I just googled these and :kobeyuckspoiler (click to show/hide)I think I may have sold you on them, enjoy your pink jerseys with stars on them.[close]
if i'm going to dap up a cac team, it at least better look fresh.
Why do you even like AC Milan? Only people i know who love them tend to love the Italian national team as well.
as far as euro teams we'll have to see. I might fuck with Juventus because that name is epic :whewJuventus are also convicted cheats
Join us in the Arsenal cult, Himu. It's just like being a WWE fan: memories of glory in the early 00's, exciting developmental talent, and a perennial cycle of delusional optimism and inevitable disappointment!

Is it a coincidence that Arsenal wins when I jump on the bandwagon? I think not. My presence inspires Ws, surely :rejoice

Jump on the Dortmund bandwagon while youRe at it and make em win if you're such a lucky charm. Bayern looks a bit better this first half, excited to see how the yellow ones will react!
I was planning on it!
I really like the Atl. Madrid home kits. I think USA should rip them off.
Atlético had no endurance :goty
Really want STL to have an MLS team, especially since we seem to have a prominent place in US soccer history. Will tune in for Sporting Kansas City until then, because Missouri.
Friendlies are coming over this summer. Lots of EPL clubs touring in July. If you live near a place that has a upcoming match, go and tell us how it was!

Spurs > Arsenal. This is sad to read.
Arsenal hasn't been a team worth keeping even a small glance on since the Henry and Bergkemp days. Spurs at least play entertaining games.
If Biz goes Spurs he will be batting against most of the Bore's soccer thread (arsenal fans).Eh, as a foreign Arsenal fan, the inter city rivalry doesnt mean shit to me. To me I get hyped when we play Man U (cause most of the fucks I know are Man U fans and I love rubbing it in their face when they lose to us) and Liverpool (because my brother and father supports this failure of a team, and I like torturing them)
Transfer news is absolutely convoluted and crazy. Trying to get a bead on any of it is probably impossible and a waste of time. Reminds me of the NBA.This is the best way to follow it

If you're a fan of another team in La Liga you just accept that you won't win the league unless your team does some 2008 financial crisis shit on the books and implodes financially down the road or hope for a Copa del Rey final or Champions League appearance.
Watching Athletic in the Champions League this coming season is going to rule.
How could you fuck with Real Madrid or Barca, these bastards are loading up their roster like the Heat :holeupLuckily, especially in the case of Real, they often have personality clashes and refuse to play as a team properly and implode. I much prefer Barca, they at least tend to get players that work with their play style (the best play style in the world imo) while Real sign people like Beckham, Bale and the like not because they fit, but because they sell shirts and stuff. (not to take anything away from their talent). Real is a clown's football team. Best to avoid.
I much prefer Barca, they at least tend to get players that work with their play style (the best play style in the world imo)
It depends on the long term vision. tika taka takes a lot from total football, and so does the style Arsenal plays, from viewing its immediately evident they both share common ancestry but is also very different in execution and function. It's not something any club can pull off though, from memory only Ajax, Arsenal and Barcelona has ever so beautifully played a total derivative (and thats due to long term coaching, no one doing this without at least a decade with a team)
the last Real team i liked had Guti, Hierro, Zidane, Figo, Raul. There was an actual team there + crazy amounts of skill in the midfield
This is absolutely beautiful. Reminds me of the Spurs' offense with a lot of quick ball movement and give and go action. As a total soccer pleb, can anyone direct me to where I can read up about play styles/player archetypes and the general landscape of the game today?I much prefer Barca, they at least tend to get players that work with their play style (the best play style in the world imo)

tiki-taka seems like Bernard Hopkins or Mayweather, can be really awesome and technical but depending on the opponent/user it seems like it can be reaaally negative and boring. It's like a super glorified game of keep away :lolYou don't necessarily have to drop too much with age playing that style of football. It's not like in England or Africa where the tempo is so high that you look like a fossil by 32. Continentals get to play till they are older specifically cause their styles arent England dumb.Spain's still my favorite national team, I know they can play that style well, something really fucked up has been going on with them for about two years though. I blame the racist idiot coachI mean, aren't they kind of all old? It seems like Xavi was the key to that plan and now he's :flabbypd a bit

Real Madrid is the Yankees of soccer. It's like the team that every soccer player would want to play for. Easily the most prestigious club, in my opinion.

I'll be at the game.
Went and saw my local USL Pro team play. Was worried I wouldn't be entertained after a month of world class soccer, but I was pleasantly surprised. Neither team looked too bad out there. They were probably on the level of at least the Brazil national team.

