lol my spelling is horrible, read this paragraph that I did for my LA final, I thought it was funny. ( got Voltaire in it :-*). Is working out working?
Ethics
We, as people living in the now, have a very serous problem; the problem with vocal old people who refuse to go with the tides of change. This can be shown with the book Ethics – ironically from “The Senior Issues collection”. In reading this collection of essays one imagines that the editors are old tried women. I believe Gilda Leitenberg to be a nighty year old whom became disenfranchised with youth after a child, probably my age, unknownly didn’t offer up his seat on the bus because he was to busy watching his Ipod video and Kathy Evens of belonging to some neo-KKK group that wants to return to the golden time of virtues in the 20's and 30's. If I was to reply to this book I would wright a letter as fallows: I have revived your new book, ma’am’s, against this new generation, and I thank you for it. In reading it one wishes to go back to a simpler time, a better time where it was acceptable to beat a woman for eying a black man. Unfortanitly I have developed a taste for human rights, a taste that I don’t think I can soon forget. Nor do I think people can ignore this taste for our brave new generation has found value in other things – different things we hold greater than small social curticies. Just look at this quote on virtues
“ Nature will not abide a vacuum, and because we have let the positive particulars go, they have been replaced with degeneracy, indifference, and vice. Our streets explode with cruelty and criminality, and our homes are rife with violence and abuse. To many higher moral road and take the bath to satisfy greed while they voice hollow rhetoric”
[Kathy Evens, 1995, p.8]
Long quote I know, but I think each statement stupidity adds to the last. To say that our world is worse than yours! how, glaucoma must have set in; blinded with age. Our problems maybe more advertised, more shown, more in the limelight but that doesn’t mean they are new problems or any worse than your day. You say abuse takes more in the home but it’s only abuse because you said it’s abuse. Didn’t the generation before yours call it husbandly rights? Can’t you see the tides of change now and how much better we are? Or has television destroyed your ignorance? Is that why you wright? Did you not know the problems you sighted us for are much more proficient in your age? If I was to sign this letter I would sign in Voltron, as that maybe the modern day equivalent tot he pen name Voltaire. The problem isn’t in this new age, it’s in your unwillingness to adapt, to modify your morality to our new values and morals. Now wasn’t my rant on your generation just as silly as yours on mine? Remember that next time you write, or better yet remember dinosourses shouldn’t write, they but should rather spend their time trying to evolve...or don’t you believe in that too?
* Note: the letter part is based slightly on a letter of Voltaire’s to Rousseau upon receiving Emile. Also this book wouldn’t have gotten this attack had they not abridged Meno down to four pages – in large text
