What pick do the lions have in the first round? And who do you think they should pick up PD?
I don't think they'd trade Cousins due to the liability that is RG3.
@Bischoff_Scott
Lions talking to Houston about the compensation required to come to No. 1 for Clowney. If what I heard is right it is too much in my opinion
did they trade again???
Lions should be calling the Cowboys trying to trade down.

This is news, right?Man...I thought he was going to be a damn good QB. He was for his rookie year, and a couple years afterward. But years of not studying the playbook and not being a leader ended his career.

Oh boy... RT @MAndersonWKYC: Confirmed Browns WR Josh Gordon Arrested By Raleigh, NC Police. Jail Has Booked & Processed Him.
It's embarrassing to see the NFL and ESPN slobber over J Manziel so much with the perennial 8-8 Cowboys coming in a close second. :-X
Brian Hoyer opens scrimmage 4-5 w/ 2 long completions to Miles Austin. Johnny Manziel: sack, penalty, incompletion, 5-yd scramble.:lol

flabby and sick in your early 30's breh. I really don't want car to start this year, fuck
So far we've got 5 teams, still waiting on people to renew their teams, including Gundam, Wrath, etc.

I've got the first pick in 30 minutes. I have Percy Harvin as a keeper.
Peyton Manning or a RB?

Manning. It's easy to stack up on RBs later. Broncos have a better offense this year than last year.

Does anyone know if the yahoo fantasy league has a way to look at bye weeks? I feel like they used to have it listed somewhere but I can't seem to find it now, it's a pain in the ass to have to look at a separate tab and the go back. GIVE ME CONVENIENCE, YOU ASSHOLES.
I'm not sure Carlos Hyde is a good fit for that offense. They almost need a Reggie Bush-like threat instead. But they drafted Hyde, so they will feel compelled to play him.

Yeah pick "opponent" under stats and it will show it
Omg.
My other league has it set so the person in last place basically gets unlimited waivers before the next person and so on down the line. That's fucked up.

Exactly the fuss I'm raising right now. Especially since in our league dropped players go on NEXT WEEKS WAIVER. Last place could fuck the entire league with add drops.
Got the commish to say he'd "fix it" :rejoice
Hopefully he CAN fix it, sometimes there's some things you can't change after the season starts depending on which provider (yahoo, etc) you're using.

Yeah I'm not sure how he's gonna handle it anyway, how do you fairly reverse people getting 3 picks in a row? Now everyone knows who they're after. It's yahoo btw.
Edit the configurations you chose during registration. Some settings can only be changed pre-draft (Max Teams, Unowned Players and Waiver Rules), some before your first league game (Scoring Type, League Start Date), with the rest available all season long.

Exactly. Why can't these guys just be Derek Jeter: smash everyone, never have kids, never marry, eat at fine restaurants, become a god in your city, and receive awards you don't deserve.
Who wouldn't want to be Derek Jeter? A fucking distinguished mentally-challenged fellow, that's who.
fuck derek jeter
Why do we have to hold up football players to be some kind of moral totem poles? Why can't they just be dudes that are entertainers? It's because culturally we put this overinflated importance on sports and money. So, if you are rich and/or can play sports, you now also have to have the same piety reserved for priests and politicians.
When I watch a juggler at a Cirque show, I don't question if he has 5 DUI's or might have 3 domestic abuse cases against him. I just enjoy his performance and move on with my life once the show is over.

Because our GM thinks that offense is the only side of the ball. I'm not kidding, either. Past time to fire that dude.He also looks like a pussy, at least from what I saw on Hard Knocks.

Not gonna get any argument out of me on that score.
Of course, that means that the Steelers just lost to... the worst team in the worst division in football.

The Lions have a good chance of being 5-1 going into week 7 against the Saints (who look horrible right now). At home against Buffalo shouldn't be hard. I can't wait to blow Schwartz's smug ass out the water.
Minnesota isn't as bad as I assumed they'd be but I also expect a win. And with the way the Saints are playing on the road I think we can beat them, going 6-1. Of course this is the Lions so I know we'll lose at least one game we're supposed to win. Still, I'm very impressed by this coaching staff. The defense is good despite the injuries....we just need the offense to catch on.
Dunno how the Atlanta game will go in London. We'll see. I'm expecting a shootout.

He skipped the locker room yesterday due to the report that came out that day about him wanting to bolt. Outside of that he has been a good teammate.
I'll be glad to see him go. You can't pay a DE the type of money he wants and win football games, especially when you're already paying Stafford and Megatron obscene amounts of money. Once Suh leaves we'll have space to sign 2-3 good starters.
Last three Prime Time games have been horrible.

That and the money. As long as football is a way out of the hood, kids will be playing it. Suburban kids might be steered to soccer but best believe Iowa will continue to produce linemen, the south will continue to produce RBs, etc.
Rich Gannon went off on the management of the Raiders, which is pretty much something that someone should had done years ago
He can still be a saint and senile/not very good at putting together modern football teams, just saying.

Sounds like he was unqualified to be NFL commissioner, for sure.
"Get a lot of penalties. Run really fast. It's okay if you have a criminal record, so do half our fans."
Look, the guy helped me out and most of the guys I played with. He'd always listen to young kids trying to figure out how to become a man and actually usually had great advice..."always save money kid, always, and go back and get your degree. Lastly be a good family man, for a man is valued by how he treats his family"

Still no official word on Lion's new kicker, think I'll waiver Prater anyway, they'd be crazy not to sign him unless he's too expensive, and I'll still probably be able to grab Feely or whoever if they go that route.
@Edwerderespn: Matt Prater has to outperform Jay Feely to be Lions PK. Feely finished with FG from 58, 60, 60 and 61.

Toxic Adam either back up my Brown's staning or fuck off and pick a new team, cunt.
The Browns have a nice schedule coming up (Titans, Steelers (@ home), Jags, Raiders and the Bucs.
Which sets it up nicely for them to go 4-1 or 3-2 into a Thursday night game against the Bengals. Everyone will be buzzing about the game (locally) as a pivotal moment in the season and they will get thoroughly trounced and embarrassed. Meltdowns, injuries and finger pointing. It will all happen and the season will quickly unravel.
It's destiny.

Yeah I'm kinda with you on the Denver v. Green Bay super bowl prediction, PD. Seems to be the only two teams looking impressive consistently right now. Cardinals as a possible candidate as well?
There's no fucking way I trust a team in the NFC East to do anything special in the playoffs.
I just need Antonio Brown to score no more than 5 pt under his team mate Le'Veon Bell. Should be interesting for me to watch lol. Hope the Texans dominate so Steelers throw or don't do much at all :lol
You're fucked.
4-3 in mine as well, Jimmy Graham faked me out this week. Gio needs RG3 back. The rest of my schedule lookin pretty good though, I too should make play offs, top 6 go.
I meant to say AJ Green, Giovanni Bernard just needs his offense to have more downs. But yeah RG3 being out has sucked too
I don't think there is any way to salvage this fantasy team of mine.

Once you start getting hurt without being hit, it's time to hang up the cleats.
Once you start getting hurt without being hit, it's time to hang up the cleats.
Not really. McGahee did it against Ohio state and came back and had a pretty good career.
I was done when I blew out my MCL/ACL in practice. Back then that was a death blow.

Sorry bro. That's the one injury I wish could be avoided/prevented in sports. Did you get rolled up on or was it a low block?
:( How long did it take for you to get comfortable running again? I realize this was a long time ago and things were a lot different in medicine.
It's not that RG3 is made of glass, it's that he's a fucking dumbass. He's still diving for first downs head first, refusing to slide correctly, doesn't get out of bounds effectively, won't throw the ball away...he's a dumbass and probably ended his NFL career.
He also doesn't put the work in, film wise. He's a diva who thought he'd just coast to success. It worked a bit initially but the league quickly figured that shit out.
Being injured this long, he has had plenty of time to look at the playbook, watch film, etc. And after seeing Cousins start it's clear he's not the guy so short term job security is no longer an issue. RG3 really has no excuse now. Yea it'll take a couple games for him to get back up to speed or whatever, but after that?
I hate seeing a black QB go out like this but he did it to himself. At least with Geno Smith you know he's simply not NFL talent, but RG3 seemed to have it all. Arm, mobile, pocket passing, seemed smart, etc. Dude was on the verge of being a superstar. But now Russell Wilson, Andrew Luck, etc have clearly surpassed him by a mile.
I got a tough one guys
McCoy V Arizona
Bradshaw V Pittsburgh
Oliver V Denver
Hillman V San Diego

He was too obsessed with the fame and the name and forgot about the game. That rhyme describes many players over the years: The Boz, David Boston, Haynesworth, soon to be Clowney.....etc etc.
At the Pro level unless you have superior natural talent (Megatron) or a freaky intellect (Manning) you are doomed if you don't put that work in.
Edit: I'll give you Wilson but RG3 was never considered to be a better player than Luck.
Yeah, I've basicaly been planning on waking up at the ass crack of dawn and seeing Megatron's status to make the decision, but I may just go Tannehill. My concern would be if Miami slams Jax too hard Tannehill's fantasy day might be kinda mild, though he's shown he can run too. :mysteryghost