Watching a replay of Jose vs. DC United now and Wondolowski just scored one from outside the box
Made me so salty :rofl :'(
Khedira probably going to Arsenal or Chelsea. Wenger seems to be willing to spend a lot of money this year. I thought they were a fiscally conservative club?
They'd been saddled with a lot of debt due to self-funding Emirates. This, we've been playing the long game for a while now. I'm okay with this. Rather setup the team to be financially successful for the long run than glory hunt in the short. That and Arsene gave me the invincibles, thats enough to keep me for another decade lol
Anyone have any tips for dribbling a soccer a ball? It's pretty hard. I can do stuff with my feet, but I always seem to kick it too far when trying to dribble.Dribbling as in slalom between players? My coach always had me zig zag through safety cones placed increasingly closer to each other, you develop a nice sense of touch that way.
These Seattle fans are shocking me. They have a crazy fan culture over there for real. Seems weird watching Americans do the whole soccer thing with the chants.
These Portland jerseys are pretty awful
Sounders look good for sure. You might just win the shield and cup eh?
Which MLS team can I support to piss off the majority of people here?
Which MLS team can I support to piss off the majority of people here?
Sounds like targeting Mandark is going to give me the most joy here.
Well you can support the Timbers to rustle Mr. Gundams jimmies. I get the feeling Mandark is a DC united fan so you could support the NY Red Bulls, who also seem to rustle jimmies across the net and receive many accusations of frauding.
I may support Sporting KC but I'm holding out to see if St Louis gets an MLS team but if i didn't you could rustle my jimmies by supporting the Houston Dynamo, who Himu likely support.
The thing I wish most from American soccer is that in had promotion/relegation. No matter how much I support my local USL Pro team they will never be MLS (or even NASL). Kind of a bummer. Good thing I love OKC and will support whatever soccer we have here regardless. These guys playing here are from all over the country and came to OKC to play soccer professionally—you've got to respect that.
On a side note, one thing that really bothers me is our local hooligans. My tickets are in the "fan zone" behind the north goal. These guys play drums the whole match and sing songs which is great. What's not great is the fact that they spend the rest of their time heckling the visiting team. It's not friendly heckling either—it's stuff like, "hickory dickoroy dock, the yellow team can suck my cock." I'm glad they're so passionate but OKC is supposed to be an exceedingly friendly town (our Thunder fans are not like that). This isn't the kind of image we should be projecting to UPL Pro. We're not Pittsburg! What makes me even more mad is the hooligans are basically fat reddit-looking nerds. They would never in their lives say the kind of things they're saying to our visiting teams to anyone on the street—especially athletes. It bothers me a lot. I'd like to figure out a way to reverse this trend within our fans.

EPL interests me more than La Liga. La Liga is too lopsided in power.
Feel free to correct this because I think I might be wrong, but I think in the amount of time the Prem has existed the same number of teams have won La Liga as have won the Prem (5).
Unless your team financially dopes or plays in the Bundesliga, it's not going to win its league unless it's one of a handful of powerful clubs.
Sure. But look at the past ten years of premiership champions versus la Liga.

There's a tension between integrating with worldwide football and paying homage to our own football history. Many MLS names are old NASL names which is one of the 2 apexes in the sport's history here, so while they seem just "American," they're our history. (Timbers, Whitecaps, Sounders, Quakes OTTOMH)
I think having a mix of both is part of the charm of MLS, though we could really do without poseur names like Real Salt Lake or Chivas USA (which is thankfully going away).
Then drop this whole college sports bonanza about football and just let kids play football like they do everywhere.
I'm talking about this play college sports thing while their peers are playing Champions League in Europe.
Whats the point.
And just being happy with the name soccer screams that football can never be number 1 in America, but in my heart I know it can because it is the best sport.
Ah, the first years of MLS. Game clocks running down from 45:00, fields with American football hashes, those funky hockey-style shoot-outs where you dribbled the ball from further out.
But I'm a DC United fan, so of course I'm going to be nostalgic for the 90's.

Besides, there's no "wasted away superstars that can still pick apart pathetic defenses" dynamic in the irrelevant tiers of English football. :american
edit ; nvm
But that whole brush is too broad. If you were around in the Bad Old Days you'd know that MLS 1.0 consisted of a bunch of smaller eras. Here are a few:
"Geez, these stadiums are full" (1996)
"Geez, these stadiums are empty" (1997-2001)
"Oh crap, we're contracting" (2001-2002)
"Name a franchise after a Mexican team? I guess that could work" (2004-2005)
So unbalanced as a team. Although this could be said about lst years team as well and they won the CL so what the fuck do I know. Also 80 Million feel like way too much for James.Real has never been an actual team though. They're a group of shirt selling names.
I feel like you can tell the author is a bit of an Arsenal stan though, he keeps sucking Wenger off for his sustainability practices. That's not really it. Arsenal are one of the very few teams that are sensible and successful. ManU used to have a decent academy, but thats all gone to shit.

Yeah, he'll likely be benched during the season though, but we will see. I'm thinking they liked what they saw during his short stint at the cup.
What's going on? Does Mourinho not rate him? Is there a personal conflict?
So Arsenal's the only team to lose to an MLS team this preseason :whew :lol

all that money and Real Madrid lost to Roma? (http://i.minus.com/jkVR9Z5EzbNFK.png)
Cause they lost in an international friendly to an MLS team? It's not like their best players were on the field lol
German U19 just won the European Championship, the new talents are coming.
Anybody here going to watch the Bayern Munich vs MLS All Star team match next week?
yeah that's fucking crazy and the average ticket price was $386.32 and started at $107.
yeah that's fucking crazy and the average ticket price was $386.32 and started at $107.
Average price was fuckin 400$?? And there is this turnout? I mean, Real vs MAnU is probably the perfect pairing for an international viewership, but that's still insane, especially for the US. Bundesliga games start at 20$ for standing placess and 35$ for seats (which is cheaper than the other big leagues, but I can't imagine that those reach the average of this game).
lots of radio chatter about a Premier League club moving to US or Qatar in the next X years because "then they could sell out to huge crowds each week" .... um.... okay.
Germany won the World Cup > Bayern is Germany's best team > MLS All Star's are the best club the MLS could make > the MLS is the best league in the United States, so beating Bayern Munich = United States winning the World Cup.
Why the fuck are the Sounders popular outside the NW?

