Fruitbat Factory announced on Tuesday that it is bringing Eiyuu Senki, the PlayStation 3 tactical role-playing game from developer TENCO and publisher MAGES. label 5pb.Games, to Europe and North America simultaneously. The localizer told the Gematsu website that the game will have a digital-only release.
The "mix of a strategy game, RPG and visual novel" features over 70 characters by Oyari Ashito and other artists. I finished Senran Kagura 2's story mode a week ago. I like the game and the increased difficulty is welcome, but I still prefer Shinovi Versus on the Vita to it. There were some camera issues that I've read can be alleviated with a circle pad pro, but I'm not going to buy one just for this game. Hopefully the upcoming patch does something about it. There's still the challenge and 'dungeons' modes left to play, plus I think I'm going to try clearing the game on hard. Some of the later boss battles are pretty tough, so it should be a challenge.
Next on the animu list was Akiba's Trip, but I've decided to wait for more DLC before playing it. If I'm gonna go all uguu, I want to play as Super Sonico, not generic random anime dude.
Last week I also got Bullet Girls. Right now I'm not sure what to think. Senran Kagura's whole gimmick is that it's all fan-servicey, but there's actual game play to back it up. This game seems to be all fan service (and the characters models aren't very appealing) and the game play is pretty mediocre. It reminds me a bit of Lost Planet's default controls, where the cursor on screen is very loose and not 'fixed' to your character. That was something I always changed in LP, but this game doesn't have that option. So the shooting mechanics feel very loose and I don't feel like I have the type of control that I should.

Tecmo KOEI Europe announced on Monday that it will release Atelier Shallie: Alchemists of the Dusk Sea in 2015.
The game serves as the final chapter in the "Dusk" trilogy, and takes place in a world where the waterbeds are drying up and plant life is dying. Two young alchemists meet in an oasis. Players will be able to play as one of two heroines: Shallie (voiced by Kotori Koiwai) or Shallotte (Sumire Uesaka).
The game shipped for PlayStation 3 in Japan on July 17 after being delayed from June 26.

Nairo High School: Seishun Hakusho takes place on a small island located somewhere in Japan, called Yumegashima, and it’s where you’ll spend time exploring what D3 calls “youthful memories that are filled with panties”.
The protagonist will spend three months as a transfer student at a school on the island. After meeting a childhood friend, he decides to join the journalism club that hasn’t been doing too well.
Using his camera, he’ll be getting a bunch of scoops for the club. And by scoops, I mean taking pictures of girls. Since Nairo High School has over 300 characters living on the island, with over 150 of them as part of quests. Depending on what you do with these characters, it will alter the development and ending of the game’s story.
One screenshot from the magazine shows the protagonist laying on the floor to take a quick look at a lady’s *ahem* undergarments. He then gets detained by the police. Even though Hairo High School offers plenty of freedom in an open world, it looks like you’ll actually have to be careful and not get caught, or face the consequences.
Nairo High School: Seishun Hakusho will release in Japan sometime in 2015 for PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4.

OK, so awful load times (average of 38 seconds per loading screen) and subpar visuals (this game barely looks any better than the PS3 version, which was already not very impressive) aside, the game play is actually pretty good and you can do some crazy combos with the tag feature, which now allows you to switch between up to four characters during battle. There seems to be a pretty good amount of moves/combo strings and each character gets two weapons that they can switch between at any time. I'm more impressed with this version of the game than any of the previous ones, but it still feels like an over-priced Simple 2000 Series 2000 yen game.

D3 Publisher has released a new set of screenshots from Natsuiro High School: Seishun Hakusho showcasing some of the physical and touch events the protagonist will experience with the game’s heroines.
Among the physical events are bike-riding with the heroine of your choice on the back of the bike (speed up and she’ll cling to your back), holding hands and crossing arms (inside the island’s high school alone at night), and even carrying your heroine.
Then there are the touch events, which you’ll have the opportunity to play out in talking with the game’s heroines. For example, wiping the cream off of her mouth, or even touching her shoulder or the forbidden chest area. However, your favorability rating with her may lower depending on your choices, so it’s best to act in moderation.
Finally, you’ll also get a look at the classic watermelon beach event. You can go to the beach with your classmates and the heroines, where you can partake in a “watermelon splitting” event. But the watermelon splitting in Natsuiro High School is a bit different. For some reason, the player becomes the watermelon. But through this strange method, you can watch the girls try to split open the fruit from the eyes of the watermelon.
Natsuiro High School: Seishun Hakusho is due out for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 next Thursday, June 4 in Japan.