Man this was an insane week for QBs. Started on Thursday with Manning all the way to Brees late last night. I have Brady in the Bore league...but I have Russell Wilson in the GAF league. Quite a meh performance from him. He's had some big games this season though so I'm not thinking too much about finding something else.
I just traded Quick away this week, now he's injured :sabu

Out for the season, wow I fucked that guy over with that trade. Kinda feel bad
When Jadeveon Clowney emerged from South Carolina, the red flags were flying. And the Texans ignored them. Maybe they wish they hadn’t.
Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the Texans are getting “frustrated” with Clowney, who may miss Sunday’s game with an illness. Rapoport adds that the Texans want Clowney to “grow up” and be “more mature.”
hey fuck you buddy
Russell Wilson doesn't care about my fantasy football needs

Tom Brady the GOAT
Big Ben, y'all.
That Browns loss is what we needed. Also, Browns are better that most AFC teams. That division is rough.
You can't win games in December without a running game and bad special teams.
It's going to hurt when Sammy Watkins lights up the Browns for 150+ yards when they play the Bills. I still don't get the Gilbert draft pick.
CB is one of the hardest positions to play in the NFL, almost no one plays well as a rookie CB. I wanted Gilbert in the draft (or Kyle Fuller, who was playing well in Chicago before the injury). He has the side and speed to be good.

Trust me, I know.
Revis and Haden both struggled until about halfway through their first season. Gilbert seems to be improving.

Yup and those are exceptions. Last year Darius Slay looked horrible as a rookie CB for the Lions and was benched multiple times. During the offseason he worked with Rod Woodson, going over tape and technique, and so far has looked significantly better.
Charles Woodson is one of the best defensive players in NCAA football history. Dude was a beast. And of course has been amazing in the NFL. Sometimes people who are inhuman in college end up being a bust in the NFL (see: Braylon Edwards) but Woodson was always the real deal.
I'm glad he's not in the NFC North anymore :tocry
Minnesota Vikings star Adrian Peterson avoided jail time Tuesday in a plea agreement reached with prosecutors to resolve his child abuse case.
Under the agreement approved by Montgomery County state District Judge Kelly Case and announced during a scheduled court hearing, Peterson pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor charge of reckless assault.
Case deferred a finding of guilt for two years while imposing a $4,000 fine and 80 hours of community service on Peterson.
Thanks for spoiling my waiver claim, dick hole :teehee
Imma grab him in any league I can, honestly. If I just stash him for a couple weeks to get news, whatever I got roster room.
He's still bein paid, might as well get played :yeshrug
Very well might not be, but I still say it's worth grabbing him tonight, they'll probably make an announcement later this week.
Edit: I mean, you likely know better than I, but my understanding is further punishment won't really be justifiable under the current CBA without a conviction
There was a $100M qb on the field last night? :teehee
Browns couldn't take an L for the Stills? :hitler
:lol It makes your team look worse when you say the team that whooped you isn't that good.
Did you end up getting AW yet?
QBs getting paid elite money shouldn't play like that, period. Same problem I have with Matt Stafford.
I wonder if the Browns can trade JFF for a second round pick...

He's not wrong though. The Browns are a below average team (at the skill positions) that is creating a lot of turnovers and capitalizing on them. A weak schedule has helped, too.
Not that it's something to be ashamed of, there is always one team like that every year.
The only way you judge a team is by their record. 6-3 tells me they have some skill somewhere.
The only way you judge a team is by their record. 6-3 tells me they have some skill somewhere.
This is some 1988 sports analysis here.
Johnny fuckin football being there elevates the whole team. The best players make everyone around them better.
Records can be deceptive. The Lions are 6-2 and I wouldn't call them a particularly good team, even though the defense is allegedly the best in the league. This team's entire life depends on the d-line getting pressure on opposing QBs. When we don't get that, our weak secondary is easy to exploit. Our offense is bad, although part of that has to do with so many weapons being injured during the first half of the season. We'll get everyone back this weekend but I'm not sold on Matt Stafford making this offense look good, even with Megatron.
The Browns have a great o-line and overall have a good defense. They got through a pretty tough first half 6-3. This next half looks a lot easier. The Colts will destroy them in a couple weeks and they'll look to the Ravens on the road to end the season, but outside of that I don't see any sure-fire losses on the schedule. Atlanta? Buffalo? meh.

Well my math might be rusty but that would make them a decent team then, yes? Not a collection of bozos that toxic adam is saying they are. I mean Cleveland fans are the worst sometimes.
Avatar bet?
You give me Browns and 8 against the Colts?
Naturally the Bears shit the bed when I want them to win. Fuck the Packers are on a roll. The rest of their schedule is pretty easy with lots of home games. The division could come down to the last game of the season when we face them on the road. I'm not confident at all. Yea we beat the Packers pretty handily this year but they're healthier and better now.
Next weekend's game is huge. At Arizona, huge playoff implications. If we're gonna make the playoffs without winning the division, we have to win this game.

Yea, although that defense won't be effected. I'm surprised their secondary is ranked so low statistically; they have two really good DBs. Peterson has the tools to hang with Megatron, although Megatron tends to get the best of him.
Drew Stanton can start in the NFL imo. Used to be a Lion (and before that MSU of course), he's not bad. Dude came into the game yesterday and immediately got Arizona the lead.
To win in my money league, I just need Kelvin Benjamin to not have the best night of his rookie career / get the third most fantasy points for receivers this week.
My FF opponent is starting Sanchez. :heh
Hoping for buttfumble 2.0
:heh
I'll never be scared of dirty sanchez.
yea...at this point underestimating Chip Kelly isn't a good idea.
:heh

You watch tonight. It isn't Sanchez, it's the offense.
Seems like Cam has hit a wall. I only got to see him against the Lions, and he didn't look bad but he took stupid sacks and whiffed some passes. But since then he has looked turrible as Charles would say.I mean, he's injured. I guess that counts as a wall.

I have Romo who is on bye (but who has been surprisingly solid for me all season.
Alex Smith who is facing the Seahawks (and never seems to put up that great of numbers).
And Sanchez after picking him up off the wire last week. And they are in Green Bay.
Right now I have Sanchez starting... not sure if I should stick with that.
I'm 7-3 in my league. Hoping to go 10 - 3. I think I'll be fine if I can squeak by this week... Since Josh Gordon gets a starting spot next week!
I'd be scouring that waiver wire bro, I don't see any potential for either of them to surpass 15 points against their opponents.I'm in a 14 Team league dude... there's NUTHIN!
Philly is playing GB right? Sanchez should be able to score on that secondary. However I do think the Sanchez was bailed out by a weak Panthers d; he threw some very high darts that would have been picked off by better DBs.Definitely agree that Carolina's D is junk and that's why Sanchez had so much success... He's projected at like 15. I'd be fine with that.

Go with Sanchez
Is Flacco available? I've snagged him in two leagues when my starter QBs were on bye. He had a huge game in the first league, average in the other one.

Available Starting Qs in my league...
Josh McCown, TB@Wsh
Shaun Hill, StLvDen
Drew Stanton, ArivDet
Ryan Mallett, Hou@Cle
I could pick up McCown I guess. Not sure if that would be any better than what I've got though.
Mallett has a tough row to hoe although our ballhawk (Gibson) is out this week with a concussion. Our? Are you a Texans fan?
Stanton is ugly but he winsFunny thing is with Fitz, Floyd and Brown... I think he has the best weapons. Just a matter of whether he can get them the ball... but this week ... against the Lions... yeah not going there.
Shaun Hill nopeAaaaaaagreed!
McCown has great weapons to throw to and washington's defense is garbage.Yeah I'm ditching Smith for McCown. Not sure if I'll start him... I'll think it over.
I like Stanton but he'll struggle against the Lions. We'll shut down the Cards run game so he'll have to beat us in the air. And his wife just had a baby so he'll be tired as fuck.Lions fan? Nice input there with the baby. :lol
McCown...can't trust em imo. Washington is trash but I'd feel like shit if I started a low tier QB and go a low tier performance.I agree... but he did put up 22 in my league against the Falcons last week... of course that was at home. This game is in DC.
Mallett...really don't know what to think. With ya bro.
Sanchize time breh.Thinking so. I'll decided between him and McCown.
Nice! Loving watching them these days! I hope they win the division!
That game against Cincy was awesome!
hahahahaa...
Accepted...

Starting next week until week 16 I can get pissed at Hoyer for NOT throwing to Josh Gordon!

Just sayin'.
The only thing that will hold Gordon back when he returns is hoyers' inability to put a lot of power on the deep ball.I will not doubt Gordon ever again.

