This and the Codemasters acquisition are to inflate their value and/or stave off interested parties. Last rumor I had heard around these parts was M$ had a near-site M&A company pushing a deal. The same group that got EA Play for Gamepass. Since then EA has been interested in seeking to not get sold for less than a certain undisclosed amount. Which is why M$ is going somewhere else most likely with their bags of cash.

that makes sense about codemasters, i didn't really see what ea would have wanted from them other than the Formula 1 license, its not like EA are the kind of company into adding a load of racing game series that are well regarded but aren't mega sellers into their portfolio.
