The only beer I have at home is a bottle of Anchor Christmas Ale. I should drink it before the holiday season is over.

I was at a bottle shop the other night for a tasting, and they cracked open a bottle of Anchor's Christmas beer... an aged vintage from 1980.

It was terrible. :lol

Hop bombs aren't for everyone. I personally don't like lagers, biere de gardes, or rauchbiers.

Rauchbier is probably the only beer I detest, tried having one with some meat but it was still too smokey.

Whats bieres de gardes?

A lager can be really nice when youre thirsty or when its warmish, wouldnt quench my thirst with an ale or some belgian beer.

I actually read somewhere that the aspirationall classes only drink wine.

Quote
European Union regulations allow for more than 50 different flavourings, additives, preservatives and agents to be added to wine. Only sulphites, which are used as preservatives and have a possible causal link to asthma, have to be listed on labels.
Among the additives which can be added without listing are clay, acid, artificial yeasts, enzymes, sugar, gelatin, and charcoal. Eggs and a milk protein called casein can also be used, while another permitted additive is the fish bladder extract, isinglass.
Additives are added to many of the most popular brands. The Australian winemaker Hardys adds yeast to its merlot and also uses egg, milk and gelatin to 'fine' the wine – making it less cloudy. Jacob's Creek uses tartaric and ascorbic acid in its chardonnay, along with clay, enzymes and milk powder to fine the wine. Monsanto/Blossom Hill sometimes adds tartaric acids, GM enzymes and tannins to the grape juice. It also uses yeast nutrients and malolactic bacteria during fermentation of its standard red wine.

Beers better I guess.

It's a French pale ale. They're similar to saisons, which I love, but I've never had a good biere de garde.

French beer :o Will try to hunt some down one day.

The pub downstairs from my place has a beer club, if you drink all the beers on their menu you will get an engraved mug a t shirt and a 750ml bottle of beer. Theres like 30/40 beers and Im 10 in i think :)

Craft beers from ireland, uk, beers from us, germany, belgium... Cool stuff.

I've had most of their brews but never thought they stood out much, but I had a 420 IPA last night for the first time and really enjoyed it.  IPAs can be very hit or miss but this was a pretty good one.

Found a place MUCH closer to my home which has a decent beer selection. Still starts around ¥260/can for drinkable beer, and ¥580 for bottles of "the really good stuff," but I'll take it while I can. Also they have both Kyara and Ruri by COEDO brewery, which are very good. The Kyara lager is very smooth and delicate, with some fruity flavors... Yummy.

Then again, I am trying to enjoy more sake while I'm in Japan, so I bought a big bottle of junmaiginjo, which has given me a fucker of a headache today. Time for a walk in the sun.

I would honestly lick someones ass for a beer right now  :'( No money until tomorrow  :'(
If you try Geek's Breakfast by a little gypsy brewery somewhere in the USA, you can pay US$13 for the feeling of having accomplished both at the same time: you'll have had a beer which tastes like licking someone's ass.

Tried peach lambic finally (after checking it out at stores forever.)  It's pretty good.  Very sweet, but it goes down and stays down way better than cider, wine, wine coolers, hard lemonade, etc.

Lindemann's? They put sugar in their beer, so it's not a great example of the actual Lambic style. More like Kool-Aid beer.

More beer last night than I've had since leaving California.

I had several Japanese craft beer IPAs which I had never even heard of:
Hokkaido's North Island IPA from the eponymous brewery, and Shonan's Topaz IPA, which may have been my winner for the evening. I also had American Brewery's Breakaway IPA, which was smooth and beautiful, but had a hard time keeping up with the force of the first beer. Two of each of all those. I also had AmericanBlonde, which was a sour beer, and I abandoned it after only a few sips -- nine bucks sacrificed to my curiosity, would have preferred another Topaz.

Saturday night:

Boneyard Hop Venom Imperial IPA
Good Life Descender IPA
Two Beers Forester Imperial IPA
Laughing Dog Hop Dog Pale Ale
Three Floyds Stackk and Stabb Belgian Pale Ale
Block 15 Ferme de la Provisionne Saison
Hillard's Saison

Suffice to say I was hungover on Sunday. Couldn't keep anything down until 9pm last night. Ugh. Hadn't done that in years.

I can go to Fred Meyer and get a 22 oz. bottle of American Blonde for $3. And it's a Blonde/Golden ale, not a sour. Something must have been wrong with the keg they shipped to Osaka...