I got him last year via auto draft b/c my connection went down. I was disappointed about it at first b/c he was out for 2 games.
Comes in week 3 and drops 30+ (PPR league). I didn't play him.
He consistently put up points REGARDLESS of who was at Q during the revolving door year last year.
Hoyer is definitely better than Jason Campbell. I'm sure they will figure out some way to work it.
Campbell has a much better deep arm than Hoyer. I ain't worried about Gordon bro, he's gonna eat.True, Campbell had a better deep arm for sure, but Hoyer is a more consistent passer.
Yup Lions fan here. I'm not as confident as most fans about the game (Arizona is always a tough place to play at) but Megatron is finally healthy, we get our TEs back, and the Cards won't have a run game against us.
I'm concerned about those DBs though, Peterson and the Honey Badger (who I wanted us to draft btw). Stafford can't just chuck up bullshit throws against those guys.
Gordon :rejoiceDammit! I'm sorry Pineapple... the site won't let me "like" this more than once. ;)

I have Megatron and Tate in one league, just Megatron in another. I luckily survived while he was out, I'm still in the playoff hunt.
my RB depth is trash
As I mentioned, I'm 7-3 and definitely in the playoff hunt.
last week I lost though... and it was demoralizing.
My opponent...
Had Andy Dalton.
Who put up -3!
And I lost.
I picked up Martavis Bryant off the wire and the question was ... do I play him, or Percy who had a great week the week before.
Percy put up 9.
Bryant put up 24.
Yeah... I lost by 6. :-\
my RB situation in the Bore league :kobeyuck
I have Andre Ellington, only starting him against the Lions because I rarely sit 2nd round picks, and I don't have a better option. My second starter right now is Matt Asiata, who had a huge game for Minnesota a couple weeks ago (27.70 points). Bench: Bishop Sankey (Titans), Rashad Jennings (Giants). I dropped Reggie Bush.
my WRs in this league on the other hand
Megatron
Emmanuel Sanders
Odell Beckham Jr

Percy Harvin and Eddie Royal on the bench. (and Kendell Wright) :whew
Bryant is gold. Play him.Oh yeah... he's in this week.
my RB situation in the Bore league :kobeyuckNot too bad. My situation is not horrible, but not great. Started the season with Forte and Jennings. Jennings went out and I had to find some help.

Stick with Asiata....jennings won't be 100% this week and I just don't trust Sankey.Asiata is tough b/c he only gets touches at the goal line.
Not sure if I should start Ty Hilton or Roddy White....Pats corners looking good, and White is facing the Panthers...

"Do I think I'll be gone after this season? I don't know, man. The Seahawks, their front office gets in the media; they talk a lot. I don't talk too much. I just play the game," he told the website.
"If they have something going on, I don't know about it."
Asked about reported friction between himself and coach Pete Carroll and an NFL Network report that Lynch "does not communicate" with the coach, the player said: "Pete's my head coach. Well, I mean, you know, he's really not in my position meetings. ... It ain't like we get to chop it up like that."
If they let go of Lynch it's out of pure hubris. I wouldn't be surprised to see Wussell take less in his new deal so Lynch could stay.
:lol
I really believe this is all about justifying their lowball position when it's time to negotiate with Russell Wilson. Take away all his weapons and then say "man...your production really fell off, why should we pay you more than you're worth?"

As somebody in the GAF thread pointed out, AP would be in jail right now if he did this to another human who wasn't his child. Heck, he'd probably be in jail for doing that to a dog. But suddenly when it's his child, certain people don't think it's right to judge his "parenting techniques."
I'm not opposed to spanking, I was spanked blah blah blah. However what Peterson did wasn't just spanking: he beat his child until he left marks, terrorized him, put leaves in his mouth, literally injured the kid's scrotum....nah. How do you rip your kid's balls unless you're whipping the shit out of your son wantonly?

Cam Newton will have 7th different o line in 7 games. His WRs: Rookie, 11-year vet, undrafted rookie, 1-year, converted QB, 1-year
The full rg3 quote in context sounds a lot less like him throwing folks under the bus; he says he knows his teammates expect the same from him that he expects from them. However it still sounds a bit off, and more importantly why are you even talking to the media at this point? They want to find tension, don't let them.
I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't study much because lord knows he panics all the time at new looks or defenses. His o line is bad but still...dude takes so many bad sacks. Even indestructible Cam Newton is getting beat up, how the fuck does rg3 expect to take those hits and survive? Later rid of the ball...
Lol that was ridiculous. I guess “Camnewton1″ was a bad “password” choice?! Thanks again @twitter#backfromthehack

A basic eye test would tell you Oakland is better than that infamous Lions team on nearly every level. Decent d line including a future pro bowler in Mack, decent RB, rookie QB who doesn't look like straight ass, etc.
Information on the Bills Website instructs ticket holders to call 1-877-228-4357.
But that's actually the phone number for a domestic violence crisis center in Ohio, which has been receiving a barrage of calls from Bills fans.
The center is asking people to stop calling the number because it needs to keep its lines open for people who need their services.
The post went up around 7 p.m. yesterday, and had been uncorrected as of an hour ago, so the wrong number was up for nearly 16 hours.

Also, Johnny Football sighting confirmed. He has a MUCH better arm that I expected...it's at least ++ compared to Hoyers.

Backups almost always look better because they are fresh (haven't been smacked around for 10+ games), have little pressure to perform and the other team hasn't gameplanned for them.
I think that's why Hoyer is struggling a bit. He's been getting banged around and teams are starting to take away what made him successful. He presses and then throws picks.
The Browns were destined to lose this game because everything they do is based off the play action. But play action only works when the defense has to respect the run. The Bills have a top notch run defense. The fact that Joe Thomas got flagged for holding three times tells you how good that front four are.
Just need Tannehill to break 19.16 in a standard league to get a #2 seed and a bye week. It's going to be a stressful evening.

can we really pass on mariota and trade the pick away? carr isn't a bad qb, but mariota da god seems like one of those once in a generation type qb's.
Leonard Williams would make sense at #1 for Oakland. Him and Mack on the d-line could be insane. I could see the Giants wanting to trade up to get Mariota; Manning has to be done.
I'd keep Carr, he doesn't look terrible but is fucked by not having much talent around him. Maybe trade down and get Amari Cooper. How is Oakland's o-line though?
"Johnny Manziel can do things/get things done with his legs."Gah... Manziel makes me miss Tebow. At least he was humble.

This is what it's like living in a post-Tebow America.
He had to be humble because he was awful. He wasn't awful... he just couldn't throw.
Fuck the Bears but I wanted them to win tonight, helps the Lions. God they're trash. How do you not at least have a good offense with Marshall/Jefferys/Bennett/Forte?!
Man, Forte is letting me down, he better get some garbage time actionI was thinking the same thing. Luckily he did get me some points near the end.

What's up with all these stories of players sleeping with other player's wives? Have some respect.
Looks like Wilson might be the only read option phenon who is still a starting QB in a couple years. Kaep probably won't be much better, he's clearly not a student of the game. Same with RG3. I think Cam is more of a natural pocket passer, he just needs help.
My team shat the bed this week, but I locked up a playoff berth last week, so

Carr completed 9 of 10 passes for 98 yards and three touchdowns on third down last week. He said he moved his eyes at Fresno State as well, but the game is much bigger and faster at this level.
“It’s on steroids obviously in the NFL,” Carr said.

Seattle are going to make the Superbowl again
I'd like to chalk it up to being young and nervous (and a porous front line), but Johnny Football isnt going to last long in the NFL throwing every ball off his back foot.
I've seen young and nervous, it wasn't that. He is not an NFL QB. It was obvious he didn't know the gameplan well, even though apparently it was tailored to him (I read the offense was different from what Hoyer is given). His throwing mechanics are horrible, his footwork is BAD, he locked onto one target, etc.
And the funny thing is that all it took was him bullshitting to GMs in interviews and a few workouts to convince draft folks that he was a first round talent. He is a fourth round talent at best.
So, I need 36 points between Forte and Mark Ingram tonight in order to pull it out in the first round of the playoffs. Would have helped if Jordan Matthews had gotten ANY FUCKING POINTS FOR ME last night. That's what I get for relying on someone that Mark Sanchez is throwing to.
(Rodgers shitting the bed didn't help either)

Big question: draft a QB or trade a late round pick for RG3?

Cutler gonna go to the Titans
I'm not sure anyone would be good behind that shitty o-line though. But ultimately Cutler is trash and calls the wrong plays. I still think he's better than Stafford though. Give him a good o-line and he can make all the throws with accuracy, whereas Stafford is going to overthrow folks on a variety of plays.

It amazes me how mentally weak he was. Not in terms of intellect but more in terms of giving way to much shit about what people thought of him. I would have never seen that coming.
Seems like a good guy now though.
I did, it was pretty good. I liked it a lot and I love stories about misfits in sports. I kinda feel bad for him but man did he seriously fuck up his career with dumb shit.
Just heard the news about Alex Smith being injured and realized that I have no idea what Alex Smith looks like. He's been in the league for 9 years and I couldn't pick him out of a lineup of white dudes if my life depended on it.

