I count as one negative tally cause im not getting one with a line-up like that. PS3 launch line-up sux too. What happened to third parties making GOOD games for system launches?I'd like to know what you would consider a good launch then. If you like PRG adventure games, Zelda is often considered as good as it gets. If you like arcade raciing, Excite Truck sounds like it's gonna be very solid. If you love old skool 2d shooting Metal Slug is da bomb, and this is every freaking game in the series all on one disk! *head explodes*
It's a pretty mediocre launch and this is from coming from someone who likes and will eventually buy a Wii.I'd like details though. What would you consider a good launch? Is it realistic for any console to launch with two or there massive titles? I mean Zelda is a huge game in both scope, and quality. Can you recall a launch where a system launched with two titles of that quality?
Zelda is a GameCube a game, dude. I have a feeling you won't recognize that. I played Excite Truck at E3. And Metroid Prime as well. Both fun titles, but not worth buying a $250 console for.Yeah, it is a Gamecube game, but does that really matter? Does that somehow make the game less impressive? Especially when some of the early impressions have been that the Wiimote actually adds to the experience, rather than detracts. Also , if you're an HDTV owner the Wii version of the game is widescreen and the Cube version is not. Thats a big deal to an HDTV owner.
Nintendo will get my money later with either Galaxy or Smash Bros.

I'm also excited about the virtual console as well. I've never been a person who dabbled in emulation, so i'm excited about having perfect ports of some classic games stored on a flash drive forever.
It was very hard to tell if you were talking about me, or someone else with the way you worded that.
Also, another hardcore Republican Nintendo fan. Like all the hardcore conservatives are Nintendo fanboys.
Dreamcast and PSP were my favorite launches.
PSOne, PSTwo, Xbox, X360, all shitty launch titles
It's so true! It amazes me greatly how the two things go hand and hand. I can't figure it out.

I see nothing on the Wii that's worth $250, mainly because Zelda is available on the Gamecube as well. I simply cannot justify the purchase of a new system in order to play one game; that's what I'd be doing with the Wii.Well, consider this. Zelda is out at launch, and it's supposedly going to be an 80 hour monster game. Mario Galaxy should be out some time in the first half of next year. What's the difference if you buy the Wii at launch with Zelda, vs buying it next year and likely paying the same price then? It's really unlikely they're gonna reduce the price for at least a year, and maybe even longer. Along the way i'm sure there would be game or two that you'd want to pick up.
As Federman said, once some more polished, non-minigame romps such as Mario Galaxy start coming out, I'll be more in tune with Nintendo's song and dance.

Mario Galaxy is a late 2007- early 2008 game. It wasn't started until about 6 weeks before E3. It was kinda tossed together, hence it using an old, but retextured Mario model.

Red Steel and Excitetruck are honestly awful -- I'm not sure why they got any coverage at E3. Once the novelty of waggle wears off they'll hopefully be excoriated as the crap they are.
Zelda will be awesome, waggle or no. Still: PASS. Gamecube version FTW!
My source is a reputable one. I trust him, but I doubt he'd like to be outed.
Split-screen is nothing like Goldeneye aside from the visuals and frame rate.I agree with Drinky on his Excite Truck sentiments.
Excitetruck is just a third-rate Burnout with janky novelty controls. I'm not being specious, here; this is a game that really WOULD be much better with an analog stick, and even then, it'd be a C-list title on any platform.
I'm not saying you can't make a good wagglegame, either; Trauma Center actually sounds pretty solid. But there ARE genres you don't wanna touch with even a ten-foot wagglestick, and arcade racing is one of 'em.I would have to agree that arcade racing could be dicey with the wiimote. However, I have faith that Nintendo will make the best of it, and i'm willing to give it a shot. However, I can honestly say I wouldn't touch a third party racer on this console.
I know TVC's source, and he's very legit. Well, actually, all of TVC's sources are legit -- so which ever one it is, he won't be blowin' smoke up yer wagglehole.

This is the first time in my years of gaming I will get a launch console. Even more history breaking is the fact it will be the first time I get a Nintendo console before the competition.I like Nintendo just as much as the next guy. I'm pretty excited about the Wii.

With that said I think people would have to be crazy to not buy a 360 before buying a Wii. Unless you're just a Nintendo fan only.
The 360 just offers so much more overall right now. Games like GRAW and Gears are just so much more visually impressive than anything before them on consoles. Soon Forza 2 will be out. There is just a lot to do on a 360 right now, and I just don't think Wii can even compare, at least at launch.
Next Gen has kinda sucked so far. I mean 360 is the best of them cause of its headstart and I barely play the thing.I think that has a lot more to do with your diminishing joy for playing videogames than it does for the games available for the system. Face it, you're a crusted old gamer who talks about them more than he plays them.

