Yes. Please keep doing these. It makes my lunch breaks at work tolerable and much more enjoyable.

You might have actually gained a few listeners unwillingly, as I listen to the 'casts on my iPod in the car most of the time and my passengers have to listen as well.

Frag's sonybot intro was epic.

I finally finished the previous episode and I thought that was great. Frag, have you played End War at all? I heard Tom Chick praising the game for its "simplistic elegance" so I picked up the 360 version and I was shocked to see that the voice controls actually work perfectly and are alot of fun. I've only put in a few hours so far, but it seems like the most playable console RTS that I've tried.

I only tried the demo of End War, and yeah, the voice controls work incredibly well even with my whiny lisp voice.  The game itself seemed incredibly basic, even more so than Halo Wars.  It was nice that it mostly focused on attacking instead of base management, which I think other console RTS games try to do and fail at.  Pikmin is still the best console RTS I've played that doesn't feel like it's trying hard to work on the limited controls.

I can't believe you guys crapped all over Plants Versus Zombies.  It's a $10 game and while it probably isn't as deep other tower defense, PopCap has never been about making games that are as full-featured as their peers.  They created a fun project with a charming premise, addictive gameplay, and tons of cool extra modes.  Nobody is considering it as a GOTY contender and it seems as though most "Year end wrap ups" have forgotten it entirely......even calling it overrated seems a bit much.  If you dislike PvZ, you can still thank PopCap for generating a lot of new interest in the genre -- it was my first tower defense game and I'm gonna give Defense Grid a try since Frag mentioned it.

I like P vs. Z!  Frag's gotta right to his opinion, though.

:bow Reading the manual on the toilet :bow2

If I had my way, every game designer would have a copy of the Civ4 manual chained to their toilet so they could read Soren Johnson's design notes at the end of the manual frequently and without distraction. Seriously, even though it is game-specific, it is one of the best pieces on game design ever published.

As for Plants vs. Zombies, my biggest (but not only) problem with it is all about the strict adherence to the lanes, which in turn I feel strips the genre of an essential spatial puzzling/reasoning element. They try to compensate for that by adding in time management aspects (clicking on sunshine, coins, etc.) but I didn't find that they went too mixed very well together. It's definitely the complaint of a genre enthusiast and while I think the game is overrated as a tower defense game, someone who hasn't played much of them probably won't care. I don't think the tower defense genre is complex enough for a casual gaming product that you have to strip out those elements in order to make a good game for your intended audience.

I hope to move up to "Borecast Roadie" someday!

I downloaded and burned a few discs with all of their episodes.  Since I drive around and the radio plays the same dozen songs every two hours, it's a nice fix.  That or listen to Tik Tok for the 80,000th time :yuck :-\ :-X  I also use it to fall asleep.

The Borecast is pretty good because the people on the show aren't using it as a tool for more work.  Shit like the 1up show or Giant Bombcast (never listened to it but if it's like all the other gaming podcasts, I don't need to) are aggravating and terrible because everyone is a tryhard ninny who is angling for a PR position with EA.  That or Kevin Smith using his shitcast as a marketing tool to hype his next movie.

He plugs his movies way less than Prole hypes MS products.

as long as you listen, you could use our croaking as an audio-delivered ipecac or iraqi torture method -- it's all good to me! we've never claimed to be special, or that we're doing this for anything other than a little narcissism mixed with a desire to put something back into the internet community we take from, even if it's a little lame or unprofessional. it's useful for me to work on my speaking and presentation skills, plus i am totally a whore for the sound of my own voice, so hey: I GOT MINE

i blame it on smoking, and having television as a babysitter

i just get tickled when we record, doug catches me off-guard a lot

i'd imagine i silence out 25% of my laughing just so i don't sound like a gibbering mongoloid (more than usual, i mean)

deciding on bump music is my least favorite part, probably why it's all over the place genre-wise

I listen to any and all podcasts while going to sleep -- the main problem is that you eventually drift off and have to try and find your place the next day.  Plus if there's a loud section later in the show it will wake you up.  I hope that someday somebody makes an MP3 player or iPod accessory that can detect when you enter REM sleep, so that it will shut down when it knows you are no longer conscious.

I'm always game for the third seat, just drop me a message in facebook. I got a mondo bonus this year so I am treating myself to a frivolous PSP purchase  in the very near future so that I might not be a complete useless blank during the what are you playing console segments.  :lol

New ep should be out Thursday if all goes as plan according to a post from Kevin on GAF.

yeah, new episode is Thursday

the only problem i see with overseas guests is lining up the recording time, different time zones might put everyone's schedules at odds

anyone is welcome to send us voice messages, though (if i could find a free voicemail service i would set it up)

I'd love to be on the Borecast sometime... having an electronic music discussion with Eric or something. Or discussing loli RPGs with Prole.  :-*

Google Voice maybe? need an invite though.
probably the easiest is just for folks to send you mp3s.

hey hey hey hey, settle down y'all. we brought in frag as third chair because y'all ASKED for a third, and he's the best fit, personality-wise and because he was cool with the schedule/demands. if we pick a topic that suits one of y'all especially well, we'll send you an invite, but we're not actually auditioning! sorry :(

A permanent third chair is a good thing. There tends to be gaps in conversations here and there where a third person can definitely add to the convo.

Please don't say anything negative about the PSP, or I'll get alcohol poisoning.