Grand Kingdom isn't turn based? Thought it was, but never really played Grand Knights History. You don't like Tales/Star Ocean/FFXV/KH type battle systems? So I just found out that the PS4 Miku Future Tone game that comes out in 20 days has 220 songs. Holy shit! Was gonna pass on it because just played the 3ds chibi one and Diva X this year and I don't think they're the most fun music games. But the 3ds one had like 40 something songs and Diva X had 30, so with 220 songs all at 60fps with nice graphics and 340 unlockable outfits....uh, that's a lot of content and seems like a great deal.Yeah future tone is going to basically be every song they've made a pv/map/whatever for EVER. Diva X is a different game with different new content I think. Senran holds a steady 60 fps on PC according to most people. Only irritance I have to report on is the camera which is to be expected with a Vita title.

The Miku Future Tone game with the 220 songs hasn't been announced for the US, right? You guys think it will come out here, with the only reason it hasn't been announced would be to not nip sales of Diva X in the bud?
And Steins Gate continues to be amazing, at least by graphic novel standards. They take so many liberties in a story that a book or movie could never get away with :lol just talking about times where characters miss asking important and obvious questions or communicating other things that would expedite everything a whole lot. Still, I'm pretty gripped by it.

Hmmm, I want to experience the Steins Gate story at some point because I've heard it's quite good, but I heard the anime was a very good adaptation and it's probably shorter to just watch the anime at 12 hours than read a long ass VN. If you've seen the anime, would you recommend the VN over the anime?
Been getting better each day at Miku. Cleared my first Extreme and Extra Extreme song woooooo. Honestly Extra Extreme didn't feel any harder. The toughest part of Extreme & Extra Extreme are all the tons of combo notes which are hard to track when they're coming fast. The rest is all pretty doable coming from hard.
Then went back to my hearted song list so far and cleared all the ones on hard I hadn't passed. Beating one-sided motherfucking love samba (7) & hatsune miku no gekishou (8 ) was a goddamn feat. Took a few retries, had to stand up and play. Was sweating intense, but beat them both. Feels fucking good man! Quit after beating Gekishou on hard cause I ain't doing better than that tonight.
Went back to F + F2nd yesterday and cleaned the fuck up! I think intense voice is harder and has a better chart in F tho, on hard
edit: oof, let me update that to a lot of songs in F+F2nd. Finished hard mode in both today. There's so much to like in future tone but a lot of the hard charts feel a bit sparse compared to what they put you through in F on hard. maybe it's because a controller gives you double the buttons to deal with songs made for 4 buttons and a slider, where F is designed around the whole controller. I'll have to do more comparisons.

Valkyrie Drive is coming out in September. The publisher, PQUBE, confirmed that it will be uncensored and even said something along the lines of "getting it approved to be released, without censoring anything, was no problem, and we talked to stores who would carry it knowing what kind of content it has. We don't get why other publishers censor similar games."

Unfortunately this game is far from the original Japanese version. They basically removed all the cutscenes, death animation, grab attacks, and basically everything else that would make it worthwhile. Go ahead and get it at DLsite for a richer experience. I'm happy that Steam gave me a refund.

Nintendo 'Murica totally allows for all that shit to get localized- both 3DS SK games came out here with no changes. The last Senran Kagura, that was released on the Switch, doesn't even have the beat-em-up game play and instead is just a visual novel "groping simulator." And they let that get released on the eShop.

In a recent broadcast, developer light talked about their struggle bringing the visual novel Silverio Trinity to PlayStation due to Sony’s new regulations affecting ports for games ages 18 and up.
Over the years we’ve seen countless PC visual novels for ages 18 and up release as toned-down ports on PlayStation consoles, but Sony Interactive Entertainment has adapted a new policy that is more strict towards games with sexual-themed content. This new change has made it increasingly difficult for even Japanese developers to bring their titles to PlayStation consoles, in Japan.
We’ve recently seen console games such as Omega Labyrinth Z and Senran Kagura Burst Re:Newal have their Western localization affected by Sony’s new regulation, and visual novel developer light had their own bit to share about the frustrations of getting a PlayStation port of Silverio Trinity.

