Title: Is This A Fine Looking DVD Player?

My mom is in need of a new one, so I thought I'd get her one.

She has this big plasma screen that probably eats children when they're not around, so I'm lookign for one that ups to HD.

Looks just fine to me. Although, I'd recommend getting one of the Samsung upconverting players, since they can be easily hacked to play all regions.

But, I'm guessing your mom probably doesn't care about that.

Is there a huge HUGE difference between something like this an an HD DVD player?

Yes. But if your mom has no interest in buying HD-DVDs (and I'd recommend against her jumping into the HD format war right now), an upconverting player will do her just fine.

i just bought an hd dvd player, so tell your mom to buy one.  I don't want to be the only one on a potentially sinking ship
