I understand age being a problem if its a legal issue, a lot of guys wouldn't want to take that risk (but even then I think 18 being the legal age is really ridiculous,its like saying 16 year olds cannot freely make their own decisions). But if it was legal, and the girl was on your maturity level, you got on really well, all boxes were ticked and she didn't look young, I don't understand why there would be a problem if she was some years younger. Really baffles me that a guy would turn down a 17 year old girl who was perfect for him (and it was legal) purely because she's not 18.

I guess it's more of a mental thing on my part in terms of barriers best not crossed. I know a few hot 17 year olds who actually really like me, but I'd never make the move. It's not something I can logically defend I guess, it's just a "no no" for me.

Honestly, this is a complicated issue. Alot of guys older than 18 see plenty of hot young women everyday. But the problem is that in America, especially in the South, people freak out if it becomes public that a guy over 18 was doing a 16/17 yr old girl. Some people would dismiss it and go on, but alot of people (mainly hypocritical religious people (Not saying all religious people are hypocrits mind you) from what I see.) go off and try to get the guy arrested or worse. Just look at what happened to that Wilson boy in Atlanta. People freaked because a 15 yr old gave a 17 yr old a BJ and they jailed the guy and tried everything in their power to keep him in jail. If that happens with underage sex, imagine if he had actually been 19? He'd still be in jail. Thus why some guys are so cautious.

If I grew up in the UK or some place where the age of consent was 16 I'd definitely have a different perspective. And like I said, even if I visited the UK today and some 16/17 year old was interested I'd turn her down.

There's a pretty important reason why I can't do it actually. I'm lucky enough to have a great boss, and he has a daughter who is 17 (who really looks and acts like a 17 year old so I'm not even remotely interested) as well as two older daughters. If a 30 year old asked out his 17 year old daughter I know what his opinion would be.
So if I asked out this 17 year old who works in our office, I think his opinion of me would be altered. He's an awesome guy and I don't want to jeopardise a great working relationship.
So as much as I'd like to, I really have to exercise some restraint on this. :(
