There isn't one console.
-
PS3 because it can play PSone and PS2 games too.

PS3 because it can play PSone and PS2 games too.
You might wanna check into that :)
Reports are coming that compatibility isn't that great so far.
-
PS2 slim then because PS3 is butt ugly.
-
ps2.
-
Oddly enough, if it goes by the console I've bought the most games for and that I've used on a more consistent basis, the 360. lolz
-
There isn't one console.
If you don't pick one, you get none - sucker.
-
PS2
-
I cannot choose between earthbound and everything else.
Soo SNES FTW
-

PC then.
-
PC is not a console.
-
PS2!
-
3DO
-
Dreamcast
-
Free games ftw.
-
It just had the best games, period. Sure I may have been exposed to them via the wonders of piracy but... still. I just :heartbeat the shit outta my little DC.
-
PS3 because of PS1 and 2 backwards compatibility.
-
PC is not a console.
Through emulators yes.
-
PS2.
-
Right now, definitely the PS2 (ignoring the backwards compatibility of consoles).
-
Gotta say PS2--or as folks are suggesting, PS3 with PS1&2 BC. All told, an enormous library of great titles.
-
Wii for virtual console or PS3 for PSX/PS2 playback.
I cheat. :-*
-
SNES!
-
PS3 if you count the backward compatibility.
If not, SNES.
Even though it's the one Nintendo console I never have had :'(
-
X360 best console to date.
-
Again, either the PS3 or the SNES.
And that, my friends, is a hard fucking choice between those two.
-
PS3 because it'll have the greatest selection of next-gen games
-
ROLLEYES
-
Hmm...probably the PS3, just because it can play PS1 and PS2 games as well. But then again, a modded Xbox can also play so much. I can't decide!
You might wanna check into that :)

Nah. It's also far better than what the 360 has to offer with its B/C. :/
-
PS2
-
SNES :heartbeat
definitely
-
xbox
Mame :-*
-
I play 360 more than anything else.
There are some good retro systems, but a lot of those games are being ported to portables or are emulated on PC anyway.
-
PS3
You have BC for PS1 and PS2 and its been stated that Homebrew may be possible in the XMB. With that said, you may be seeing emulators for the XMB dash at some point. That means SNES, Genesis, NES etc on the PS3 :D
If not in XMB than in Linux for sure (if purely through software and no Hardware acceleration)
-
Im taking a punt on Wii...
I have hope that every decent SNES, Megadrive, Dreamcast and N64 game will be available on VC. :-*
-
It's a toss-up between SNES and Sega Genesis. I like more SNES games, but I don't think I can survive without Sonic 2.
-
I would have to choose the 360. It simply offers me everything I need.
Perfect racing game controller, very powerful hardware with HD graphics, perfect online implementation for gaming, Xbox Live Arcade, and Gears of War. :D
-
360. Fuck the lowdef gaming ghetto.
-
Ooooooh - this is a toughie.
*If* backwards compatibility and the Virtual Console are included here (and I don't see why they wouldn't be), then it's a toss up between the PS2 and the Wii.
-
Ps3
- Ps1 library
- Ps2 library
- Future Ps3 library.
You just can't go wrong with a Ps3.
-
If the Wii has the entire old game library available and a SPEED UP option / saved state option..... then the Wii has completely sold me.... unless that library is like charged by the game or some shit. I'd just like to have a bundle fee, like 50 bucks or something for all the games.
-
If the Wii has the entire old game library available and a SPEED UP option / saved state option
Wii seems to be only launching with 13 Games (all NES) and there seems to be no enhancements. Basically the same state and options you would have if you were playing it on the NES.
