile software.
-
Ichirou don't you have a PSP? That's next-gen. :P
Also Wii is not next-gen. Just like how Smash Bros. isn't a fighting game LOLOLOLOLOZLZOZL
My thoughts:
Xbox 360- The current best of the bunch, brought down by what seems to be a plague of hardware failures. The library isn't overall amazing, but Xbox Live rocks, and really helps to make a lot of games a blast to play, becaus eof how well the multiplayer features work. It's a good system with a solid library of games that keeps growing.
Playstation- The "sleeping giant." Call me crazy, and I don't know when it's going to happen, or even how with so many 3rd party games going multiplatform, but I still firmly believe that this overpriced system will end up on top (once again) when the dust settles. The current library leaves a lot to be desired; it's small and only has a few stand-out games, plus enhanced ports like Ridge Racer 7 and Ninja Gaiden Sigma. The system is still missing that "must-buy" title. The firmware has recently become awesome, with some nice features; it's awesome being able to play PS1 and PS2 games with potentially smoother visuals and faster load times in up to 1080p. But I didn't buy this sytem to play my old games on.
Wii- It really is the "Gamecube Turbo," all joking aside. Doesn't feel next-gen, and most of the games I've tried are fun in short bursts and get old fast. It really is the system for people who don't play video games. I can see myself selling it off if the system doesn't start getting some good, original, NON PORTED games.
-
PSP Slim will be next gen. PSP Fatty is yesterday's news.

Based on what? No system in history has ever come back from where PS3 is to be #1. Nothing even came close. The market (especially in Japan) is usually decided very very quickly with few shifts in between. There are two situations that don't meet that but they had certain exceptions that helped that PS3 lacks.
The two obviously being SNES and DS. SNES in USA was behind Genesis for a long time in USA before becoming #1 but unlike PS3 it was always a very very close race and it was always a wide leader in Japan since day one. PS3 unlike SNES never was close to its competitor's in sales and never held the Japanese marketplace. Then there is DS, PSP sales on a weekly/monthly basis outdid DS for a while but DS always held the LTD lead and never lost that. PS3 never once had the LTD and the PSP "winning" season was short lived. PS3 has already come and gone past this point of when DS rose in Japan already a few months ago.
The early part of the N64/Saturn/PSX era in Japan was confusing with no real leader for a while but this time there is already a leader in Japan, Wii. And once again, at this point in it's life PSX already broke through in Japan after the intial potential for Saturn to lead.
Why do you think it will come out of a extremely distant third place (that is currently tracking behind what gamecube did)? I don't see any logic in that view and I don't see many predicting that. Most level-headed sony fans hope/predict it to surpass 360 to be #2 but never #1.
-
As sad is it makes me, I don't think anyone can catch that stupid fucking Wii.
I think Sony can catch MS, but they really need to get their act together by lowering the price of the PS3 and by announcing more games that people want to play, third party in particular.

Catching 360 *is* possible, it would take a lot of work and effort but it can be done. It's case closed for Wii being the market leader at this point it seems though.
-
360 is bomba in japan and isn't selling omg awesome in europe.
ps3 has a good chance of>>>360ltd, sure, if they drop the price.
drop the fucking price so i can buy one together with mgs4
-
Funny how 360 is bomba in Japan, but has the most Japanese support.
-
it is what it is
the wii :-\
-
Funny how 360 is bomba in Japan, but has the most Japanese support.
because 360 us+japan is greater than ps3 us+japan in numbers

But it makes no sense as to why Wii is getting little support. Is it because no one BUYS the more traditional games for Wii?

Wii Sports and Wii Play are burning up the charts in Japan, but really, nothing else is.

in america basically anything Nintendo releases for Wii sells insanely well far surpassing the entries on gamecube. It's crazy.

Really? I thought it was just Wii Play that was selling like hotcakes here.

So Atari is making Jenga for the Wii... WTF?!?
This is why I hate the Wii. It threatens gaming as we know it.
-
JENGA?!

Cause only recently have developers been trying to get their act together to make games for it.