Nevermind, looks like Lions are probably gonna play Carolina. Arizona will be the 6th seed because of their worse conference record, unless I'm reading this wrong.
Johnny Manziel threw a party Friday night that was attended by multiple members of the Cleveland Browns, triggering a tumultuous weekend during which several players were punished by the team, according to multiple reports.
Receiver Josh Gordon, who was suspended Saturday for a violation of team rules, was one of the players in attendance, according to cleveland.com.
The Browns also fined Manziel on Saturday for being late for treatment on his injured hamstring, a source told ESPN.

wtf. It was 14-13 like three minutes ago
I wouldn't bet against Rapelesburger in the 4th quarter though
shut up :'(
The Lions are on the brink of rebuilding. The defense is good and while we got gashed today I can't really blame it on them - what do you expect is going to happen when Rodgers constantly gets a short field due to bad special teams coverage. Special teams gave up one TD also, which was basically the difference.
But this team clearly isn't going to win anything of worth with Stafford at QB. Going into the game he had fewer TDs this season than Russell Wilson, who is playing in a run first offense with nobody of note to throw the ball to. We have spent years surrounding him with "weapons," brought in the "Saints offense" and multiple coaches aimed at helping him...and this is the result. Sure he has thrown fewer INTs but that's probably a result of this offensive scheme really putting a leash on him. It's a very vanilla, safe offense. He's not being paid elite money to be a fucking game manager. I'm tired of it.
Grats ahead of time Dallas fans. Romo will rip our secondary apart since you guys have a good o-line, meaning we won't get pressure.
This sucks :brazilcry

Your team should never have to be in a position where you blame the refs for your loss. Sucks, but it's true.
One of the most blatant con jobs I've seen. The Lions fucked up on offense in the second half sure. But there's no excuse for picking up a flag and not giving an explanation. Not to mention Dez fucking Bryant CLEARLY sideline interfering and not being flagged. Or Megatron being held during that final drive. Fuck that.raidah fans know that feel breh

Super Bowl XL breh?
:heh
I'm still mad but like I said, the offense didn't show up in the second half. One more score and we win that game.
Off season:
-Fire Lombardi. I've seen enough of his offense. Caldwell hit the lottery with Taryl Austin, who had never been an NFL coordinator before...but Lombardi has been a bust. I'd take Trestman over him, fuck it.
-Let Suh walk. He played like a man possessed today, he deserves to be paid big bucks...but we simply cannot afford him. Even franchising him would cripple our ability to fix this team's weaknesses - namely the secondary and o-line.
-Re-sign Fairley. He played well when he was healthy, his weight issue seems to be resolved, and more importantly he showed maturity. His injury could allow us to offer a cheaper deal than we might have if he was healthy.
-Fix the o-line. Injuries decimated us and we need some more depth. Cut Raiola, cut Sims. Whether through the draft or FA we need an upgrade at guard.
-Cut Bush. I've seen enough. Yes the o-line is done, but he doesn't seem to "get" that he's not 25 anymore. The endless cutting and stutter steps result in more 0-2yd gains than anything. Riddick is a better receiver and hopefully can improve as a runner, with a better o-line. I'd also draft an RB within the first four rounds.
-Address the secondary. Slay is developing well, and Mathis had a really good year...but he will be 35 next year. It's time to replace him. We've drafted many CBs over the last few years, it seems like only Slay is worth anything...I'd rather target one in FA than draft another.
Your team should never have to be in a position where you blame the refs for your loss. Sucks, but it's true.
Honestly if we could get Nick Foles I'd take him. Dude can at least make simple throws consistently and we have better receivers/TEs than Philly; after fixing the o-line he'd be poised for a big year. Unfortunately it's not going to happen due to Stafford's contract.
Nah, Manziel's gonna come back with a 4000 yard sophomore season.
Real talk: how much does the rape thing hurt Jameis' draft stock?
This isn't like Kobe where he might've raped the girl, but probably didn't, or even like Big Ben, where it looks kind of shady, but he might not have done it. Everything about the case makes him look like a bona-fide rapist.
You're fucking batty if you think he doesn't get picked in the first five picks. I foresee the Titans drafting him.
Still think he's better than Mariotta though, pro wise.
Basically Mariotta won't be in the league in 4 years if he's not drafted by Philly.

I think 6 sounds perfect, personally.
Agreed, although I do think 4 is fine. Top two teams would get a bye in a 6 team system, sounds good. A potential problem with 6 is that you could have multiple teams from one conference a lot easier than the current system, where winning a major conference pretty much gets you in.

If the Pats win the SB, I'll concede Brady being the GOAT, at least for this era.
It's still a team game. 'Clutch' and 'leadership' remarkably only works as good as the players and coaches around you.
Drew Brees' leadership didn't help rescue his season this year.
Championships and titles are a product of persistent franchise excellence. Not mystical forces that some people possess.

Matt Millen played football and he has shitty opinions too. Take your appeal to authority bullshit and shove it up your ass.
I guess it was Brady's amazing leadership that inspired the Pats defense to hold one of the most explosive offenses to 17 points. I suppose it was Eli Mannings amazing leadership that led the Giants to two titles. Pffft.
So keep churning out anecdotals to justify why you believe in voodoo.
"Some of the guys seemed more than normally tense," Montana recalled, "especially Harris Barton, a great offensive tackle who has a tendency to get nervous." As usual, Montana was just focusing on the situation, how far they had to go and how much time was left. Just then he happened to spot the late actor John Candy in the stands. "Look" he said, 'isn't that John Candy." It was hardly what his teammates expected to hear in the huddle with the Super Bowl on the line. But it definitely broke the tension. "Everybody kind of smiled, and even Harris relaxed, and then we all concentrated on the job we had to do." - See more at: http://www.profootballhof.com/hof/release.aspx?RELEASE_ID=721#sthash.3uKGZOz0.dpuf
Meh. I'd bet money a First Take producer suggested he say that. ESPN's standard operating procedure is to trot out retired players to make names for themselves by saying outrageous shit. Ray is on record as saying Brady is one of the greatest players he's ever faced, he respects him, etc...so suddenly he retires and changes his mind? Nah...
The entire point of First Take is to generate fake buzz with outrageous, hyperbolic comments. Just a few days ago Skip said Cardale Jones is already a better QB than Cam Newton. How can any serious sports fan watch that shit?
If he's in the second round, Cleveland should take him. Just for the fuckery of it all
Dunno if he's better but he has NFL talent and measurements, which JFF does not have.
The starting job is probably his to lose, but at the same time...Barrett is a better QB, and more mature. Jones is a guy who plays around a lot...there's no telling how he'd handle himself during a winter/spring/summer of being The Man. Will he work as hard as I know Barrett will work? I'm biased because he's my cousin but still...dude works hard and will be gunning for his spot back.
Jones should go pro. If he loses the starter job next year his draft stock would drop significantly.
Jones looks a little slow for the NFL right now. He won't get 5 and 6 second reads there. He is massive, can take NFL hits, and will be hard to bring down so that's a plus. He will be in the NFL I'm sure, but I'm not sold on him needing to declare this year.

Great idea. Every year there are so many vets signed who seem like "camp bodies" but they turn into good starters or reserve players. The Lions d-line was full of guys like that in 2014. George Johnson went from team to team until landing with the Lions and turning out to be a pretty good DE.
He reminds me more of Byron Leftwich. Who could have had a great NFL career if it wasn't derailed by constant injuries.

This is such a non story, and I'm the first one to pile on the Patriots. I guarantee that most teams do this – its just that New England is under that much more scrutiny.
Again, who cares
It's still silly though. Any perceived advantage the Patriots got, the Colts got too.
A 1st rounder is a pretty high price to pay.
Brady is the best playoff QB in the league, and they were against an overmatched opponent.

She was the only person who refused any sort of conciliatory handshake/hug after the game. Her adult children were embarrassed...
Addressing a swarm of reporters, Belichick addressed the controversy with a prepared statement:
"When I came in Monday morning, I was shocked to learn of the news reports about the footballs. I had no knowledge whatsoever of this situation until Monday morning.
"Tom's personal preferences on his footballs are something that he can talk about in much better detail and information than I could possibly provide."

That's the stupidest play I've ever heard.
I'd been saying for a week the game would end with Lynch running in a TD and grabbing his junk. I was ready to grab mine...
:-(
Probably the biggest example of overthinking something in sports, ever. Before lining up the Patriots and everyone in the stadium figured Lynch would run the ball. That's not a good excuse to do something unexpected or try to catch the Patriots off guard. You're on the one yard line. It's not like you're at the 10 yard line with Calvin Johnson or Dez Bryant out wide - passing elsewhere would make sense since Johnson/Bryant/elite WRs would be double teamed. Lynch got positive yardage every time he touched the damn ball. Give him the ball lol. Even if he got stuffed you have one timeout left...i mean everyone knew what they were going to do, and lynch thus far had no significant problems churning through the defense. why.gif
:mindblown
How many times have you guys seen a team score a TD on a passing play on 2nd and goal? Hundreds of times, right?
You're outraged about the call because it was intercepted, but coaches call passing plays in that scenario all the time.
I don't even mind the pass play. But at LEAST do a play action with Wilson bootlegging off of it. That way he can chuck it out of bounds or try to run it in if it's covered.
What if they call three running plays in a row, and the Pats stuff them with a valiant goal line stand? That would have been a perfectly reasonable possibility, since the Pats had stopped Lynch for no gain several times in the game already.:beli
Hell, what if they ran one running play and Lynch fumbled?