In the case of developer Harukaze’s Nora to Oujo to Noraneko Heart (or Nora, Princess, and Stray Cat), the PS Vita version that released in September 2017 had the usual light censorship that covered nudity from the original PC version, but the PlayStation 4 version, which released October 25, 2018, took some heavy damage from the censorship beams.
The game also released for Nintendo Switch alongside the PS4 version and it received the same censorship as the PS Vita version.
It's weird that Sony is clamping down a bit on these kinds of games at the same time that Steam has opened the flood gates to outright porn.

Senran Kagura series’ boobie producer Kenichiro Takaki revealed in this week’s issue of Famitsu magazine that he has left Marvelous after 13 years and has joined Cygames for something new. [Thanks, Ryokutya2089.]
According to Takaki, the biggest reason he left Marvelous is due to the recent policies that have restricted sexual depictions. He personally felt a thread snap with that. He says that while sexual content tends to get criticized a lot, it has just as much people who enjoy it.
Takaki always believed that such variety was one of the things that supported the games industry, but after realizing how easily that could be broken, it made him think about other things. While Takaki welcomes restrictions and regulations that are made to protect certain genres and surroundings, he felt that this recent trend is happening for the purpose of shutting things down.
As for his next work, Takaki wants to work on an orthodox fantasy-like game that he used to be crazy about when he was a child. He joined Cygames with that in mind, and is currently working on a title for consoles.
Senran Kagura fans who were looking forward to the next titles won’t have to worry, as he will continue working on those and will make sure they get finished. However, he says Senran Kagura 7even will take some time. The base of the game won’t change, but there are some parts that need upgrading. After that he hopes either he or someone else can finish it and bring it to the fans. The presentation of erotic gags are better than ever, and he will continue working with the staff of Senran Kagura.
“I’ll let Marvelous handle the adjustments, but I’ll continue to stick around as the boobie producer,” said Takaki.
As for other work at Marvelous, he’s currently part of a new multimedia project that involves a game and anime. The original plan was by Takaki and it features character designs by Hanaharu Naruko and animation directed by Hiraku Kaneko.
The new project doesn’t involve Senran Kagura, but Marvelous will be the producers. It has beautiful girls, but their clothes won’t be coming off. It is described as an orthodox hot-blooded game, and its development started about a year and a half ago. It features a girl riding a bike, so it sounds like a possible action game.
Takaki wants to make something amazing that will make people think it’s cheeky coming from the “Boobie Producer.”
“The place I work and the nature of my work may change, but I won’t and will not change what I want to show,” said Takaki. “I’m a video game fan down to the core and I say dirty jokes and spout a lot of nonsense [laughs], but when it comes to making games, I always give it my best.”

SIE PR Denies Reports Of Increased Censorship And “New” Rules For Sexual Content In PS4 Games
Sony Interactive Entertainment PR has denied the reports that they are increasing censorship in their games and will enforce new rules for sexual content in games that are published on the PS4.
Japanese website GameSpark has reported this news citing a Sony Interactive Entertainment Spokesperson. Wallstreet Journal reporter Takashi Mochizuki has shared an interpretation of the comments made by SIE PR person to the website.

Sony had confirmed to the Wall Street Journal that they have new rules in place for sexual content in PS4 games. This has led to an increase in censorship for some of the more niche Japanese games, also affected some of the more popular ones like Senran Kagura and Dead or Alive 3. Most of these games were released uncensored but changes were made to their most recent releases.
While Sony might be trying to deny it, for now, it doesn’t help explain their “new” rules that are indeed affecting all of the latest games. It also forces the developer to submit their games multiple times in order to pass the new rules established by Sony, thus increasing their cost of developing games for the PS4.
How does that excuse make any sense when Switch and PC games are coming out in the West less censored than the PS4 version?

Atelier Ryza is really good so far, definitely feels like a big injection of energy to the series after stagnating for about a decade. Haven't gotten far enough in to do any alchemy yet, though, so I dunno how different that is.

Bought this the other day. It's supposed to be some School Days, Doki Doki Literature Club tier dating sim/psychological horror game. Plus character design from the artist of Super Sonico.