The beer I had was remarkably sour, like someone had lemon in levels of sour! I believe you that it's a blonde ale-- the name only makes sense that way. And, yeah, craft beer in Japan is stupid expensive! I did the math once, and at the time, with the exchange rate what it was then, it was a 750% markup.

At kamikaze, it was as follows:

small ¥650
1/2 pint ¥750
pint (US) ¥1100
pint (UK) ¥1300
...there was one more, called a mantel, or a meter or something, it was ¥1800 or ¥1900.

Next time, I'll probably get a big-ass pint of Shonan Topaz, and call it a night.

On Sunday, I brewed up some Kolsch style beer (it was an ingredient kit I got for Christmas). This is my first crack at it, so we'll see how it turns out in a couple weeks. After that, I also have some Imperial Pale Ale I can brew, and then an Irish Red Ale that came with my kit. For the first batch, I'll settle for "drinkable."

Tried my first beer in a bit (whole family's sick with flu); I'm at about 70% recovered, so thought I'd start with something really tame.

Mystic Peach - utterly crap. All the subtlety of a Bartles and Jaymes wine cooler.

IN BETTER NEWS, by some miracle, the local, podunk mall has got Bear Republic beers in stock. I am going to grab some tomorrow. ¥700/bottle, so I'm not going to go too crazy.

Unlocked 3 badges in Untappd last night; kind of feeling it today. Some tasty beers were had.

I had several Japanese craft beers; Ao Oni American Pale Ale, which I'd not been impressed with until last night, Swan Lake IPA, which was faboo, and Minamishinshuu IPA, which was like 7-Up and IPA mixed together -- not great. Steelhead Imperial IPA was nice; never had it before. Those were the high points of the evening.

Also had Leffe Blonde, Hoegaarden, and finished with a shot of Jagermeister because who needs clarity?

My brother! In Japan, all beers are $8.

Not completely true: import craft beers in supermarkets are $8/12 oz. bottle, and just about any restaurant charges $8 for a standard sized draft beer.

Yesterday was Seafair Saturday. For those non-Seattle people, Seafair is our yearly hyrdoplane race/Blue Angel airshow/general excuse for people to enjoy the weather and drink a lot. My friends live down in South Seattle so the Blue Angels fly right over their backyard. And they have AC which is nice on a 87 degree day.

Drank way too much good beer over the course of ten hours, but was surprisingly sober when we came home.

Oh yeah, what other beers did they have at Costco.

The beers I listed were hand-carried by a friend. CostCo has SHIT-ALL for beer: They have the lovely Kirkland selection, which I very much like, since it's REAL BEER but ¥150 a bottle, cheaper than everything except happoshuu or chuu-hai; they have Belgian Gold, which has been discredited by my least-discerning beer friend; and they have Asahi Super-Dry and a few variations of the macro brew happoshuu and alc-free drinks. Nothing interesting otherwise.

They have a HEAP of cheap-to-reasonable wines, of which I also availed myself -- but no good beer other than the Kirkland.

I had the Grapefruit Slam from that Stochastic line of beers. It was fabulous.

This month's GQ Japanese edition has about 1/3 of the articles dedicated to Japan's approach to the craft beer movement. Kirin is making their own line of craft beers. Suntory has already been putting some decent dunkels into stores, and more craft beer spots are opening in Osaka. Now I just have to earn some scratch to be able to avail myself of it as frequently as I'd like.  ;)

Now that Gordon Biersch sub-label Kirkland brews at ¥150 are 15 minutes away by car, I suspect I will not need to. However, you had some crafty beers while you were here. Kirin Grand Aroma isn't bad by any means. Suntory's Bitter Aroma is nice. But considering they're both the same price as LEGIT GOOD Coedo Kyara, I don't frequently indulge their way.

Gundam did you pick up any Founder's or Bell while in Michigan?

Yep. Brought home bottles of Devil Dancer, The Oracle and Double Crooked Tree. Had lots of Shorts, Dark Horse, Bells and Founders on tap and bottle.

Went to Ashley's, Fraser Pub and Jolly Pumpkin in Ann Arbor. Chelsea Brewery in Chelsea and Kuhnhenn in Warren.

Any local craft options available?