Agreed on Sounders hate
It's not just guardiola either, but the whole club looked like assholes and unsportsmanlike. I just couldn't respect it, and I've been cheering for Bayern for a while now. May have to root against them now. I don't think it's stanning because I sure as fuck can't watch bundes but I do or did enjoy the club at champions league. I'll be rooting against them full stop now.
I wouldn't say I have any allegiance to Bayern. Being a fan of and being a die hard are completely different things. Germany is across the ocean. What allegiance could I possibly have?
code me. i've got my glory/hipster/bandwagon picks all ready.
Check your PM's.
What do you guys think of Liverpool this season? Seems like they're going to face some struggles without Suarez, lots of injuries.
You could try Pelle for 7,5 mil
Ill try to play 3-5-2 with a shit bench so nobody better get injured
Sanchez is more then fabregas because -you will see this season- :)
Just got home from a ten mile run while listening to the game. Took some time, but Sounders finally put this one away. Houston was in control in the first half, was worried for a while...
Bayern to win the CL, heard it here first. :-*

I'll be here bitching all the time.
Well guys, I'm going to see Sporting Kansas City vs. Toronto FC live this week.
:leon
RvP is a waste of money I think, but who knows maybe lvG will make him play good again.
I mean, I don't feel particularly sunshine and daisies when I see Lukaku in my front three, but it is what it is.
Also, I find it lame that there dont seem to be many great forwards in the 8-9 million pound range. You have the ubermenschen at 10.5 mill and up, but underneath that it's a strange mix of over and undervaluation. Midfielders appear to be paid more sensibly.
I'll go with Rooney but it's hard not to instantly recoil at seeing Rooney's name.
Speaking of which, why are the Spurs so universally clowned upon? It's almost relentless, tbh.

Everyone on the internet is a Gooner and thinks we give a shit about their local derby.
Watching Man U vs. Valencia. United looking pretty mediocre tbqh. Might have to take Rooney off and replace him with Jovetic or Giroud.

well, for a start if you're going to be a disgusting gooner with a packed midfield, you gotta find room for ramsey.
I'm also on the fence with Caulker. I could easily sacrifice Terry for Felipe Luis and Baines for Caulker. I like Ward in the back, he's probably my only real risk taken besides my GKs, but what can you do.
I think I'm fairly satisfied with what I have on there now, but i have a terrible need to sacrifice some of my overall balance for glory hunting peen wish fulfillment by throwing on Rooney and Costa upfront at the same time, or replacing Fabregas with Hazard.
:lawd the urge... Overall using one of the West Ham midfielders is something i've been toying with too since they come so damn cheap.
Why are all you sluts using Diego Costa, it's like you guys were trapped in an ISIS training camp this summer
Great keeper? Cech.
I'd wait on Bony 2012 until we're sure he's not just another Amr Zaki.
I'm a huuuuuuuuuuuuge Dzeko stan and I wouldn't pick him.
Fair enough. taking a lot out of your midfield eh? tbh, there are some really solid bargain picks there, more so than at striker so that makes sense.

Probably the last night I can tinker with my Fantasy team :lawd
The choices I'm presented with here are a bit agonizing. Now that I'm comfortable with Rooney and Costa up front, I'm tinkering around with my midfield.
Couple questions:
Sigurdsson or Noble? Two budget midfielders, not sure about the potential.
Eriksen or Nasri or Mata? Just dying over this one. I think Eriksen has pretty incredible value but I could well go for Nasri as well, yet I'm a little hesitant to go for Man City midfielders now due to how much they rotate.
:yeshrug
in that case.... :yeshrug
Probably nearing the end here.

Burnley have heart - but Chelsea are twats. Annoying twats at that.
Hmmm - i realise that i've been to more Chelsea home games than the majority of gobshite "Suddenly remembered i support chelsea" turdpeople i happen to know of in Japan who "support Chelsea"
then again - most of them are gobshite England fans who brag about going to the pub to watch England and not, you know, going to foreign countries to watch England. I -hate- International football and have still managed two world cups and three euros.
Tsk tsk part time gobshite football fans from England. Stop trying, you look sad ;) (no one on here)