LATER: life is meaningless and full of pain.
And that was beyond a doubt the worst play call in the history of the superbowl.

"Johnny knows there are areas in which he needs to improve in order to be a better family member, friend and teammate, and he thought the offseason was the right time to take this step," Beckworth said.
The quarterback is voluntarily entering treatment as a direct result of his lifestyle away from the field, and he informed people in his circle last week that he wants to "figure out his value system," a source said.

We didn't have enough time and enough time outs for three Beast runs, but I agree with the sentiment.
THE HEAVENS—Following the game-ending interception against the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XLIX, God Almighty, Creator and Supreme Ruler of the Universe, confirmed Monday that He “can’t fucking stand Russell Wilson” and that the Seattle Seahawks star quarterback “can go fuck himself.” “I hate Russell Wilson, so fuck him, and fuck the Seahawks,” said the Heavenly Father, adding that Jermaine Kearse’s incredible catch on Seattle’s final drive was indeed a case of divine intervention, but only so Wilson could then throw an interception that cost his team the Super Bowl. “I mean, the look on his face right after I made him throw that pick on the goal line was just priceless. He’s so fucking annoying, so I wanted to get his hopes up and then crush him in front of the whole world. Self-righteous little prick.” Despite subsequently allowing the Patriots to win their fourth Super Bowl title, God also clarified that Tom Brady, Bill Belichick, and Robert Kraft are all “dirty fucking cheats” who will spend an eternity in Hell after they die.

Hold on, that still doesn't make sense. I get that they wanted to do a pass play first, and while I disagree I'll allow it. So why the hell would they run a pick play against a goal line defense, which is a recipe for disaster? Worse yet they ran an illegal one, the refs just didn't throw a flag; if they had called it that's a 10yd penalty and loss of a down.
If you're going to take a shot in the endzone to waste some time, you call a fade route. Safest endzone play - either your guys catches it or no one does. Throwing it into the defense like that was foolish. I wouldn't even want a QB with a stronger arm than Russell (Stafford, Luck, etc) to do that. They could throw a bullet into that coverage window perfectly...but there would still be too much risk (for instance what if the defender knocked the ball into the air).
I would have just run the ball, scored, and trusted my defense to stop Brady. He didn't hit too many deep passes...

No matter how long this discussion goes on, the thing that actually happened failed, the proposed 'run' everyone goes on about only had a chance to succeed, but since it never happened it never failed- so there is no reason for anyone arguing for 'run it' to concede on any point. We argue the 'run it' approach like it had 100% chance to succeed- but if it failed patriot fans would run around saying they stopped beast mode and seahawk fans would run around going OH NOES DID TEH BEAST MODE LOSE ITS MAGIC?!
If anything criticism should be placed on going into the 4th 10 ahead and putting themselves in a position where they had to make that play at all.

I don't think it had a 100% chance to succeed, but it had a higher chance to succeed - and more importantly: a lower chance of turning the ball over - than letting a small QB throw into the middle of a stacked goal line defense. Lynch only lost two fumbles the entire year, and neither happened on a run play. They were on the one yard line with the best power runner in the league. Who almost scored a TD on the previous play. Against a defense that had just been shocked by a demoralizing miracle catch to Kearse.
It really comes down to risk and overthinking IMO. When you're in the endzone in a game winning situation your job is pretty simple: don't turn the ball over, score. That's why teams don't pass the ball when they're yards away from game winning or tying FG yardage: they run the ball, it's the least risky call. The Seahawks took the absolute riskiest option and got burned.
Throwing wasn't the problem, the problem was throwing a slant into the middle of a defense. With a short QB. It's just a risky call when all they needed to do was waste some time.
Lynch didn't fumble once on a run play this season. That seals it to me but I do agree that passing in general wasn't a bad idea...but if you pass, do a safe pass. Fade route or screen.
"There has been a lot of criticism that I don't think is anywhere close to being deserved or founded," Belichick said Tuesday during his weekly appearance on sports radio WEEI in Boston. "That football team is very good, very well-coached, and Pete does a great job. "Malcolm and Brandon [Browner], on that particular play, just made a great play. I think the criticism they've gotten for the game is totally out of line and by a lot of people who I don't think are anywhere near even qualified to be commenting on it."

My attachment is that he is the qb of my favorite team. No other explanation is needed. He's exciting to watch. Sure, he has things to fix, but so do 29 other starting qb's in the league. Like most everyone else, you take the good with the bad.
I disagree. Going 8-8 last season had much more to do with 20+ players on IR than it did with Kaeps play.
Plus, if Cutler can't do it with 2 WR's that are better than our starting 2, he couldn't do better in SF.
Bears still went 5-11 though. :yeshrug
This will be a telling years though. New coach, OC, and DC. We will be able to see if Kaep is that bad or if the play calling had something to do with it.
I will say Cutler is better than Kaep but I don't think he fits their personnel. Especially if the 49ers lose Gore and Crabtree. If Cutler couldn't perform with great offensive weapons in Chicago I don't see how he'll do it with fewer weapons in San Fran.
My problem with Kaep is that he's not a student of the game. The NFL has pretty much figured out the read option to the point where only Russell Wilson has survived the purge; RG3 is done, Kaep's career is up in the air. I just don't think he can advance his game because he doesn't put the time in.
I don't mean to talk shit, yall know I don't fux with my QB either.

The only big surprise was Pwill. Everyone else is off contract. There are quite a few teams that are losing high profile players. Gore and Justin Smith have younger and cheaper replacements. It's how the NFL works. You get a handful of players to make a run. The window is usually 2-4 years. That window has closed and you move on. It only seems like a bigger deal because of the slow moving off season where small things can be amplified.
Gore realized that going to the Eagles was a mistake and he's signing with the Colts instead

Seeing Megatron wearing purple in Baltimore tho :tocry
honestly as much as I'm a fan of him and my team...I kind of wish he was on the Patriots or something. Somewhere where he could win and possibly get a ring. Dude deserves it. The thought of this town wasting another elite superstar's career makes me want to vomit.
A lot of his injuries are due to Stafford's high, inaccurate passes. You can't lead your WRs into the middle of the field with bad passes, they'll get killed.
Yea I've talked to people who have met or do business with him and all say he's a chill dude. I love how he's been mentoring and teaching our young WRs.
Dude was injured multiple times last season, missed a few games, and still surpassed 1k yards again. If someone steps up and can stretch the field, he'll really go off. Move the safeties back and Megatron and Tate will do Madden numbers. That's why fixing our o-line should be the priority imo. Yall know I'm no Stafford fan but he got sacked nearly 50 times last year. Remember how shitty Brady looked early last season due to bad o-line play?
Lombardi's offense revolves around deep drops and a WR stretching the field. Can't do that with a shitty o-line, and I think Lombardi takes an L for not adapting once it was obvious the line was weak. Fixing the line and everyone being more familiar with the offense SHOULD result in good things this year. If not, fire Lombardi and start looking for another QB.

Jameis Winston scored 27 on his Wonderlic, 1 point less than Peyton Manning, Drew Brees & Russell Wilson (all w/ 28).
There goes that narrative.
The Cowboys used their standard selection process again this year:
The names of top prospects on their draft board, Jerry Jones’ favorite prospect and Stephen Jones’ favorite prospect were placed in a 10-gallon hat.
Jerry Jones drew a card, announced that his choice had been selected and tucked the card deep inside the breast pocket of his sportcoat.
Stephen grew suspicious and demanded to see the card.
Jerry reached into his coat and searched around real hard. His eyes grew very shifty, but he finally found the card. It had his prospect’s name. But it was written on the Jack of Hearts.
“Paw, I didn’t think it would come to this,” Stephen said, “again.” He drew two pearl-handled Colt revolvers and pointed them at Jerry.
“I taught you well, son,” Jerry said, slipping a derringer from his sleeve. “But not well enough.”
“We’ll have no gunfights in here, daddy and Ol’ Hoss,” Charlotte Jones Anderson said, slipping between them. “Why don’t we just draft Byron Jones, and I will have catering rustle you both up some more fried okra?”
The Jones boys lowered their pistols and agreed. The Cowboys drafted Byron Jones.
Jones was notified by Jones and Jones.
Jerry Jones will then give a lengthy press conference explaining how it was his decision all along.
Finally, Jason Garrett will be notified.
I guess now I'm a Titans fan with the Mariota pick. After doing some research, I'm already expecting it to be awful unless they really have an idea of how to integrate Mariota into their offensive scheme, which is currently not in Mariota's favor at all.

How is everyone feeling about their squad?
The big Lions offseason news was the loss of Suh to the Dolphins but honestly I don't think defense will determine our destiny this year; IMO we'll still stop the run, the secondary is better than last year, we bring back some good folks from injury, etc. To me the major story is Matt Stafford and whether he can take that next step at QB. If the offense can be as good as it looks on paper we'll be really good. If Stafford continues to be inconsistent we'll be average to bad.
Megatron is healthy for the first time in a couple years, Abdullah is gonna be good, the o-line should be better than last year, Tate is gonna be Tate, Eric Ebron seems to be putting things together....it could be a really explosive offense. In fact it should be. There's no excuse not to put up big numbers with these weapons.