You'll be burned Himu, it's not worth it. I speak from experience.
This is one battered woman who's had ENOUGH of Nintendo's abuse.
At least I pretty much know my system won't start failing on me 6 months after launch. That's a plus.
I'm getting Zelda and... a used Gamecube. :lol
Seriously, I've figured out the way to enjoy Nintendo home consoles. Buy one at the end of the lifecycle for dirt cheap, and stock up on a shit ton of good games. For $100, you can get Zelda and a used cube, and then spend the extra $150 on awesome titles like RE4, various Monkey Balls, and, uh... whatever else was worth owning on the gamecube.

I don't think I've ever been so not excited by next gen console launches in my life.Ditto.

Basically, the only reason to get a Wii at launch is if you're a big Zelda fan.
You don't have to act like a "spastic distinguished mentally-challenged fellow" to play the Wii at all. If you've seen any Wii videos at all, you know that the way Nintendo is marketing the thing is overly dramatized.Basically, the only reason to get a Wii at launch is if you're a big Zelda fan.
Fixed.
The only folks enthused for the Wii *are* Ntards!
Gamers are playing PS2 :bow
The first line contradicts the second, comrade. Waggle doesn't appeal to me in the slightest.
So this place is OA if people disagree with you. Come on.
I'd say that the third line contradicts the second. If REAL gamers would want a Wii and there are no REAL gamers left, then no one would want a Wii.
Yet we call eachother feggits and gay in the general forum, and thats ok?
I see.I'd say that the third line contradicts the second. If REAL gamers would want a Wii and there are no REAL gamers left, then no one would want a Wii.
The 3rd line was sarcasm, internet has brought out everyone bias, but there isn't anyone that isn't biased anyway.
No, that really wasn't the reason, fartbreath.
Since you did not create the gaming forum, you have no idea what youre talking about, stinky.
Wah-bedraggled
You are not a real gamer...
You are not a real gamer...
No, I'm a real gamer because current control schemes work GREAT for me, and I play the PS2 where ALL THE GAMES ARE! I wasn't one of the bawling Nintard brigade that sat out the last two generations by playing only Nintendo consoles -- I was playing the TWO GREATEST CONSOLE GAMING LIBRARIES OF ALL TIME: THE PSONE AND PS2. :heartbeat
However, if consoles moved to mouse/keyboard, I wouldn't cry :D
Woe is having hard time understanding why some of us don't want to repurchase a Gamecube.
Yeah, the N64 gave us some great fucking first-party games and was probably the peak of Nintendo as a game developer.
halogen lamps and direct sunlight fuck up the Wii's sensor bar.Does anybody use halogen lights indoors?
er, most floor lamps are halogen.Wii play in the dark!
I'd think the console being a GAMECUBE for all intents and purposes would be enough to keep folks away
halogen lamps and direct sunlight fuck up the Wii's sensor bar.
Being more powerful than the Cube or Xbox is probably one of those things you dont wanna spread around.
It does have the stench of failure already associated with it. Much like Olimario.

Much like your facial hair.
Look, I know you're GAf elite and all, but could anything be lamer than talking shit about someone who can't respond back? Go to fucking OA and tell Gary what a failure he is; oh but you're afraid of OA 'cause you'll get torn apart like the douchecunt that you are.
BY THE FUCKING WAY I still haven't played a Wii OR a PS3 yet. I think I'll go to the mall at lunch and get my nerd on.
Cornelius, I'm gonna say this once and then move on: you have an unfortunate tendency to take the internets far too seriously. Go play some games. I don't post on OA because there's no real reason to, and that includes mocking Gary. I like it here a whole lot, and I think if you relax you'll find you like stuff too, instead of being all wound up all the time.
Of course, this all could just be the drunk in me talking.

