everyday, they have a topic called "pray for President Bush"

i kid you not.

yet, strangely, i read the site every single day.

never seen a group of more delusional paranoiacs.

it's as if 9/11 ushered in a new, acceptable form of insanity.

That's presuming you love the sport of election season, which I definitely do. Otherwise, I just scan them for news now and then.

Free Republic has that sort of super-conservative edge to it which makes them a funnier read than the liberal crazies. Thinly veiled racism, violence as a solution, and the presence of some degree of moral absolutism-things no liberal blog's community would tolerate-come together to turn the batshit crazy dial all the way up.

I wish there was a good left-leaning blog that had a community that:

*) Had no problems not being PC, no slurs but then again no tiptoeing common language so as not to piss of some hypersensitive reader.
*) Spoke of the hardcore American conservative with the same degree of contempt as a normal person would of child pornographers.
*) Gleefully mocked people of faith, while observing their right to be as dumb as they want.
*) Didn't have any aspirations or delusions of influence in the political arena.

I'd post there. I was just commenting recently on how much I sort of didn't like blanket tolerance as part of the liberal stereotype-not all of us are love-everyone dirty hippies.

It's not bad in that regard, but I feel I have to tiptoe too much there and most of the time think better of replying to a lot of the threads since you never know when someone will get fussy and start whining to the mods. Also, the heavily dogmatic libertarians there are as insufferable as the hardcore Wii fans are in the Gaming forum, and forum decorum and rules don't give you the needed tools to marginalize and ridicule their views properly.

There's like eight or so, and they find their way into nearly every damn political thread during the day (when I mainly read GAF). Not being able to call a spade a spade in that venue results in serious word parsing and post fisking, guaranteed to derail any decent thread.

I dunno, somehow I manage to blatantly insult everyone I don't like over there and not get banned as a general rule. Blackace banned me for making fun of religion a while ago, but other than that I'm pretty much able to do as I please. But then again, I'm pretty sure no one takes me seriously at all- maybe that's the trade off.