Watching my first Champions League game today. Seems kind of insane to have a CL schedule and a domestic league schedule to play out and try to win both.
Waddya mean first game? Like ever?
This is only the qualifiers.
Arsenal game is really good, fast paced and open. Ba had some great chances for Besiktas.
Well, of my own volition. I suppose my buddies used to have the CL on sometimes after classes in the dorms, but I wasn't really paying attention.
to go the distance in europe, you essentially need 1 1/2 world class first XIs. squad depth is no longer a luxury.
That kinda sucks ass. Especially for the players and for the fantasy game :gloomy
I guess it's an EXTREME rarity to win your domestic league and the CL, eh?
Watching the spanish Supercopa and i have to admit:
Gareth Bale is absolutely amazing. Can't blame him but you have to wonder what an England squad captained by him would be like.
While I'd love nothing more than to see English clubs full of shit kicking Englishmen who couldn't cross the street let alone a football, surely there's a way to preserve the local character of clubs without robbing players of their freedom of association, which is what football was pre-Bosman.
Fantastic result for Athletic today, draw and an away goal. :hyper
Just FYI so you know how the Bosman ruling ruined football:
95 CL final was Ajax vs AC Milan
Ajax had 9 dutch players on the pitch, Milan had 9 Italian players on the pitch
2006 CL final was Barcelona vs Arsenal
Barcelona had 3 Spanish players on the pitch, Arsenal had 2 English on the pitch
In 10 years football went from being about club teams with a national identity and culture to corporations where more money is the major factor
We will never stand a chance again because of this EU ruling
It just pains me to no end that Ajax has a smaller budget then all the shite teams in the PL
Any ideas of how to do this?
Also if players can play where they want because of freedom of labour, why cant clubs play in another league? Freedom of capital etc.
It just pains me to no end that Ajax has a smaller budget then all the shite teams in the PL
I don't disagree with your general point but that a bit selective. For example in the cl final 2013 Bayern vs Dortmund Bayern had 6 german players and Dortmund had 7. Ajax in 95 also was a really young team, just an incredible generation. Not impossible to repeat that, just not very likely. Admittedly, the big clubs sign even younger players than before.
Crazy thing is, even the worst team in the PL has higher tv earnings (talking about earnings from the national divison) than the highest earning Bundesliga team. PL is just an absolute money making machine.
At the end of the day Ajax will still probably be a loser just because of where it's located, but at least it'll be losing to clubs that earn it instead of mid-table mediocrity suckling on television contracts they didn't earn and clubs that are leveraged so much you need a beverage to believe their balance sheet.
Other pipe dreams: prohibition of television contracts negotiated on a leaguewide basis, stricter rules about government subsidies (why does the Basque regional government sponsor Athletic sometimes?) and draconian debt rules (of the Bundesliga's type) forced on everyone by UEFA. It's easy to decimate feeder clubs when you don't have to exist in financial reality.
despite being a black italian guy, balotelli could never hide that he was always a scouser at heart.
Interesting. Liverpool in 6th though? Looking much better than Utd, and about as good as Arsenal tbh.
Newcastle doing exactly what I need them to do; not get scored on immensely.
Can't believe I was thinking of puttting Cabella or Riviere on my PL team at one point. They're wack.
Ajax lost at home, first loss in the league since november 2013.
Great game against PSV that went back to back for 90 minutes.
I feel like we should have won but alas.
Real talk all the La Liga games I watched today were better than the Prem.
Especially since Caulker /QPR is so shit
:bow Flying to London next month for a day of watching games in the pub with old mates from Ireland :bow2
Gooo Gunners!

