It really is. Playing duos last night and I got clipped by a team who had holed up in a set of shipping containers in the second to last circle. My buddy was prone in the grass between a road and the fenced off area where the container was, and the last circle pushed them out. He opened up on them as soon as they came through the fence, and they proceeded to completely shit their pants and try to run back to cover as he mowed them down. Hilarious shit

Duos really is the sweet spot i think. I won a squad game last night, 3 of us lasted until the very end which was a first for me :lol. Which is kinda my problem with squads, fire fighting just so much more dangerous when you have to worry about shit like "okay where are the rest of their mates?" then you kill their squad but you're still like "wait was that the same squad though? Or did i murder some wandering third party?"

The game is toxic. Regardless of how good or bad it is, it's toxic. You can see it in the playerbase. Games like these, which have such a massive punishment for dying and not much of a reward for doing well are generally frustrating and annoy players to death..... But somehow these zero-sum games are also addicting, probably because of the tension, so players who jump in normally stick around for a while. There's value in that sort of game. But it's personally not for me.

I'll tie this all back to the thread...I could see this game ending up quite high on their collective list, maybe winning, and on lots of the lists in general. (I imagine Zelda and Destiny 2 winning the East and West divisions if they stay separate.) For what it's worth: I used to play solo, but after trying out duo and squad, I found soloing waaaay less fun. It is still fun but definitely not the same. Squad is fun too, but some of my friends take it WAY too seriously. They seem to care about winrate and their stats too much. Sure I wanna win but don't yell at teammates to revive you from a surprise shot when they're inside another tall building in Polyana and can't get to you in time. I'm a big fan of duo, it's so much fun! Easier to keep track of things and people. Easier to share loot and get properly geared up as well. I haven't played PUBG in a few days though because my usual duo partner lives in NYC so she's in a different timezone which makes it tough to play together at times. So I end up not playing. Never tried the random matchmaking either, I'm not sure I want to. Maybe I should give it a try today.Ah, ok. Solo is much more challenging since you can't use revive, and you can only rely on yourself. But it's pretty good practice! I have now about 100 hours in the game, where maybe like 90 of them were spent being way too chill in duo. I regret not playing more solo to get better sooner, but at least I'm working on that now. Solo really does help your skills since you're forced into situations, but as for fun, nothing is as good as duo (imo).

huh didnt realize circles randomly choose where to get smallerwith absolutely nothing to back this up outside of watching it in videos as people play so i can keep track of variables non-accessible while in game, i think it may be slightly influenced by player locations before picking a random spot along say a certain angle of it, at ends of rounds where large numbers of players are visible in one location it rarely seems to choose a point that's farthest from the players (from what i've seen, but even random i could watch a million videos and never see it)

The test servers will be up for several days to allow everyone to try out the test build and give feedback.

We have made changes to some mechanics to make them more realistic and balanced. However, all changes are not final and we need your feedback after testing. In addition, this is only the first test build so there will be issues and bugs that have not been fixed yet. But we would like to assure you that we will do our best to address most of those issues when we release 1.0 unless there is a critical roadblock.
Patch notes will be posted early next week but we wanted to explain a little bit about vaulting & climbing today. Action & Gunplay Lead Pawel Smolewski has written a piece about the feature.
Vaulting & Climbing
Crossing and scaling obstacles may intermittently create many new tactical options available to the players. The standard jump feature can be used in standard situations, but there are many areas where it does not suffice. After all, PUBG features a play area of considerable proportions. In addition, objects located on the map differ greatly in shape and size. Such complexity can cause many problems for the players who need to rely on fast and effective means of jumping over (or on top of) boxes, containers, fences etc. For that reason we have decided to implement dynamic vaulting and climbing mechanics.
This feature enables in-game characters to quickly scale obstacles in front of them. Although we initially planned to allow crossing over structures which are up to 1 meter high, we have eventually decided to extend the functionality of the feature by increasing the limit to about 2.3 meters. Almost any static object that meets the dimension criteria can be scaled. Additionally, passing through openings in structures (such as windows) is possible as long as they are wide and tall enough. You may scale almost any static object which is short enough. Objects which are chest level high can be scaled with a weapon in hand. Taller structures that require pulling up to vault need to be performed with both hands free of any items (they will be holstered automatically when animation is played). Running towards the obstacle will generate momentum that will ensure faster motion. Performing the action from stationary position is also possible but the animation played will be slower, leaving players vulnerable for a longer period of time.
On the technical side the system consists of about 40 animations adjusted for different heights and situations. We internally use the term vaulting to describe the action that involves crossing over an obstacle while climbing refers to a motion that will cause the character to remain on top of it. By default control over vaulting and climbing is placed on the same key as jump and is context based. However, we do provide the players with a possibility of splitting the jump and vaulting actions to separate key-bindings in the controls section of in-game settings. When attempting to vault, the geometry of the objects in front of the character is scanned and an algorithm decides whether vaulting action can be performed and what type of animation can be used to get across or on top of it. Climbing will be preferred whenever there is enough space for the character to stand up. However, vaulting can be enforced by holding sprint button while moving – if the obstacle is thin enough, character will slide or cross over. Motion that involves pulling up can be cancelled before reaching the apex by starting to move in the opposite direction.
Due to the nature of this system, we expect possible issues, bugs and problems to occur. Ironing out this feature may take some more time, but we do hope you will have a lot of fun with it and make great use of it. We are eagerly awaiting your feedback and reports.