Local. Craft. Not yet. There are heaps and heaps of craft breweries now joining the throng of Japanese craft brewers, and that's truly exciting. The Craft Beer Live event I went to earlier this year showed how many people are getting into beer which isn't an adjunct lager from a macrobrewery. I may have also mentioned that August's GQ Japan had about half its bulk devoted to covering the scene. It's really taking off.

However, many of the local options have still been pretty poor. I'd say the local efforts, sadly, are not only expensive (¥600~700 per 12 oz.) about on par with recent "crafty" efforts by the actually-local Suntory brewery. Most of the good craft stuff is coming from further away.

Duchesse de Bourgone is GROSS. Tastes like bile.
Ooh, thanks for warning me off that. I've seen it at the local super and been curious a few times, but hadn't yet tried it.

Sorry to casual up your thread, but it's pumpkin beer season and New Belgium's Pumpkick ain't so bad. Tastes a bit like pumpkin pie filling without being sweet. 6% ABV so it's not a watered down 6 pack.

They're legit. I tend not to drink the standard New Belgum lineup much, but their Lips of Faith stuff is killer.

New local pickups yesterday. The Black Raven/Stone collab is distributed through BR, so probably not available outside the Seattle metro area.

That attitude is just as annoying, breh.

I do drink for taste and also to support local breweries. Most of the big adjunct lagers have way too much of that sweet corn flavor. And go ahead and drink what you like, I don't care. Doesn't bother me one bit.

So I mentioned finding a mess of Bear Republic Hop Rod Rye. This runs $8 a bottle in the local import/craft beer section. I came home and my MIL who really only likes local (Japanese) macros had opened one and was drinking it. "I didn't know which ones were safe," she said.

I'm thinking, Well, the ones with a price take that says half off and is still twice the price of the beers you like is probably not a safe place to start.

I love my mother-in-law, she's wonderful, but she sure manages to destroy my private reserve WHILE complaining about how bitter it all is. :lol

We hung out with my wife and drank a Pliny the Elder at our house while complaining about the election, and then headed over to Bellevue to see Cruncheon and Treesong at Tap House Grill. Then we went to Black Raven Brewing in Redmond. ALL THE BEERS WERE CONSUMED.

Russian River Pliny the Elder
Breakside Wanderlust IPA
Boneyard RPM IPA
Bear Republic Tartare Rouge
Black Raven Trickster IPA with Coffee and Vanilla Beans (cask)
Black Raven Gunpowder Plot (porter with coffee beans and cocoa nibs soaked in Bourbon) on nitro
Black Raven Nothing But Flowers Session IPA

No ghosts were harmed during the course of the night.

Despite Van Cruncheon’s irrational and cruel character assassination of IPAs, there is a wide variety within the style.

Last night I enjoyed a Ninkasi Total Domination, and New Belgium’s Rampant. Both fantastic and substantially different flavor profiles. I also had Manny’s Pale Ale, which was a blast, but unfortunately hard to compare after the IPAs.

Well, it's a big Spanish brewery that I know very little about beyond the fact that we used to share big bottles of their unremarkable beer some years ago.

Now apparently they're family owned and I haven't gone back and tried their stuff ever since I actually started caring about beer, but it still seems like a weird match. If Founder's wanted to grow globally, a Spanish macrobrewery seemed pretty far down the list of possible partners to me.

Wish they'd sold out to someone in the UK/Belgium/Germany. Then you could at least expect distibution around here to pick up earlier...

Also, has anyone followed the development of Goose Island? Seems like they haven't changed too much after selling out, have they?

BTW, Baird was a featured beer at Mikkeller Bar in San Francisco in December. I opted out in favor of things I can’t get in Japan, but it was nice to see my feeling that Baird is “the real deal” backed up by a beer snoot place like Mikkeller. BTW, Mikkeller’s Tenderloin IPA is one of the best I’ve had. Christ, it was stunning.

Mikkeller distributed some Baird beers like 1.5 years ago. It's how I got to try some of them.

Mikkeller itself can be really disappointing. I think I've had more bad than good Mikkeller beers, which shouldn't happen considering the prices.

Shelton Brothers handle Baird here in the states, unfortunately everything is way old and the hops are gone by the time we get bottles. The darker beers hold up well.

Everything from them has been stellar when I've visited the Harajuku and Nakameguro taprooms, though.
Title: Re: BEEEEEEEEERRRRRRRRRR

Yeah, I’ve only had Baird in Japan, so it’s pretty fresh. Mostly I’ve had it on tap, but I did have a bottle of Suruga Bay IPA, and it held up alright.