Liked something MK Dons related
good for arsenal :rejoice
really hope they get a defensive midfielder in this transfer period though :holeup
Congrats Karakand! Bilbao!
Serie A stays losing, on the other hand. Kinda sad.
Costa apparently out for 6 weeks? I seeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Such a weak troll, uk never had a manager as good as van gaal
Please
Van Gaal won the CL with two different clubs, the league in 3 different countries (with different teams even) AND got to the semis at the world cup.
Only one on that list with something close to him is Fergie, but he has had a 10+ year longer career. Never coached national either.
You're a good man, but this is a typical case of the English thinking they are better then they are, like with the national side
Yeah I mean domestic, maybe I should have said England instead of UK
Where Man U is now is Fergie's fault mostly.
Any summary of what happened so far?
QPR and Hull had some good pickups, Man Utd copped Falcao on a year loan, Arsenal signed Danny Welbeck from Utd.
NEVERMIND, they lost horribly anyway. What else is new?I said take it down. What's the point if there are only 3 people posting in it, mostly me on top of that. Biz quit the internet, Himu stopped watching, Momo stopped posting. Only people posting are me, DC, and occasionally headwalk and Lager.
Where'd the sticky go?
Anyway the US won today! :rejoice
A squad of our ragged b team eredivisie, championship and bundesliga boys U 21 won over the Czech first team and looked very good in the first half.
Gyau did well, lots of hustle. Rimando had a class 2nd half, making a case to maybe be that goalkeeper in 2018. Bedoya had a decent goal. Mix Diskerud, Emerson Hyndman and Julian Green had good, if inconsistent games. Class of the night was Fabian Johnson. He'll be that guy by 2018.
no wonder you're shitting on the MLS, FC Dallas :trash :pacspit I can't fuck with someone that isnt a fan of our domestic league. whats the point of just fucking with teams you have to pay 1000$ to see a million miles away.:yeshrug I'll be able to watch more live games of an BPL team than my local team. I mean I'll still support FC Dallas and I'll root for former players to do well in Europe, but the quality of play is much better in Europe and more entertaining to me.
Honestly none of the best teams are able to keep most of their good players unless you're City, Chelsea, United, Real or Barca. Even Bayern who have plenty of $$ sell off players to Real.
i know this might be presumptuous, but it's definitely coming home.
I dont follow here. The world cup? Some nice play today for sure. Delph had some beautiful passing, Welbeck's scores, Sterling. Sturridge doesn't seem to be panning out in the overt way that people wished, but he's still so young.
You guys need to play someone else besides Jack Wilshere in the DM position, for sure.
Hey, who knows. By 2018 maybe there won't be this forced need to play Rooney where he is. He had that one great pass but some of his touches today were pretty awful :holeup
Here's how shit the English media are
Tomorrow's headlines are going to comment on how the first goal came off Welbecks shin and he probably didn't mean it and he miss-kicked and blah'de-fucking-blah
Listening to journos on the radio literally say "if we lost then we'd have called for Hodge to be sacked but we won and , hey, this is all just a bit of fun and laughs and lols whilst we insinuate we were very lucky to win the game (insinuating that a shinned effort was a lucky strike) and , whilst defeats are entirely Hodge's fault, he has nothing to do with the victories"
For all my disagreement with English setup, the press writers are largely a shameful pack of wankers who know nothing about football but want to run the game. No matter what happens they always ahve the counter argument of "we should have done it THIS WAY" - it's bullshit.
Euro qualifier tonight. Rooting against England.
The problem is that all these central american Latino countries got ethnic beefs and club history and shit so they ride hard when it's time to play but Americans are just like :yeshrug , fuck Mexico I guess
Jesus christ man, the NASL being incompetent as fuck and setting the game back to the stone age here really was a disaster. They were so damn bad at growing the sport here sensibly :neogaf . Our actual soccer culture had to go through a near reset thanks to those bums :beli
Yeah. Lucky i only have three questionables. Costa, Dier, and Ramsey. I traded that wasteman Martin Skrtel a while back, so i luckily missed out on some more grief. Still not sure if i should play around with my lineup. Last time I did i missed out on two Costa goals as a captain.
I picked up Naismith last week. Just seems to perform well. It's funny how Everton has a better strikeforce than Manchester United or Arsenal, low key.
Too bad Arsenal-City is early as fuck. 6:45 AM (http://i.minus.com/jXHwE6TPzh4jR.png)
One of my college roommates/best friends is a life long stan. Dude made his international pilgrimage to anfield and everything. I'm considering giving him a bit of troll but i'm not sure if he's killed himself by now
:lawd
Hahahaha
I just checked the front page of Marca English and it's like literally every single article is about Casillas or some Ancelotti/Madrid hand wringing. Hilarious.

this bayern-city game is great so far.
I bet Karakand is excited :hitler being a city stan and all
By the way, congratulations Mr. Gundam for the Sounders winning the MLS Open cup. Well done.

SMH. I hope you guys are similarly :umad at the Prem and Serie A logos which also incorporate nationalist imagery.
The way that the badge is a symbol for the US and the corresponding team perfectly fits the 'club/country' duality.
Gonna be annoying when the sport keeps growing we have like 36 teams in the league :what
He's a distinguished mentally-challenged fellow who plays 3-5-2. This squad he has literally won the title by 11 points two years ago.
Ill also never forget this one
City, biggest joke in Europe :lol :lol :lol
Methodis biggest joke on the Bore :lol :lol :lol
(http://pu.i.wp.pl/k,MzQ0NjcyNzcsMzQyMTI2,f,full_stadion.jpg)
Spartak Moscow has a bigger budget then Ajax
Lech Poznan has 10% of City's budget
City still the worst team CONFIRMED
Let me save watching that for after City - Chelsea
Face it, City is a shit team and will never amount to anything, because they lack club culture. You can pour billions into it and its still just a bunch of losers.
Who's your club, headwalk?
i didnt tape it but honestly I'm :mindblown at how Everton managed to lose to Crystal Palace at Goodison
Yeah, i'm enjoying the rap-tinted fuckery of the coli football/soccer thread but I could really use a different board besides GAF's footy thread. I don't hate it and i post in it but it's just overflowing with United stains, personal talk, and gossip bits. R/soccer on the other hand is too visually dry and polite.
footballthread?
FUCK DALLAS
FUCK DALLAS
Houston's inferiority complex towards Dallas :noah
edit: and Gals with the same amount of points. :pacspit kara
I heard Ronaldo scored two hat tricks in three days. I know a lot of Man U fans really think he's going to finish his career over there Lebron style but I see no reason how or why he would, apart from some personal feelings. Guy has been a fucking machine since he healed up from whatever plagued him in the WC.
I was busy tonight. How'd those fucks Dallas give Sounders the work?
Honestly the beat schedules are on google. I literally just Google a league, team.
This works for everything except the CONCACAF CL :fbm
Liverpool have no sturridge tomorrow. ..
Game over lol. Sterling played 120 minutes this week already. Comfortable everton win imo
I've been told the eurogamer review sums up what's wrong with it pretty well:
http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2014-09-23-fifa-15-review

plucky underdogs man united have to take points wherever they can find them
We beat the mighty West Ham, the fear factor is back lads.
ffs west ham
you had one job
hanging on for dear life AT old trafford against west fucking ham, jesus christ united
In a way it's all good because this narrow win has gassed the fanbase all up again only to get decimated when they run into tottenham or everton.
Sorry for the loss. Sakho in particular dicked it up for you guys a couple times that i remember.
sorry mates. we were missing half of our midfield, one of which is our team's beating heart and the other is a beautiful galloping gazelle who just seems to absorb possession. still had a good run at it and united are lucky to come away with anything, let alone all three points.
put our full first XI vs. theirs and we'd have walked it. probably would've rather been up against blackett and smalling to be honest.
Brazil Vs. Netherlands 1998 was also game of the tournament.
Kaka is getting 5.3 million us a year in the mls...

