Title: Would this be considered racism?
Post by: Himu on June 21, 2007, 03:02:50 PM
I've been chatting with a female friend. We're tradiing each other youtube links of some of our favorite love songs, and I gave her this link:

She said,"Black people music is usually a "no thanks". Nothing personal, I just don't like their music!" What the hell? So I keep telling her that's such a narrow minded view point to consider, but she won't budge. I'm not too sure what's it like being a white person listening to other culture's music, but when I consider "white people" music, it goes across the whole board, so limiting one genre of one's culture music to "____ music" seems a tad silly.

What do you guys think?

Well, I'd probably say "no thanks," but I wouldn't call it black people music. :lol

nah, it's immature and ignorant.  hip hop is widely regarded as "black people music" because of it's nature.  she's just dumb and ignorant.

I hear the music press call stuff "black music" or "white music" all the time, the latter usually as a disparaging term though.

This is why you should just decide to go whole hog in one direction or the other, himumu.  Either be an effete animu loving nerdling or an actual black dude.  You just confuse us white people when you try to have depth.

White people don't even have music, they've just stolen so much that we consider it there's now. Tell her I said that, then tell her while her ancestors were fucking monkeys and creating AIDS in caves we were building pyramids and being kings

some people are brought up racist and think it's ok.

that's ok, tons of blacks are racist to whites and it IS ok.

example:  someone got banned on gaming age for saying "blackies"

wonder how many bans "whities" has initiated.

normally i'd say there's something wrong with her, but there's just as much wrong with a black person who says they don't like white music.

huh?

I'm guessing it's not that hard to prove a point against "black" music so there's probably something you're leaving out.

I know a group that shares Ichirou's taste in music. It's just too bad the KKK doesn't allow spics in.
