you can't ever expect prices as cheap as the states here. it's a good thing mayn. food here is still p cheap, but there's still a problem and a huge disparity between what things cost and what people are willing to pay.

btw, i got an $8 kimchi and beef brisket taco from shepherd yesterday that was so stacked, their chicken mole one is great too. highly recommend. though they should divvy the filling out between two tacos. a lil' too stacked.

cost of living relative to the median wage is a lot higher here generally than the states.

Gotta factor in tax and tipping on US prices, so they are probably posting the equivalent of NZ$400 per taco.

Seriously Americans, I was expecting MUCH more. My friend Dylan who lives in L.A told me, with pride in his voice, that Taco Bell tasted bland but that he ate it weekly because the prices were, direct quote, "basically slavery".

Slavery never ended, they just turned it into minimum wage and saved on expenses like housing, health care and food.
It would be more expensive these days to keep a slave than just employ someone on the US minimum wage.

Singles are expensive, combos seem in line with US prices, so it's a wash.