I totally sympathize with not believing in Stafford, but here's the thing: in terms of raw ability and talent, who else are you gonna get on the free agent market that is gonna do a better job? With qbs these days, I feel like you either suffer or draft and develop a qb into an efficient system player. Andrew Luck isn't available even every year in the draft, and if he is he's going first or second pick, so you can't count on that.
Stafford is one of the worst QBs in history in terms of decision making. His numbers only look good because he gets to throw to Calvin Johnson so much. He puts up a ton of empty yards.

sorry brownies, we had to do it. just win baby!
Denver and Carolina gotta be the least threatening 3-0 teams. Arizona and New England have separated themselves the most imo; Seattle and Green Bay the only other teams that look like legit contenders
Nah breh. Seattle at home. That defensive line? Cam back? Nah. Perhaps Seattle will struggle on offense, but I'm not talking about that. Defense wise they're going to manhandle our o-line.
Man, it must really suck to have a sucky team.
Man, it must really suck to have a sucky team.
Aside from a few teams (Cleveland, Jacksonville, etc.) the NFL is cyclical based on the salary cap system. It's way more competitive than MLB where you can spend as much as you want every year. Once, your Patriots were terrible. Now they're really good. The more important question is: will you still be a fan when they're bad?
Cheaters always prosper.
Man, it must really suck to have a sucky team.
NE has drafted pretty well, including the best QB in the league.:gurl
The Patriots have been good for 15 years now, though. They're an anomaly in the NFL.
There are a handful of NFL teams that have great success year in and year out because of great ownership, coaching, personnel, and consistent quarterback play:

Our organized competition is a really good illustrator of what's awful about American culture, I'd rather revel in it than pretend like it's an aberration

One of those teams is not like the other. Since 2001, only New England hasn't had a losing or .500 season. They've missed the playoffs a grand total of twice (2002 on a 9-7 year, sandwiched between 3 super bowl titles, and the year Brady was hurt when they 11-5.) The Patriots are operating on another level.
You're essentially trying to argue that those four franchises are equals, which is untrue: over that time span, the other teams have losing seasons, fewer trips to the playoffs (with the exception of the Colts, who also only missed the playoffs twice but had losing seasons the years they missed the playoffs), shittier winning percentages, and fewer super bowl titles.
Are they good franchises? Yes. Are they as good as the Patriots? No. If you want to call them all A caliber teams, you have to acknowledge the Pats as A-1. Kiss the ring, and also plz acknowledge that your qb is a rapist.

Well, RE racing, I think it would kill more children if it were profitable to do so. At least in domestic racing, I don't follow the F1 feeder career path but FIA at least appears more concerned with fatalities than our governing bodies.I remember my friend taking his kid to peewee football when he was 8 and they were talking about 2 a days, 5 days of practice and a game on Saturdays. For fucking 7 year olds.
As for the rest of the article, I tend to part ways with progressives that try to argue extraordinary circumstances (in this case, football's health costs), but base and superstructure enjoy less acceptance than Kabbalah so I'm not going to die on that hill.
More than a little depressing that this is still applicable today.Quote[T]he little children who in this system are robbed of their childhood and in their tender years are seized in the remorseless grasp of Mammon and forced into the industrial dungeons, there to feed the monster machines while they themselves are being starved and stunted, body and soul.

Vick is my QB tonight. I might join you.
Lions getting nice penetration on defense.
I put up the 2nd highest point total in the Bore league, but lost to AiA, who put up the highest. My dumb fault for not replacing my injured TE. His team played Thursday, and the game just crept up on me as I was out of the house all day.
Still sucks to outscore all but one team and still lose. At 1-3, I'll need to go on a tear to make the playoffs.
Megatron is definitely going to be cut after this season; his cap hit will be 24m iirc. I wonder where he'll go. Hopefully a contender, he deserves a ring.
We wasted another first ballot HoFer's career. Sickening. He's still really good and can get 1000 yards with ease. This offense is terrible for him though.

If the 1-3 Dolphins continue this current slide, there will be plenty of cautionary tales to be told about Miami, but the worst — and most expensive — may come in the form of Ndamukong Suh. Through four games, Suh remains without a sack, and his one quarterback hit has him on pace for 20 percent of his 2014 total. Suh didn’t suddenly fall off a cliff — there are both personnel and schematic reasons he hasn’t been his old self — but the well-known problems that come with handing a single non-quarterback $60 million guaranteed have been obvious.http://grantland.com/the-triangle/nfl-free-agency-2014-15-miami-dolphins-devner-broncos-ndamukong-suh-demarcus-ware/ :doge
Spending big money on Suh meant sticking with the status quo at linebacker and in weaker parts of the secondary. The same goes for the interior of the offensive line and at swing tackle, which could have used a slight upgrade. Suh’s production will eventually creep toward what we saw in Detroit, but the point, as it often is with free agency, is that the quick fix is rarely quick.
I am projected to whoop PD's ass this week. Adrian Beatersons all up in the ass.
Matty Ice looking like Stafford out there lol :doge

Does it allow you to take your money out immediately after you win? Still seems fishy to me.
I might try it for $1-5. Definitely feeling myself after this week's win. Given my injuries and waiver signings it was the type of win that could translate to Draft Kings.
GG. One of the most exciting weeks of FF for me.
You got Gronk for $1?

You have to have at least $20 to withdraw IIRC.
Yea my top two RBs (Lynch and McCoy) have been injured for weeks. Lynch will probably play this Sunday but who knows how effective he'll be.
That damn RB of yours is enough to put you ahead of my old ass QB and my shitty kicker. Should have gone with Carson Palmer again :snoop
I know everyone has to deal with injuries in fantasy football, but this is some straight up bullshit:
That's my WR1 and 2, my RB2 and 3 all questionable this week, while my WR3 (who has actually been healthy and reliably productive, unlike the other two I took ahead of him) is on bye. Also questionable- basically my 4th RB who I picked up because the others weren't producing/injured, and my back up QB, and oh yeah my back up TE. Fuck me with a chainsaw. Everything went down the shitter for me when Cheddaz took Tom Brady. FUCK YOU CHEDDAZ.
Also the Seahawks are poop this year.
I picked all the wrong players to start, and I still would have lost if I picked the right players :snoop
What a rough week.
On to real football. The NFC East and West are fucking jokes. Green Bay gotta be licking their chops.
This used to be such a fan rivalry too :tocry

Kaepernick is an enigma. You would think a guy with his athleticism would be good when he gets pressured, but he completely falls apart. He's a worse version of Andy Dalton.
Andy Dalton is a top 3 QB this year breh.

There's been rumblings around the league about larger scale changes in Detroit. Few know what to expect, with Martha Ford now in charge.
Hey guys, check your league notifications. I sent some trade proposals out. Reasonable counter-offers will be considered. Obviously Yahoo's point projections aren't perfect, but check out "evaluate trade" to benchmark proposals.

It's worth noting some Seahawk asshole broke one of our DT's legs (and possibly ended his playing career) last week with a legal chop block. Shit is legal but still pisses me off.
This lack of offense is going to cost us the game. Three and outs and holding the opposition to FGs is great.

The manager of Adrian Beatersons was probably the person who destroyed the curve on every test in school. They scored 146.90 points against a projected 111.64 and beat their scoring projection for the sixth time this season, including the last five weeks in a row.
Adrian Beatersons had their highest score of the season and the sixth-highest in the league this season with 146.90 points.

How for real are the Panthers? Can they win the NFC? You've gotta think they've got a shot against Green Bay after the Packers were exposed by the Broncos this weekend, right? Small shot? I dunno.

Hard to believe since they're probably gonna get a bye :P
I dunno, man. The rest of the NFC seems softer than the Walrus other than the Packers and maybe the Cardinals.
Were the Packers exposed tho? People never talk about the fact that Rodgers hasn't beaten a good team on the road since December 2012. If they can secure field advantage in the NFC they'll be fine. They play Carolina in GB so that should be a win. I really don't see a team in the NFC that can beat them at home in the playoffs.
I dunno man, looking at their schedule it seems hard to believe they'll only win 3 more games when they've got Ten, Was, Atl twice (the Falcons are frauds at 6-2), and TB left on their schedule. Plus winnable games against NO and the Giants. I'm not saying I'm buying into them but their defense has been pretty stout too this season generally speaking. I could easily see them getting between 11-13 wins and a bye.

Imagine what Brady's numbers would look like if he had the receivers Manning had early in his career...
Brady is the GOAT. Manning has the records and numbers but I'll take Brady over prime Manning if I want to win a game. Hell I'd take Rodgers over Manning in similar situations.