good series of posts :obama
Thanks, soccer is one of my favorite things that I'm very knowledgeable about. Yet never had a good outlet for it online cause most community sites for it sucks. So yeah, I really like this thread.
Goal.com sucks, but they're like the only site I know of that covers the leagues I follow in english.
Gonna be honest, I don't really think I enjoy watching Bayern or City.
The former playing that tiki taka lite style. Not a fan really. I like watching Muller's onside creep and his mastery of space (btw it's amazing how good he is vs. his total lack of grace/aesthetics), but the rest? :yeshrug Lahm is also interesting to watch, but it's a subtle fun. I wonder what'll happen re: Gotze and Ribery.
City are just kind of boring. Feels like they win most of their matches on individual talent and being more physical than the competition. Rarely see any passing play i like, or dribbling/duels I enjoy. just feels like mano a mano they have better and bigger men than the other side and strikers who are really really good at exploiting the chances they get.

DL Fifa 15 demo on origin, can't play it. GOD. I do NOT want to hook up a console for this fucking shit.
That bad? The demo wasn't terrible on intermediate. But reading reader reviews...
Why isn't Van Persie the captain? Thoughts on that Courage?Probably due to Rooney's history with the club. Believe it or not, a lot of stanleys still love the guy
Can you please go over the history of the captain position at United? I'd love hearing about it. Love some soccer history.
Thank God we are past the days of baggy long shirts and shorts. :kobeyuck

As for the captain position, I have to admittedly say Rooney isn't the first cunt to be one. Two of our biggest captains were hilarious scumbags. Cantona kung fu kicked a supporter (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wo2aUfwPQvs) and Roy Keane was a douchebag during interviews (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RkissZxl5hA). The difference is that both of these guys were iconic players with consistent performances, whether it be Keane's hypnotic passing or Cantona's knack for goalscoring. I don't know if Rooney will ever reach that level, as a goalscorer or a playmaker.
If you're a minnow / mid-table mediocrity supporter you probably shouldn't count on loyalty either. Anyone good goes to greener pastures.
Regarding Rooney
His red card is possibly going to save United's season
Van Gaal is about to realise that Shrek , whilst covering a lot of ground and busting his arse every game, is causing disruption to his plans.
Now he's going to -have- to play a different set of players - and it might just be that the penny drops that they're better off having a Mata, Di Maria, Van P, etc leading the line and the upper mid than rooney.
:bow Eric Cantona :bow2
yeah, Cantona was incredible. And i loved the way he gave no sh1ts.
:bow Matt Le Tiss :bow2 as well. Still the most exciting player i've seen and someone if you met on the street you'd think "that lump? naa, he probably can't even kick a ball"
to be fair, le tiss made a legend of himself despite never having to break out of his light florida pensioner jog.
All this shit I hear over the women's World Cup and its conditions.

Going to the final Dynamo home game of season: the Fan Appreciation Night. Haven't been since...2012 or so? Spending 120 bucks on sideline tickets for the whole family. That's quite a ticket price increase for three tickets, but fan appreciation night is always popular. It'll be against the Revolution so we're likely losing, but that won't stop us from partying.

Everton drawing 1-1 with an aggressive Russian side in Europa. Probably United have a good chance against them this weekend. I might even get up early to watch that shit :ohhh
Lots of injuries for the toffees too last time i checked. Might be Falcaos chance to get his first goal eh? :hitler
I don't think Everton, Manchester United, or Krasnodar are bad teams at all. The later especially, people in the russian league seem to have high esteem for and in the game I was watching showed off some nice pressing.
I think United and Everton is probably the most exciting matchup this weekend truth be told. Some people would say gunners vs chelsea but its 'obvious' whats going to happen there. This match is a good barometer for how United's new personnel are really going to pan out against a big challenge, and see exactly where the two fall in ranks in the 4-6 spots in the PL
cause right now it looks like this in terms of team quality for me:
1. Chelsea
2. City
3. Arsenal
and then after that its a bunch of teams vying for dominance: lolerpool, spurs, everton, southampton, man u, swansea, west ham etc