Regarding the use of cheats, we will be doing everything we can and use all resources available to detect and impose penalties on users who use cheats. Recently, we have implemented new measures to better identify and track their usage. We have designed reliable systems to do this more efficiently than before.
For a very long time, our development team has been analyzing data from a large pool of users who show abnormal gameplay behavior to build a system that helps us positively identify cheaters. We are now able to use the system to identify and ban these users more proactively. Using this system, we have already identified and banned about 20K additional users in only one day.
This is only a start. On top of BattlEye, we will use a monitoring system to strengthen our efforts to prevent use of cheats and impose penalties on them. We promise you that we will continue to do our best to quickly find and ban people who use cheats. We hope you will start to see an improvement going forward.

On this test build, you will be able to try out vaulting & climbing again and test other features. You will also notice the changes we made to some mechanics to make them more balanced.

Additional vaulting animation for objects with a height of approx. 60 cm or lower (when holding down the Shift key)
Greatly reduced jacket/coat clipping issue when moving in ADS while leaning

Reduced the hit damage for hands and feet and increased the hit damage on thighs and arms.
The healing period for bandages has been reduced to 4.5 seconds from 8.5 seconds. The casting time and the amount of health restored are the same as before.
Players can now parachute and land on certain areas that were not previously accessible, including the outskirts of the island
Added markings for zeroing distances on 15x scope reticle texture
Added new 4x reticle for 7.62mm weapons

Added blur effect on the outside of scopes
Bullets now penetrate water based on the velocity of projectile (the faster the velocity, more shallow the penetration)

- Moved health bars of team member(s) from the top left corner to the bottom left corner
- Changed colors and markings in the mini map, world Map, and team list UI

Improved interaction HUD
- If there is no more room left in the backpack, the font will turn red to show that items cannot be picked up

I dunno about pacifist, since you'll be forced to kill eventually. Once I get around top-10 just going around avoiding cities and things, I basically have to face like 5-8 others (if they don't die to the zone going smaller). Vehicle may be possible, but you can't repair vehicles (currently?) so someone can explode yours if they put enough bullets into it. But you can always find another, I guess...
The name of the game is being a "coward" like Demi calls it and basically camping around the circles it seems. I keep getting popped by people that sit at the barrier edge while I'm trying to move toward the safe-zone that is the new one. I kinda wish they wouldn't allow that sort of thing to happen, but well... :doge
Yeah, I know. But I'm more talking the folks sitting on the edge of the circle (where the safe-zone line used to be) for like 2 minutes before moving to pick off folks (like me) going for the next safe-zone. Why is it that whenever I play on an Asian server I do really well? Do Asians such at PUBGM?Asia is much worse at this game, because they don't play it competitive, I think. When I lived in Japan (only a bit after PUBG came out, before the cheaters) I played there and did way better than when playing on NA/EU (with and without friends). One night we had 4 back to back squad wins and laughed in voice chat about how easy/ridiculous it was. Dunno how different it is now though with all the cheating that happened eventually.
After 16 months of swimming in an ocean of PUBG footage every single day, I'm calling it quits.:'(

This is a phrase we’ve been hearing a lot lately. Since we released PUBG as an Early Access game last year, the game has grown exponentially, and we’ve been fortunate enough to have millions of incredibly passionate players like you. However, we haven’t always been able to meet your expectations. Simply put, the game still has many unresolved issues.
The bottom line is, you’re the reason for our success. You’ve stuck with us, and now it's time for us to deliver the fixes you've been asking for.
That’s why today we’re announcing a new campaign called "FIX PUBG."[fix.pubg.com] For the duration of the campaign, we’ll be entirely focused on addressing problems with the game, including bugs, long-needed quality-of-life improvements, and fundamental performance improvements. Throughout this campaign we’ll share specifics about what we’re working on and the expected time it’ll take to address the issues. Then we’ll deliver on our promises.
FIRST THINGS FIRST
To kick things off right, we’re beginning the FIX PUBG campaign with a patch that hits live servers today. It includes several fixes and quality-of-life improvements that you’ve been asking for:
Limb penetration will be implemented (if a player model’s hands or limbs are blocking a more vital area, bullets will now deal full damage for that area).
Graphics “sharpening” will be added as separate slider in the settings.
You’ll be able to mute individual teammates while in-game.
Quality-of-life improvements are coming to colorblind mode.
Quality-of-life improvements are also coming to loot stack splitting (more control).
Vehicle sounds will be reduced when driving in first-person perspective.
You’ll be able to adjust your FPS cap (including by setting it to “uncapped”).
You’ll also be able to set your in-game FPS cap and lobby FPS cap separately.
Many of the improvements we’ll be making to the PC version will naturally be carried over to the Xbox version of the game as well. We’re committed to fixing problems for all our players.
FIX PUBG WILL CONTINUE
Of course, our dedication to improving PUBG will continue, even after the FIX PUBG campaign is over. For more info on upcoming changes, check out the FIX PUBG microsite[fix.pubg.com]. We’ll be updating it regularly as the campaign progresses.