This game is a 100% must for anyone who likes visual novels. It's short but it is well worth the price tag given the experience you'll get out of it. I don't want to say to much because it's a game that is ruined if you know too much. Don't look anything up buy it and play it.
That being said one massive massive downside to the steam release is that it does not include H content. I found this out by fast forwarding through Miyuki route. I personally really dislike H content in VNs as that's not why I read them and I find I just want to get back to the story at hand so unless I'm explicitly told I have to (Usually cause they're funny I.E. type moon) I just skip them. This game is the one exception to that. I think that this game actually gets ruined if you play it without H content. Every H scene is 100% necessary for plot and character progression. I don't know if there's a patch for adding H content back into the steam version but if there is not please purchase the DRM free version on JastUSA because your experience will not be as good without it. If there is a patch make sure you install it after buying the steam version. You might think that there's no way I'm serious but once you play it with H content still there you will understand what I mean.
Please play this game it's phenomenal
Edit: To reply to my comment that asks if it's worth the money (since steam still doesn't let you reply to comments or DM people you don't have added for some reason) I have spent $65 CAD purchasing this game twice so while it only ran me 12 hours I do not regret the money I spent and I loved it so much I felt they deserved more of my money and I honestly think they deserve more. That's how much I loved my experience.

Every race in Kandagawa Jet Girls starts with you leaving everyone behind on the starting line and then never seeing them again. The single player mode might as well just be Time Attack. :lol
What was released was apparently not what they intended the game to be- Sony's policy changes forced them to leave a bunch of stuff out. Originally there was going to be a much bigger focus on the watergun combat (with exploding clothes, of course).
Supposedly some of the later character stories get more difficult, but I haven't gotten that far yet.

To be completely honest, I thought that the growth of Ryza’s thighs was a supposed belief exaggerated for comedic effect, but when seeing her appearances compared right next to each other like this, you can undeniably see that her thighs in the third entry are the biggest they have ever been. In fact, I went through all 17 pages in intimate detail to make sure I didn't miss out on anyone who might have posted in this thread a long time ago and escaped my judgement.

I finished Kara no Shoujo. It was one of the better VNs I've played, but I still don't really like VNs that much. I like the puzzle/mystery ones like Ace Attorney and Zero Escape, but the ones that are just all talky and figure out the cryptic flags to advance, I just don't really do well with. I was hoping this would be more like the former ones, but the amount of times you use your detective skills are pretty limited. There are a few where you have to select a possible suspect based on the evidence you've been given, and those are usually really easy if you're even half-way awake. Like one where you have to accuse a doctor, but there are only four doctors that you know and one of them has already been arrested for something else and one of them is a woman and you know the perp is a male, so it's basically 50-50 even if you're asleep. The worst though are the investigation scenes. There will basically be 5 or 6 hot spots that you can click on and have your guy deduce something, but in most of them, you have to click the hotspots in the right order, or the scene ends prematurely without you finding some crucial evidence, locking you into a bad end path! ::) Like, you have to click on the small bookshelf, then click on the large bookshelf, then click on the large bookshelf again to find some crucial clue. For God's sake, don't click on the large bookshelf first, then click on the small bookshelf, or else the scene abruptly ends and you discover two hours later that you were playing on a bad end path when your character is brutally murdered. ::)
I ended up using a guide for most of the game, fuck it. I don't have the patience for this type of "gameplay". The plot is pretty good, if you're looking for something fucked up and pretty depressing. Just to give you an idea of how depressing this game is, in order to get a "Good" ending, you have to let someone get murdered. Not your character, but you the player have to take certain actions that will avoid your character being able to save a person's life in order to get the "Good" end.spoiler (click to show/hide)During the game, a girl gets hit by a car and paralyzed, and has to have all her limbs amputated to save her life. That's pretty messed up and there's nothing you can do to stop that, but of course it gets worse. She gets kidnapped by some psycho who wants to use her as a living art installation. In one of the bad endings, the killer gets killed by his own father and you recover the girl still alive and return her to the hospital. In all of the Good endings and even the True final end, the killer escapes justice with the girl's corpse and neither are ever found. Oh btw, this girl is basically your canonical girlfriend. :doge Although you can get close to and have sex with around a dozen women and you're never really officially dating any of them, there are the most scenes with her and her route leads to the true ending. The true ending where she's hit by a car, then murdered, then has her corpse absconded with by an insane murderer.
BTW, although one insane murderer gets away, there are multiple insane murderers in this game, and the good endings do lead to you do bringing down the "Big Bad" who has haunted you for years. So...yay?[close]
