Rock Band has backward-compatibility across all its RB instances. Guitar Hero has... what? I can't seem to see how it works, anywhere.
GH5 and Band Hero have some kind of cross-title license where you can use their tracks in the "other" game. "Other" is in quotes because it's THE SAME GAME with a UI skin and different songs.
However, the Rocky Horror Picture Show DLC pack has just come out for GH Warriors of Rock. I have no idea how to discern if it works with Guitar Hero 5. Anyone else have a clue?

No.
As in. No, you cant play it on GH5.

Correction: No more DLC works with RB2,L:RB or RB1 as of this weeks Doors DLC.

I can't wait to get home to download this.
EDIT: WTF. I posted in the Pinball FX 2 thread and it appeared here.... ??? ???

Thanks for the info! Crap. I was just recently wishing there was an RHPS game, or at least Rock Band tracks. Now this comes out, but there's no way I'm paying 60 bucks for a game just so I can pay 5 more for DLC... just to play 3 songs.

Oh, hey. I hadn't even considered that HMX would drop backward compatibility, but it makes sense. They'd probably have to update RB1 and RB2 to ignore whatever data, and at this point that's effort toward supporting stuff that doesn't make them new money while they're making something that does.

I really want some Rocky Horror (and Hedwig and the Angry Inch) tracks in Rock Band. I'm not buying Guitar Hero for them, though.

Really? Fuck them then.

Why? They're no longer supporting a two-year-old game with new DLC? What other 2-year-old game is still launching new DLC?

TF2 8)

The only reason it isn't backwards compatible is because the file formats are different due to keyboards and pro instruments. Kinda sucks, but I'd rather have those options than gimped DLC.