I'm guessing Chelsea and Arsenal will draw.
I'm curious how United will perform without Rooney and see how Van Gaal switches the club around to fit his ideal.
The Europa league is a joke league, even DCharlie will tell you. No one takes it seriously and never will. It's just another excuse for UEFA to make more money off of arabs.
Also United aren't in it, good job rag.
Anyways, someone talk me out of being an Arsenal fan. It seems Arsenal has the biggest American fanbase in the PL. Why? Esch, talk me out of it.
it can't be anyone too successful because you'll be a bandwagoner, so out goes chelsea and citeh.
it can't be anyone too midtable or you'll never get your posts upvoted on reddit so out goes everyone who finished below 8th.
it can't be arsenal because they are the post-modern internet equivalent of man united.
it can't be spurs because you fucking hate tottenham even though you've never been to london.
it can't be liverpool because the only thing worse than being a bandwagoner is being a doomed bandwagoner and you'll become a humourless whining scouser signing posts off with YNWA.
it can't be everton because you can't be another american supporting everton after the world cup, especially since the secretary of defence has given the nuclear codes to every team that turns up at goodison park.
it can't be southampton because they were everyone's hipster team last year and the only thing worse than being a hipster is being an out of date hipster.
it can't be man united because you're not malaysian.
so the answer is nobody. you can't support anybody.
so you might aswell support west ham.
or you know you could not have a team other than one you were born into i dont go around saying i have a german team or a us teamWouldn't be too exciting for me to talk about my Greek team since they play in the second division. Man U and Roma fill the gaps

Ozil is out for 10-12 weeks with a ligament tear...
(http://i.imgur.com/2sHyXlq.png) Arsenal team doctors and staff must be shit. Or the training. There's no reason why these should be accumulating so many damn injuries every year.
It's a pale of its former glory, but it exists yes.
e: Dude pls don't post the name of the place they're nice enough to host us there and I don't want gatecrashers fucking up their forum.
The place is slowly dying, I'd love new blood. If you PM I'll drop a link.
I just don't want the URL posted on a public forum because it's not just our home and they have open registration (IIRC).
is it any good? seemed to have all the same issues as the GAF thread.
hard to find a quality place on the internet to talk football. i like the tone of SA but it's got that american gaze which drives me up the wall.
Don't believe what people say. Barça didn't do tiki-taka! It's completely made up! Don't believe a word of it! In all team sports, the secret is to overload one side of the pitch so that the opponent must tilt its own defence to cope. You overload on one side and draw them in so that they leave the other side weak.

I'm not too excited for 2018, tbh. Can't imagine playing in Russia is going to be anything but pure shite. Maybe their petroeconomy will collapse by then.

All those Real names were granted by the Spanish Monarchy, and the Owner himself even admitted that he picked the name because he wanted to piggy back off the Real Madrid brand. That partnership didn't even come into affect until well after the franchise was founded. At least NYCFC is legitimate spawn of Man City which makes copying it's kit make sense.
Sturridge out 6 weeks lol. Poor scousers :tocry
I had a chance to watch England and they looked pretty damn good, maybe Wumger will try it with Wilshere in a deeper role and let Ramsey have a go at CAM?
Henderson... :holeup
Esch, when did you start to watch football?I always watched the world cups when my schedule permitted as a kid. I think the first one I watched was... 02? The women's world cups were popular here back then too cuz we'd actually win :lol
Round 2011/2 I started playing in my fraternity rec league at school as a left back. At the time i just wanted to add some cardio to the regime and dick around with my friends. My roommate and one of my best friends at the time was a liverpool diehard so I'd occasionally sit and watch Premier League on shitty FirstRowSports streams. I had little interest in it at the time (overwhelmed with classes). I only started really consistently watching club football and trying to understand the game in the past year and a half since I finally got enough $$ to pay for BeIN and NBCSN got that powerful league package deal.

of course it's hard to dislike city (i do just fine at that though). they have no character.
at least when chelsea went new money they got that genius asshole mourinho to give them a style to run with.

Barca has been disappointing in La Liga lately and it looks like Man City have been finding their form. If Aguero's back in proper condition by then, it could be pretty close.Who does Neymar play for? I think I watched him on saturday but I'm not sure if it was him or not (no volume on tv at the time)
Barcelona
Yup that was him, I don't think it was a live game but DAMN, that guy is like a man among boys out there.
Defense is definitely the problem. Pique has been trash this season. The amazing days of Xavi and Iniesta dominating the distributive game are also long gone. They have a stellar offense, with the rest of the squad not matching up to it.Barca has been disappointing in La Liga lately and it looks like Man City have been finding their form. Yeah, I mean they tied with Getafe on the weekend iirc, have some losses that could have been avoided. Those defensive holes are still there (don't see how else they can fix this one without offloading some loved personnel like Busquets), but they're starting to integrate pretty well in the last third. Like.... Neymar and Messi link up really really well.
Suarez looks a little left out at times but I'm sure his individual quality will show itself.
E: Neymar is a great player but I wouldn't call him a man amongst boys. He's probably la liga's biggest baby, always trying to get that penalty call :heh
Southampton is deader than dead.
Speaking of Reus, I don't think he ends up at Bayern.
Why? Team has a glut of people at those positions. They just don't need a marquee player there atm.
People are saying Chelsea and City, but I have a suspicion that he'll be couped by Manchester United. They could use another high class player like him on the wings and they have the money.
I guess he could always end up at Madrid, just cause they can :yeshrug
http://www.theguardian.com/football/blog/2014/dec/23/india-super-league-fourth-biggest-leagueIn India right now and people were all over that ISL final. This league has real potential unlike that waste league :piss MLS :piss2

West Ham shaving a week off my lifespan with this stress :whew
A great game though. Adrian and chesney both had really good turns in GK, some wonderful passing play.
Penalties everywhere.
I don't really follow pro soccer, so maybe someone can educate me. Has a professional team ever picked up and moved to another city? The same way it has happened in American sports? if so, what is the most famous example of it happening?