My first Mikkeller was “Geek’s Breakfast” - a stout with bacon, coffee, and oatmeal. Thirteen dollars. It tasted like bicycle inner tube. I was not anxious to try more. The San Francisco taproom was awesome though; my first beer there was their Jackie Brown, just about the nicest brown ale I’ve ever had. They also have a Real Fucking Chef on staff (that’s a technical term) who specializes in sausage. Consequently, it was also one of the best sausages I’ve ever had.

So now my thoughts on Mikkeller are kindly.

Headed to Cabo San Lucas in the morning for a few days. Staying at an all-inclusive resort so much Tecate and Tecate Light will be consumed, but there are actually two craft breweries in town: Baja Brewing and Ramuri. I've had a bunch from Baja before and they're not great, but I've heard really good things abotu Ramuri before.

Also stoked for some more Dos Equis Radlers. Aw yeah.

if i ever did make it to japan, i'd go crazy on scotch and bourbon most likely, combined with the amount of ramen i'd consume i probably wouldnt it make it back alive

That's sad. Lagunitas is one of my favorite breweries, but it sounds like the guy has a bad attitude.

I'm not stoked to think of Elysian being bought by the biggest macro-brewer in the country; it will almost certainly signal changes in their competent line-up. But bringing bedroom politics into the whining isn't as progressive an attitude as I'd like to see from my NoCal brewer.

Our store got a whole line of Prairie Ales:

Pirate Bomb
Prairie Ale
Prairie Hop
Birra
Standard
Wine Barrel Noir
Fred's Blend (this sounds good)

Already got the Pirate Bomb and the Prairie Hop, any of the others worth a slice of my limited budget?

Edit: Just checked RateBeer. Goddamn, those ratings across the board...

Prairie is good. Expensive, but good. Haven't had a bad beer from them.

I'm mostly wondering about Standard and Fred's Blend.

Can Standard hold a candle to Prairie Hop? Cause it kinda sounds like I'd get a smaller bottle of a lower ABV beer for the same price.

And is Fred's Blend different enough from Pirate Bomb to be worth buying?

Prairie Hop was really great. That's the kind of beer I'd absolutely love to have around everyday for a reasonable price. German breweries are starting to do hoppy saisons, but it's not quite on the same level yet.

Local super got a new line of Japanese “craft” beers in. I peeked at Untappd to see if I should pay the ¥350-400/can for them. Nothing but flat 3-star ratings for the lot of them. Pilsners and Ambers only. May have been a Kolsch in there as well. No styles I like. NO THANKS.

Going back to Kirkland and Coedo, sadly.

Forgot to mention, the other store which carries import beer and sometimes Yo-Ho and Coedo, had a separate display of “CRAFT BEER” recently. It was exclusively imported beer, but almost all of it Euro macrobrewery stuff. Duchess du Bourgogne and a couple crap Spanish pilsners I can’t remember.

I wanted to box someone’s ears.

I had a couple Minoh beers. I love the W-IPA, but something in it gives me a hangover. I only had one, and the next morning was oddly foggy, and I had a headache. Also on deck was their Imperial Stout which was pretty damned great. I need more of it, though at $5/bottle, it’s a little pricy for my current income level.

That's a bummer. It's a really great beer. Lots of good British IPAs these days, and they tend to arrive at least a little bit fresher than their American brethren over here.
Beavertown is great too, and has the best labels.

Is BrewDog a known name at all over there?

Also, the IPA craze is really... crazy

"But within that category, retail sales of craft IPAs are climbing fast: In 2014, when craft beer sales were up 17.6% by volume—compared to the overall beer market’s 0.5% growth—craft IPA sales exploded at 45-50% growth, says Bart Watson, chief economist at the Brewers Association."
Title: Re: BEEEEEEEEERRRRRRRRRR

Yeah, there’s stuff earlier in the thread about people who bitch about IPA/hoppy beers “ruining” the scene, all the while neglecting that they have four times more beer of all other styles available to them, even if there are 16 times more IPAs available. Drives me batshit. STOP WHINING, YOU ALREADY HAVE MORE.

I’ve been living La Vida Cerveza since arriving stateside. I was having some beers while staying at my Mom’s place in Idaho, but now that I’m in California, I’ve hit the Karl Strauss tap house, and even had a great afternoon at Stone Brewery yesterday. I tried their new recipes for the Pale Ale, IPA, and Smoked Porter (might not have been new, but it was new to me).

