no need to get worried guys, despite all the problems nintendo may have supporting two platforms, I'm sure, positive even, that they will hit the ground running and have zero issues saving the mobile gaming industry from the scourge of bad money-grubbing games.

My pulled out of my ass speculation is that Nintendo bit off way more than they could chew by making this a Skyrim clone. Now that there is a new Nintendo console that will likely get released in late 2016, it gives them an excuse to push the project back another year.

I'm not sure why not. The Wii U, especially the tablet, is a concrete albatross around Nintendo's neck. They'd love nothing more than to move on from the Wii U to something else. Of course a three year console cycle would be a big problem but four years isn't that bad (see: Xbox to 360).

Sure but the funny thing about this is that the final product is still going to be heavily compromised. Nintendo tends to make smaller and tighter games; a Skyrim is something that they're really not that familiar with so I'm not surprised that they have to delay it.

I mean a tight smallish overworld with shortcuts and puzzles that leads to dungeons.

The things Aonuma has been mentioning about Zelda U are an evolution of the major structural change to the linearity (rather, the lack thereof) of dungeons introduced in Link Between Worlds. The rest of the stuff demo'd, going to "anywhere" you see and Epona dodging trees on her own, are more set dressing than a fundamental shift for Zelda.
Majora's Mask was also a fundamental shift but it was clear from the nature of that game it was always going to be a one-off thing (or evolve into its own subseries, like Yoshi's Island.)

NX launch title confirmed. Can't wait to see what half assed gimmick it uses that is exclusive to the system. Text messages from Navi, perhaps.