97.1 accuses Lions of censorship demands; team denieshttp://www.freep.com/story/sports/nfl/lions/2015/11/20/detroit-lions-wxyt-wjr-radio/76100126/
So it wasn't just about the money? Or was it?
When the Detroit Lions stink — which can be often — the WXYT-FM (97.1) personalities never hesitate to talk about it.
And that might have cost WXYT its 12-year status as the team's flagship station — the Lions today announced a new five-year broadcast partnership with WJR-AM (760) — according to CBS Detroit senior vice president and market manager Debbie Kenyon
Kenyon said in a released statement that control of Lions content was the sticking point in negotiations.
"CBS Radio and the Detroit Lions are parting ways," Kenyon said. "97.1 The Ticket has served as the flagship station for the Lions for more than a decade. CBS Radio says it has been negotiating with the Lions a long time.
"It is sad to say goodbye, but in the end it came down to the integrity of CBS — the refusal to be censored in talking about the team and making honest assessments on the air about this team."
• Related: Follow Schrader's sports oddities in the Ticker
Elizabeth Parkinson, Lions senior vice president of marketing and partnerships, denied the charge.
"It simply isn't true," Parkinson said. "This was a business decision for the Detroit Lions. We fully understand and respect the separation between editorial and business.
"You don't have to look any further than the fact that, over the last dozen or so years, we've negotiated this broadcast deal with CBS multiple times."

So far it sounds like Calvin's issue is mainly health related. He's getting married soon and is tired of getting destroyed on Sundays, physically.

Honestly I wish it was about leaving Detroit. He trusted the organization to turn it around and signed a long term contract. Immediately afterward the team had two losing seasons. Made it back to the playoffs in 2014, then sucked this year. Now there's talk of a rebuild. He has to be tired of this shit. I hope he asks to be cut and goes elsewhere. He could easily dominate for 2-3 years with the Patriots.

I think the cold effected you guys more than the Vikings defense, honestly.
Heard some ppl call Seattle lucky. Yea Minnesota missed an easy FG...but Seattle's defense really clawed them back into the game. And while the offense wasn't great Wilson made multiple great plays that saved the day.

So I'm home alone and a little bit lifted. If anybody has any NFL questions that like answered now is the time.
Have pick plays/rub routes always been this common? I see them all the time now, and I'm not sure if it's cause of a recent trend or if I've just become more aware of them from various analysts pointing them out.
So I'm home alone and a little bit lifted. If anybody has any NFL questions that like answered now is the time.Couple questions. The Lions decided to keep Jim Caldwell as coach today. Players seem to love him almost universally and celebrated the news, whereas local media and some fans aren't happy. What are some of the things that result in a coach being loved or hated by the locker room, things that fans may not think of.

Second q...how much prep went into studying an opposing offense during a week. I'd imagine it would feel amazing to study something all week and then execute perfectly in game. I'm thinking of that Wilson INT in the Super Bowl where Butler knew the slant play was coming.

I remember the first time I listened to Cowherd, he claimed he knew how a fanbase thinks because he spent a lot of time in the city during layovers. I had to keep listening to see if he was some epic nuanced troll that was re-inventing sports talk radio, but no, just a blowhard douchebag.I could never listen to this guy. His LISP absolutely destroyed my ears.
Panthers with another great start. awaiting imminent meltdownor not :larry
For reference, they played the AFC south and the NFC east, their division is also garbage so 11 out of the 14 teams they've played this year have been awful (to their credit, they have been beating the fuck out of these teams). They let green bay, indianapolis, and seattle in the divisional round make games out of what should've been decided contests, the game in Seattle could've easily been a loss (I'm assuming, didn't catch that one). That said, last night convinced me that these guys are bulletproof at home. Prior to Mathieu going down, arizona was probably the most complete team in the league. Going into this weekend they were certainly the best offense and Carolina turned them over 6 times. They beat a 13 win team by 34 in the second most important game of the season. That's fucking crazy.
Actually Carolina was blowing Seattle out until they got conservative in the second half and Wilson sparked the comeback.
Going into the season's last game, some journalists at ESPN and elsewhere were picking Palmer. A not so quite scientific ESPN poll of 58,000 fans picked Tom Brady. The diplomatic Washington Post called it a tie. Can't we all get along?
No. We can't.
Forget the technical points that 1) No. 2) Cam's cast of journeymen wide receivers resemble Ella Fitzgerald more than Larry Fitzgerald, and 3) the Panthers' 15-1 near-perfect record is just not perfect enough.
The real MVP debate tragedy is if Cam had Carson's career, there would be no debate.
Cam would have been driven out of the league by 2012 after Palmer posted his third straight losing season going 12-28. Not Cam or any black quarterback can pull off a career comeback like Carson’s… or Alex Smith’s… or Ryan Fitzpatrick’s.
No black quarterback in NFL history has ever reeked as much as these guys and lived to throw about it.
Ever.
For NFL white quarterbacks, the "Freedom to Fail" is the whitest trait of all.
This postseason may as well be called The White Privilege Playoffs.
Cam can be utterly amazing, but here is what Cam can't do:
Cam Can't Be Carson Palmer
Not off-the-field either. If Cam refused to report to camp after a 4-12 season and forced a trade like Carson did with the Bengals, he would be branded a "me-first" diva and possibly gone from the league. And if one of Cam's celebration's included Carson's crotch-taunting moves, then more than one mother would be sending a "letter-to-the-editor" about her now corrupted kid.
Palmer's second chances are par for the course for No. 1 QB picks who are white. Before giving up, Tim Couch received 59 starts before the Browns gave up, and David Carr got a whopping 79. Even heralded No. 2 picks get long looks. Five teams took a chance on Rick Mirer, and all-time bust/head case Ryan Leaf had four teams sign him before he voluntarily quit the game.

I'd like to think he thought it was an incomplete pass and didn't just get scared.

Hate to see Cam go down like that. I think showing some grace after a loss is important but at the same time...I won't criticize someone for being emotional and passionate after a loss. It's funny, if Cam is super passionate after winning he "isn't respecting the game." And if he's super passionate after losing he also "isn't respecting the game." Dude can't win.
But hey...that defense made Brady look like a scrub too.
Losing isn't fun, and people don't have to like my comments, that's fair. I don't have an issue with any player getting excited when they're doing well. I think he got so used to winning this season that the game yesterday caught him off guard. But it's also a good thing to stand up and own it.

In some parallel universe, the end of Super Bowl 50 is a heartwarming affair, with an aging legend riding the coattails of a young, brilliant defense to one last title … one glorious final run that ends with a gimpy old man sitting atop the shoulders of his teammates and being carried off into the sunset, with a tasteful Jerry Goldsmith film score playing in the background. That’s a pleasant enough ending. That’s an ending you can feel good about.
That’s not the ending we got on Sunday night. On Sunday night, what we got was an over-the-hill, shitty player who had to be dragged to a title by a world-class defense … a player who was benched for ineffective play earlier this season and was reinstated to the starting lineup only because his replacement was equally ineffective.
And how did Peyton Manning celebrate this good fortune? By kissing fucking Papa John and openly shilling for Budweiser. The biggest, most wonderful moment at the end of a storied career, and he’s selling me shitty beer.
Fuck this guy.
I’ve never liked Peyton Manning. Back in 1997, Charles Woodson beat him out for the Heisman and I was so happy that I drunkenly threw a chair across the room (it made sense at the time). Even when he played the Patriots, I sided with New England. Do you know how annoying you have to be to have a Boston team be the preferable rooting alternative? The worst thing is that no matter what he’s done—whether harassing a trainer or losing yet another game to Steve Spurrier, casually tossing his line under the bus or sending hired goons to strong-arm the family of someone claiming that he shot donkey placenta cells into his face—he has gotten the benefit of the doubt from Phil SEEMS and the like. It’s amazing that you can buy off the media for life simply by being football royalty and remembering their names when they ask something at a press conference.
And Manning has gotten this preferential treatment despite the fact that, for two decades, he has played the most robotic, boring, aesthetically unexciting brand of football possible. Peyton is quarterback-as-floorslapper: shuffling his feet, flapping his stupid arms, crying out OMAHA, deploying every last possible distraction tactic on a defense and piling up records without any semblance of athletic grace or style. Was it effective? Of course it was. Was it FUN? No. Jesus, no. My ideal NFL Films compilation is Tracy Porter picking off Peyton on a continuous, nine-hour loop.
So when the Broncos spent all of yesterday actively pulling a Floyd Mayweather and avoiding ANY semblance of offensive risk, I felt no joy at all to see it pay off. And deep down, I’m sucker for anything. I’ll watch any title game celebration, no matter the sport. I cry during movie trailers. Give me the phoniest redemption tale and I’ll usually buy it. But for Peyton Manning? No. No, screw that. I felt nothing.
In fact, I became actively annoyed that CBS kept trying to push the storybook angle on me. The fuck does Peyton Manning need MORE adulation for? Was this guy’s life not already a golden road? Why does a millionaire and surefire Hall-of-Famer require a perfect ending? The way Manning played in that game, and the way the Broncos game-planned, he certainly didn’t deserve that. Who wants to see Extreme Martyball rewarded? He deserved to lose 87-0.
But he didn’t. The Broncos defense crushed the Panthers, and Peyton Manning gets to go out a champion despite being incidental to his team’s success (and he gets to retire without worrying about any kind of pesky PED suspension). And I’m supposed to pretend this is nice for HIM when enough nice things have happened to Peyton Manning already and when, for all I know, he’s a miserable wretch of a human being. Not a chance. Fuck Peyton. Fuck Peyton forever.
No one gives a fuck about football players that take drugs. The assumption is that 90 percent of them take something.
People only care in baseball because they grew up with the notion that the stats meant something.