I need to pick up some weird stuff to drag back to Japan and have on standby for the craft beer nerds in Osaka.

IPAs WOAT confirmed:

Quote
Not many people know this, but those hops in your favorite IPA are actually wonderful medicine for insomnia and menopause, thanks to their high phytoestrogen content. These same phytoestrogens, however, might be less desirable for men, as indicated by the common condition known among brewers as Brewer’s Droop.

Yes, you read that right: Hops are giving men man boobs.

In the book Sacred and Herbal Healing Beers, herbalist Stephen Herrod Buhner describes the three standard uses of hops in herbal medicine: as a sleep inducer; as a diuretic that successfully promotes urine flow; and finally, as a natural source of phytoestrogen to treat menopause and endometriosis. The herbalist Susan Weed also refers to hops as a nutritive painkiller, a sleep-inducing herb, and as an effective supplement to boost milk production in lactating women.

I really enjoyed Sierra Nevada Beer Camp 2015. If you haven't tried it yet, give it a try before they are gone.

Soy is also high in phytoestrogen. It's typically not an issue for people with normal consumption.

Suntory, the macro which happens to be nearest to where I live, has been producing "crafty beers" all year long. They've been half-measures against competence, but I've tried every one which came out. Finally on 12/15 they launched an American IPA, which I just had.

It's as uninspired as anything else in their line-up.

It's about the same quality as other domestics like Bud/Miller/Coors, but almost half the price. It's not like I'm talking about Ice House or Steel Reserve.

Oh, don't mind me; I'm not judging, just bitter. Asahi Super-Dry is ¥180/can here, and the only way to get close to even $5/sixpack here is to get something called "happoshū" which I think is just a malt beverage and is horribad. Decent beer is ¥260/can, and good beer is between ¥500-1000 per 12 oz/33cl bottle.

I have actually only had Bud once, at a Japanese place where it was touted as an import. Tasted miserable, like formaldehyde or plastic. Just miserable. I had a Coors once when I was a kid; my parents gave it to me as a joke, and it ended up keeping me from drinking anything until I turned 21.

Bud/Miller/Coors don't really taste GOOD, but they're cheaper and not bad enough to not drink. PBR and Hamm's also taste pretty similar. None are like WOW THIS TASTES SO GOOD, but none are bad enough that you won't drink them if you want to get drunk. Even Busch is pretty gross as well, but I've had plenty of craft or specialties that were much much grosser and much much more expensive.

I ain't drinking beer to improve my personality  :foxx

Fair enough. I don't really drink to get drunk, I drink because I like the taste and to get a bit buzzed. Actually, whisky is only for the taste, since I don't get buzzed, just sleepy.  :-\

You'll never escape the macro-brew overlords.

You'll never escape the macro-brew overlords.

Stone Brewery has set up a $100M company to help sponsor smaller brewers; I wouldn't be surprised if the contract language includes time limits prohibiting being purchased by macrobreweries.

Hey Chrono,

Fremont is now distributing to Japan via Evergreen Imports. I've asked the owner if Osaka will see any or it is just gonna be Tokyo. Ask at your local bars!

YYYYYYEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH~!

Even if they're not in Osaka yet, it likely means it will find its way down here. And I've got a cousin I can sic on a Tokyo beer-hunt before we let him come back to Osaka.

Also, you might know, but are any Japanese beer places kid friendly? Addie will be coming with us in April, and I honestly never remember seeing kids anywhere we went.

Weissbiers aren't my thing, but I'll respect your commitment to it implied by image size.

You know, I rarely see kids, but AFAIK, they are all kid-friendly. Bars aren't but the craft beer spots seem to be gastro-pub-ish in nature. That Craft Beer Base place we hit in Umeda is run by a Mom who owns several places. A really nice one that is the newly-reopened dIG BEER BAR is right across from a park.

I know Lingua World Café is organized AROUND having it be a family space. Kamikaze allows kids no problem, though people smoke there.

I think you'll be fine.

OH, while you're in Tokyo, you've got to hit Devilcraft and/or Craft Beer Market. The latter was my dinner spot after a great day of interviews at Disney Japan — stupid expensive real estate, but CBM is reasonable and has great food.