I like plenty of stuff without kowtowing to your smug, condesending, elitist bullshit. I'm also a bigger drunk than you could ever imagine yourself being, and that is the drunk in me talking, then vomiting all over your beard.
Cornelius is just our resident grump. Personally, I like his weird combination of reserved amiability and outright hostility, because a forum without angry drama is a repressed shithole like GAF. Plus he drops disses like a mofo.
Corny am charming :-[
I don't have a lot of folks who I consider online "enemies". I despise Opa-Opa...
the mii stuff is the ultimate japa faggotry
I doesn't sound any more or less jappafag than the RPGs you guys worship
Since you're actually swinging the remote like you would a racket, you can hit with varying force or apply spin to the ball, depending on how you move your body.
If there's anything I wish Nintendo did more at these kiosks, it would be a full featured demo disc that gave a preview of all the various features the Nintendo Wii could possibly accomplish with this new form of control. One of which, that would be perfect for the occasion, would be a Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess Tokyo Game Show fishing demo. They should have a demo for the most interesting features at the kiosks, and I don't understand why Nintendo went solely with Excite Truck.
I don't expect to play "the same fucking games with prettier graphics" -- I expect the sort of improvement and innovation that comes with an exponential increase in RAM and processing power.
if the Gamecube had the 360's hardware, a standard controller, and better reliability, I'd declare it my OFFICIAL CHOICE FOR THE NEW GENERATION.
However, buying the Gamecube all over again bugs the fuck out of me, and my experiences with waggle have been uniformly negative.
EDIT: Those quotes sound so fake it hurts.
Gee, given that I live in Redmond, have a brother that's a former employee of Nintendo and a friend that currently *is* an employee of them: DO THE VIKING MATH.
Himuro: :o
so, Wobe, what do I need to do to convince you. Seriously.
fuck you feggits, that's work. i'll take the abuse instead. can't I get an noa employee to email you or something? :punch
i might be able to dig you up a free Wii *game*
fine, pick a NOA-published game and I'll go try to suck some dick
only for a fellow viking
sure you don't want a copy of saints row instead

While I think it may be novel enough to reinvigorate general "mainstream" interest in Nintendo as a game company, I'm definitely not convinced of the utility of the waggle. My fear is, it's going to end-up being a seldom-used-well-but-frequently-shoehorned gimmick like the touchscreen on the DS, that ultimately I could do without. Especially if doing without came with the benefit of an overall more powerful console. Even so, it's cheap (I just bought a pair of boots more expensive), I'm an enormous Zelda fan, and there are some other Nintendo franchises I like, so I have a Wii preordered.
I also don't think Drinky has played the Wii.

Check out Call of Duty 3, I thought that was well-integrated use of the Wiimote.
so what kinda examples do you want? About the games themselves? Sure.
Zelda: Pointing was sketchy. It used the A button to slash at the time, but I imagine waggling to slash is doubly irritating. I hated the fact that I couldn't control the camera like I could in WW, because it sucked.
Excitetruck: it felt like a downgraded Burnout with floaty controls and where I couldn't drift/powerslide. It felt really janky -- I just wanted to use a damn analog stick for some fuckin' PRECISION already.
Wii Sports: felt like a dumb bar novelty game. If you aren't doing dumb poses to amuse your friends while playing, then it's utterly worthless as a game -- and I don't need a game as stupid as that to entertain folks.
Even with all the hate I'm pouring down on the Wii right now, I bet if the GC Zelda reviews come out and they say it's nowhere near the Wii version, I will cave. I was pretty much planning on getting it when Mario comes out anyway.Let the landslide begin folks! You're gonna hear a lot of that real soon. All these peeps who talk of "waiting til game X is released" are gonna come to their senses and realize waiting gains them nothing but waiting. You're not gonna see a price drop for at least a year. Maybe even longer.

Of course some publications will review it low. You can see them setting things up right now like the bitches they are. These same idiots gave the GAMECUBE version best of E3 awards a couple years ago, and the game has only gotten better since then.
Basically the Wii will be the best thing that ever happened to video games. Mark my words.
The manager took me into the back and whipped it out, all I could say it was a lot smaller than I thought it would be.

I've no desire to see the industry ride on that side of the technology curve, it's too expensive, and not just for consumers. Cheaper development is a barrier to corporate controlled design. Live Arcade type environments are another answer. I'd love it if that took off in a bigger way.
I also don't think Drinky has played the Wii.

Lol Lyte is getting Red Steel. Wtf dude are you emulating Morphix?
Nintendo shipped my component cables.

So how much money will it be to play shitty 4-player Red Steel? Another $180? Or do you not need the nunchuck?
Yea, I guess that's true. But who the fuck wants a Wii? :PSo how much money will it be to play shitty 4-player Red Steel? Another $180? Or do you not need the nunchuck?

Shooting sucks and sword fighting is repetitive. Bargain bin in two months.Shooting is fun - the game is fun to play! It has it's bugs, but it's getting more playtime than Wii Sports, Trauma Center and Zelda...