I think TA's saying that PED's became a huge deal in baseball because people knew and cared so much about the home run records (61 and 755) and felt they had been broken specifically through steroid use, whereas it's not that big a deal to football fans. I'd generally agree.
I was talking with a friend while watching the SuperBowl, and we both agreed that we can't wait until football can only be played by death row inmates, because then we can just drop all pretenses and shoot them full of EVERYTHING. Imagine an 8 foot halfback. Shit's gonna be glorious, brehs.
It's been said he could barely walk up stairs on Mondays during the season. I can't imagine being in my late 20s/early 30s and feeling like that.
Real talk: Anyone shittalking Johnson while simultaneously defending Stafford can eat a dick.

Talked to a group of "in the know" football people tonight, and there was talk of Joey Bosa dropping to at least the middle of Round 1.
Not only that, trading up to presumably take a QB from what is basically a division II team that hasn't really played anyone of note. Who was also injured for much of last season.
:mindblown
You guys lost some major o-line depth in FA. Would you take Bosa or Ramsey over Tunsil (Ole Miss OT)? Dunno. The Lions are kind of in a similar situation where we need an OT badly...but if Bosa or Shaq Lawson drop to 16 I'd take them in a heartbeat. So I feel you lol.
I agree RG3 can work. But perhaps the other issue is that if you go with RG3 and don't draft a QB early, you gotta really really fix that o-line. Taking Bosa or Ramsey doesn't prevent you from doing that of course. This is a deep OL draft.

Bernie Sanders Will Remain the True Democratic Front-Runner Until the FBI Finishes Its Investigationhttp://www.huffingtonpost.com/h-a-goodman/bernie-sanders-will-remain-the-true-democratic_b_9736638.html
Bernie Sanders is the only Democratic candidate for president not linked to an FBI investigation. This used to mean something in American politics, but those days are gone. Today, I’m viewed as delusional, by the same people who think smart politics and qualifications entail endless scandals, poor decision-making on everything from major foreign policy decisions to Wall Street speeches, and ongoing FBI investigations. In truth, the only delusion is believing that a candidate at risk of DOJ indictments, and facing political repercussions even without these indictments, would make a great president.

hopefully Conklin can block worth a shit and #ProtectMariota.
Demarco & Henry should be a good combo. get Sankey tf outta town. everybody knew that was a garbage pick even back then.
i don't know anything about the safety we drafted.
DT pick was surprising. I would've taken A'Shawn in that spot if you have to pick that position but thats just me.
i guess we go into the season with with DGB, Wright and Justin Hunter as our top 3 receivers? not terrible but not great either.
im still kinda tight about us keeping Mularkey. don't really know what they saw in those games he coached to sell them on his vision. cause i didn't see shit. and he's never been worth a shit as a head coach anywhere else.
in short im encouraged but i remain unconvinced
Why? Because apparently Cook is a bad guy.

Great third option. Man...we have so many weapons. Gonna be real interesting to see how this plays out, specifically the o-line. If they keep Stafford clean the offense could be very fucking effective. Jones and Tate on the outside, Boldin and Ebron inside. Plus you have Riddick and Abdullah in the backfield who are YAC monsters.
Still don't think we make the playoffs though.

If you're interested in joining the Bore fantasy league say so. We also need to set up a draft...probably sometime in late August.
But ability doesn’t always translate into results. And so as the Titans embark on a crucial stretch for the former no. 2 overall draft pick on the eve of his second professional season, coach Mike Mularkey has forged a bold plan: In an age when seemingly everyone wants to be cutting edge, the Titans and their modern-age quarterback aren’t going to be particularly innovative offensively. And that’s by design.
“I’m going to do the things that I’ve had success with since 2001, and I will continue to do that until someone stops us,” said Mularkey, who served as the Titans’ interim head coach for part of the 2015 season and is now their full-time boss. Statistics show that NFL teams are passing more than ever, with teams throwing an average of 20 percent more yards in 2015 than they did in 2005. But Mularkey has no intention of adjusting his offense to fit that new reality, or indeed even accepting that there is a new reality: “I know people say this is a passing league,” Mularkey said. “I’ll argue with that.”
“It’s just ridiculous that the same league that prohibits the Dallas (Cowboys) football club from honoring the slain officers in their community with their uniforms stands silent when Kaepernick is dishonoring police officers with what he’s wearing on the field," Bill Johnson, executive director of the National Association of Police Organizations (a coalition of police unions and associations from across the country), told USA TODAY Sports.:usacry
“I think the league is in a downward spiral regarding their obligations to the public under (Commissioner) Roger Goodell," added Johnson, "and this is just another example of that."

It's been turrible listening to local fans cape for Kirk Cousins the last year and a half. Feels like they're on the precipice of turning against him, which is kinda hilarious.Big Ten gotta stick together and all but...Cousins is a backup. He's a check down king who doesn't seem like he can read coverages. Has he beaten a good team recently btw? Seems like his record is ugly as hell but I don't have the numbers in front of me.
At this point I basically just steal Cian Fahey's opinions about quarterbacks and pass them off as my own.

I feel like a damn fool for buying the Gurley hype. The Rams don't have a QB. Gurley is really good but when you're facing 8 in the box every time+no pass threat whatsoever your numbers aren't going to be great. Hoping he turns it around. Not going to bench him yet...ill give it one more week...
Yea something does seem wrong about him. Knowing my luck as a ff player and Lions fan he'll run all over us lmao. Still I'm gonna bench him, I'm more confident in him bombing again than having a good game.
Speaking of bombing what's up with Rodgers. Dude has been meh since the second half of last season. Maybe he's just tired of McCarthy, maybe he feels sick watching his passes get dropped by DaVante Adams. Who knows. He doesn't look like the same QB.

GB has a top 10 pass block this season (and last season iirc). Last year Rodgers' struggles made sense given the injuries to their weapons and DaVante Adams being trash. This year most of the weapons are fine. Yea you could say Jordy Nelson isn't the player he used to be but still, Rodgers has looked fugly. Did fine last night apparently (I only watched like 5 minutes, fuck TNF).
Jim Caldwell‘s seat was looking pretty hot earlier this month, but talk of a coaching change in Detroit has cooled now that the Lions are on a three-game winning streak. However, things change quickly in the NFL and there’s no guarantee that Caldwell will be back in 2017 if the Lions cannot keep it up in the second half. If there is a head coaching change, Chris Mortensen of ESPN.com hears that Lions GM Bob Quinn would probably consider Patriots defensive coordinator Matt Patricia to Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels.https://www.profootballrumors.com/2016/10/lions-matt-patricia-josh-mcdaniel-caldwell
In a scenario where McDaniels was hired as the Lions’ head coach, current offensive coordinator Jim Bob Cooter would probably be squeezed out. Given how well Cooter has worked with quarterback Matthew Stafford, the Lions are likely eager to hang on to their OC. And, at the young age of 32, Cooter can probably be kept as OC for at least a few more years.
Of course, the Lions are going to have to make a serious commitment to keep Stafford in place as he excels in his contract year.

HOUSTON—Quickly shaking out the contents of the cardboard box as confetti rained down around him on the midfield stage, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell dumped out the broken pieces of the Lombardi Trophy Sunday evening in front of New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady. “Here—congratulations on your win,” Goodell reportedly muttered before briskly walking by the celebrating Patriots and off the platform as the trophy’s sterling-silver football rolled around beside its dented and scratched stand. “What a season.” Sources confirmed that Goodell proceeded to walk directly out of NRG Stadium and was then immediately driven to George Bush Intercontinental Airport.

There's a tiny difference between President of the United States of America and a fucking football game, ya ponce.
Kyle "Offensive Genius" Shanahan blew this game.

I don't know what you mean. I know by far the most Pats fans of anyone here and they're all great.
Go Pats.

You think they should've ran the ball three times and chanced a 40+ yard field goal for the win? He would've got crushed if they missed it and played conservatively.
They were still moving the ball well that half, just had bad luck with that sack and then the holding penalty.
It's kind of surreal that not 1 but 2 professional teams will be in The Meadows, especially an NFL one (not that the NFL is exemplary at distancing itself from gambling). It will be really interesting how quickly the NHL team becomes competitive and how that will impact ticket sales.
Anyway, viva Las Vegas.

Relocation will be much easier than expansion. But then again one of the prevailing narratives is that season tickets will be snatched up by businesses en masse anyway

I should quite watching football. if my raidahs go 20 years without a winning season and I've watched all 20...I'm gonna dig al's body up and drop it on the field in the middle of a game:dead

I'm kinda faded rn but I want to say this Raiders team will be the best team that has switched locations/cities in a long ass time. Raiders got a real good QB, o-line, and defense.

Fact Check: The Las Vegas Raiders have never had a losing season.