Since I dont think anyone here is Scottish im going to name drop brewdog scottish brewed beer. They sell internationally but not so frequent, I recommended to a guy in Canada who found some in a bar locally and loved it. Made with fresh raw materials sourced from the highlands (dat fresh water tho <3), amazing taste, if you happen to come across it, you wont regret giving it a shot.

Brewdog sells all over Japan, and it's pretty popular. Cormacaroni came out to play in Tokyo last time I was up, and we went out for barbacoa and beers — sadly, the Brewdog Pub was CLOSED and we had to sully ourselves with sitting in the neighboring TGIF over Asahi Super Dry.  :-\

Em and I had dinner with Cormac at the Devil Craft in Hamamatsucho last time we were in Tokyo. Had some really nice beers.

BrewDog is fine. They've recently opened up a facility in Ohio, but I'd never think about buying their stuff due to Seattle and the PNW have a ridiculous glut of fantastic breweries. It's hard not to buy local.

Actually I know that certain aspects of Scottish culture is quite popular in Japan so im not all that surprised brewdog managed to get a name for itself relatively quickly over there, but to actually have opened their own pub there is quite surprising and cool. Although I think the reason they have Tokyo in an elaborate sign i my local makes a lot more sense.

Next time you go in ask for "sink the bismark" its expensive, like £42 / bottle, but they also normally do drams of it like you would a shot of spirits. It's 47% beer, not something I would drink regularly, but it is an experience.

I'd gladly buy a bottle of Tactical Nuclear Penguin (Chrono knows why), but but ice distilled beer is illegal in the US.

BrewDog is a known name here, but not very beloved among beer fans. The owners have a show on cable here called BrewDogs where they go around North America.

Just googled it as I never heard of that one tbh, it's at 32% Tbf sounds like it has potential to be more enjoyable over a longer period of time compared to bismark.

Edit: brewdog have their own show, what the actual fuck haha.

It's ok. I had fun watching the Seattle and Portland episodes and questioning the places they visited.

No problem whatsoever. I wouldn’t be surprised if they worked with a voice coach to tone them down.

Mr Gundam is your only friend there, in Sours Land.

I'm starting to shift toward stouts, enjoy saisons, still love hoppy IIPAs, but cannot abide sours yet.

Visited the Baird Taproom in Nakameguro with Cormacaroni and played some Netrunner games. Cloudy/rainy outside, felt perfect to hide indoors and make a run on der zaibatsu.

It's a quarter to 1 now, I will not have slept enough to work optimally tomorrow, but holy fuck what a great Sunday.

It was indeed as good as advertised.

Held my actual birthday party like 2 days ago. Friend gave me a bottle of Jopen Onheilsprofeet. It's a Russian imperial stout that has been aged on whisky barrels. Had a great whisky/peaty taste with a chocolate finish. :)

Got my beer on quite nicely on Saturday night, finding a Tokyo brewpub having a Washington-state beer tap takeover. Melvin and Sound were the two main, with 8 or 9 taps devoted to their lineup. So I got Melvin's Drunken Master (very nice), Sound's Humulo Nimbus (still amazing), and Entendez Noel, Sound's holiday belgian quad, which I recommend to anyone who enjoys that style. It is my new favorite beer.

I'll be hitting the same venue tonight with the visiting Mr. Gundam, so I might try to convince him to get a hometown brew while in Tokyo. :lol

There's a few breweries that opened all within a 2 mile radius of one another in Holbrook. Went to 2 yesterday - 1940's and Squarehead (which opened 3 weeks ago). Some interesting flavors at Squarehead, like a pistachio pils, a hibiscus flavored saison, their own ciders. Will definitely have to go back, and also check out Spider Bite.

Got another bottle of one of my favourite beers.

Emmelisse White Label Russian Imperial Stout. Aged on Laphroaig casks this year, my favourite whisky.

Also got something called BW18, a barleywine infused with cognac and champagne.

Had a blast last month with this dude and Cormac alongside my cousin and a good family friend who lives in Saitama and his brewer/Yakuza/we're not really sure entourage. Vector Beer Factory, Watering Hole and some random Irish Pub before Chrono walked me back to the station so I'd get safely back to my wife and daughter.

Singlecut, a really great brewery in Queens, released the following NEIPA, "A Modern Day Warrior". As soon as I saw the label art, I had to rush and pick it up (called like 5 different beer distributors since Singlecut cans go fast around here). It's a pretty delicious beer too:
