If you wanted a racer Flopza 5 was already a way better pick. Still, PS4 preorder people better be able to enjoy that Killzone.

I hope that will give them enough time to increase the framerate to 60.

For the PS4 launch, in addition to Resogun, I’m pleased to announce that Contrast, the highly anticipated game from Compulsion Games will also be available to PlayStation Plus members for free as part of Instant Game Collection

I was more interested in Contrast, anyway, tbh

yeah it's fun, but it's fun in a one of the fourty games which were steam greenlit last week kinda way, not a $450 kinda way.

like frag said, you better enjoy that killzone.

From two launch game delays?   ???

The PS4 is $100 cheaper than the Xbone and is gonna have the same CoD Ghosts and Battlefield 4 releases, plus Killzone (if that even means anything).  I don't see what else would really be launch sellers other than the FPS games, and maybe some other multiplatform crap, on either platform.

Europe likes racers. Not having one on launch is a bit of a disadvantage. But given the DRM policies and stuff, I truly hope Europe doesn't go X-box just because DriveClub is delayed.

Watch Dogs may have some people wanting it on launch, but it's going across all platforms. If people really want to play that today they can get the 360/PS3 version and play that.

Or just get it on PC which'll be the same as the PS4 verison. :smug

The only exclusive AAA game releases at launch are Knack and Killzone, people can play COD Ghosts and Battlefield 4 elsewhere, and all of those indie games Sony is thumping their chests about will probably show up on Steam eventually.

They don't have anything at launch.

hurts when the messaging has been "wow ps4 supercomputer so easy to develop for!" realistically not a big deal and probably for the best, but it was one of the marquee games shown eight months ago.

in hindsight Sony should've ported/moved some PS3 games to PS4 to buff up the launch like Microsoft did.

And what does the competition has? Ryzzzz, some fighting game that has been shit since the snes and another entry into a racing franchise no one gives one shit about, sony will be fine and will eat MS lunch this upcoming launch, no one is gonna cancel their preorders or change systems because of a fucking racing game.

Your average consumer isn't playing PC games and the draw is playing this stuff on a brand new, 'next-generation' system and all that crap.  That $100 difference is what's going to move systems and having some more cookie cutter FPS games that people somehow aren't tired of yet.  And sports games, I guess...?

And what does the competition has? Yup.  Both launches suck, but at least MS seems to have more to offer.  Too bad it's a hundred bucks more.

Not here you can't. The Bore is pretty biased against racing sims. I felt the same way as a teenager but I've really enjoyed them as I've gone back and played more. Arcade racers have actually become quite boring; holding down the throttle the entire race? YAWN.

Yeah, it's fucking stupid and awful.

But it also seems like it goes against Sony's policy of "if you buy anything discounted with PS+, you keep it when you unsubscribe from PS+".  So I'll be really surprised if they don't change their stance on this Driveclub fiasco.  Unless they are changing their stance in general and PS4 games will screw you over if you buy them on PS+ and don't keep PS+.

Actually reading more about it, it seems like it's screwing up because it's counting it as DLC and not an actual game.  And if you buy DLC for a game that you got for free on PS+ and you unsubscribe, the DLC doesn't work because you don't have the game to boot into it, which is what's going on here.

What Sony should do because this is really bad PR, is change it so it's not an "upgrade DLC" from the free PS+ version, but simply that if you own the PS+ version you get a $10 discount from buying the retail "game" on the PSN store.  That would fix this and people would still keep the game when they unsubscribe.  They're not changing their original policy, they just screwed up by marking this as a DLC upgrade instead of a retail game.

I'm already spending that money on PS+ so it's not an added cost for me. If I like the free version and if it plays well with my racing wheel then I might be willing to pay full price for it. You have the same issue with all multiplayer focused games. It's not like you can play MAG, SOCOM, or Resistance online anymore.

Post by: chronovore on May 09, 2014, 09:46:28 PM
Yeah, but that's not what this is.  It's not you like get it free with PS Plus.  You get a gimped version, with the full unlock selling for $50, but if you lose your PS Plus sub, you can't play it online or offline.  That's stupid and unprecedented.

It's the same as with Xbox Live Gold though, as you can't play online if you don't have the sub, but you can still play single-player...

Wh... Wha... What, wait, huh? You fucking lose access to your game if you don't also pay for PS Plus. :lol

LAGER, ESSSSPLAIN YOU'SELF.

yeah.  same with Horizon 2.  I think only the "sim" racers try to hit 60 (although gran turismo never managed to be stable on ps3?).

the weather effects in driveclub look really nice.  mostly impressive for artistic reasons, like why the PGR games always looked so good.

Yep, poor performance (framerate drops and tearing) in Gran Turismo was one of the reasons I didn't pick up GT6. I hope they manage to fix it for GT7 for PS4.