AFC eventually got a team again although they hhad to start at like the 10th level of the pyramid and they had open tryouts to fill spots.
ABAHAHA 3-1:rejoice this fuckery

The level of play is bad, it‘s slow as hell, the referees are trash, but it‘s still entertaining. :trumps
Italy getting eliminated from the U21 Euros was bullshit btw.
But there is a reason the Italians have a word for these kind of shenanigans, so I am not too sad about it. :sabu
Neymar will not be allowed to return to his former club Barcelona from PSG until he apologises to the Spanish giants' fans and accepts a cut in his wages. (El Mundo - in Spanish)
are you babies not watching the women's championship?Yeah, I watched it. Great game from a neutral perspective, but I wasn't a neutral and it felt shit.

https://twitter.com/oilysailor/status/1173286882089848832You wanna borrow Steve Bruce from us?
Fuck me, still a whole season of this shit left to go through. Honestly one of the worst managers in the game.
You wanna borrow Steve Bruce from us?The way we are playing I'd take even Pulis. Has Brucey been that bad for you guys? It's still early days, but having already played 3 out of top 6 the results don't seem too bad thanks to the win against Spurs.
Moral dilemma time.imagine being exactly what we all used to call Chelski fans
According to news reports, the Saudi Arabia Public Investment Fund, which apparently has direct links to Mohammed bin Salman himself, is about to buy Newcastle United. This could potentially make us one of the richest clubs in the world and give us the opportunity to truly compete for silverware.
My dilemma is that the thought of supporting a club owned by one of the most evil regimes/people in the world leaves a really bad taste in my mouth and I don't know if I can do that without compromising my personal moral code. On the other hand, I've supported Newcastle for more than 20 years through thick and thin and would love to see us compete again.
How would you feel in my situation? Is it possible to separate club and owners? Am I overthinking this?
Thanks for buying Jack West Ham :lol
I decided Manchester City was going to be my EPL team and now they've...
won the cup so now i'll look like a goddamn bandwagoning fuck

This is what real football looks like kids, not that eurotrash they play in Europe

The EFL cancelling the season and stopping Liverpool from winning the league would be just perfect :deliciousAfter all the LiVARpool shit this season, it's unlikely that they won't just award them the league anyway.
Euro 2020 is now Euro 2021. It's been real brehsWeren't they planning on hosting this one in like a million different countries?

Finally euro crap is over so we can focus on AMERICAN SOCCER
Messi not going to re-sign at Barca!
Let the transfer fuckery begin!!!!!
We're witnessing the absolute dismantling of Barcelona as a football powerhouse here.
About time if you ask me.I agree. Barca and Madrid have been rorting the system for so long that it's got to parody proportions. Can't wait for Madrid to suffer too now that La Liga is a seriously diminished proposition for sponsors.

My first hope is that our new Dutch overlord gets us playing some entertaining football (signs are encouraging from pre season). It can't be as dire as the last few seasons
Barcelona have endured an indifferent summer transfer window, to say the least. Despite an ongoing squad overhaul in the works, the club have failed to attract any big-name players so far, in light of the financial crisis.
The approval of the sale of 49% BLM and a quarter of the TV rights has offered a glimmer of hope, with the transaction expected to generate up to €800 million in revenue.
However, according to fresh reports from Aficion Deportivo (h/t Barcacentre), Barcelona’s financial woes has no end in sight, with the club apparently owing more than €126 million in transfer fees to various clubs in Europe.
The growing transfer debts are the byproduct of the lavish spending from the previous board led by Josep Maria Bartomeu.
Among other debts, this includes a figure of €29 million being owed to Liverpool for the transfer of Philippe Coutinho. The Brazilian international had joined Barça for a fortune back in 2018, but the club are yet to pay the full fees.
Barcelona also owe around €9 million to Braga for the transfer of Trincao while a figure of €10 million is owed to Bordeaux for Malcom.
Other news outlets have widely speculated that the Catalans also owe money to Bayern Munich for the transfer of Arturo Vidal. The same can be said for Borussia Dortmund, in the case of Ousmane Dembele.
All the debts combined amount to a figure of more than €126 million, owed to 19 different clubs. It puts Barcelona in a perilous position and could serve as a major roadblock in the club’s bid to steer out of their economic woes.
Barcelona are hopeful the sale of BLM and TV rights can help them cut back on losses and repay the debts. But it could come at the expense of a lack of reinforcements in the summer transfer window, which, in turn, could be a major blow for Xavi Hernandez ahead of the new season.
Exactly, it's La Liga, it's not like there's actual competition for the top 4 anyway.
With their young players and a few sensible signings they should've been able to get Champions League pretty easily anyway.
Dani Alves is going to the World Cup!
Literally spat my drink out
