wayforward makes the occasional good game. they're ok. they're best at graphics more than anything else. contra 4 was good. play shantae if you want.

Shantae is good, yeah. Can't go wrong with them. The most recent two are different enough to check out both- The Pirate's Curse is a really good Metroidvania and 1/2 Genie Hero is more of a level-based platformer, although it does have some areas you can access with new abilities. Kinda Mega Man X-ish I guess.

The Mummy Demastered is another good Metroidvania from them. The Mighty Switch Force games are also worth checking out, but just wait for the collection coming soon. And Double Dragon Neon is a decent beat-em-up. River City Girls looks a lot better than that though.

Post by: bork on September 04, 2019, 11:38:40 PM: Legit good. The negative I've encountered so far is performance issues- it takes a hit on large areas. Doesn't affect gameplay thankfully, but you can tell the framerate has dropped.

It's very much a RCR game in that it's not a straight beat-em-up and you will be running around town doing things. When you're walking around, you can choose to fight or run past enemies, although it's worth fighting since you level up and get money. You get new moves when you level up and you can also go to the dojo run by one of the Double Dragons and buy special moves. So the more you play, the more the attacks you can do opens up and it plays better as you go along.

If you want a straight beat-em-up, this is not your game, but I think most people would expect that from this. :)

It's not tooo bad tho because you only have to go in once. And when you pause you can both go through your menus seperately so I'm not too triggered.

Might want to grind a bit until you're at least level 5. Only use light attack combos, so when she gets up and attacks, you'll have time to double-tap up or down to get out of the way. Dodging and running around to avoid her then hitting her when she's down will let you beat her pretty easily!

After you clear it, would recommend going back inside the school since you'll then be able to initiate a quest where you can find what you need inside the previously-locked rooms.
