Yeah, like 3/4ths of my friends/family who got Pzifer/Moderna had 100F fevers and stuff for 24 hours after the second shot. The only person I know who didn't have that reaction was my dad, who had Covid last year and still had antibodies before the vaccine. Sounds rough.
I’ve heard some folks have a stronger reaction to the 1st dose because they were possibly already previously exposed to COVID-19 but not infected by it. Which usually means the second dose isn’t as severe. I know I’m feeling it already and it is affecting my respiratory system a little. No fever or anything else yet. Good time to rest a bit and do some reading.

In Houston there are lots of places allowing walk ins for any group. I’m assuming it’s when they have excess inventory that will expire as they’re random and sudden announcements. It’s pretty damn easy to get vaccinated if you just hunt around a bit.
I'll finally be eligible this coming Wednesday, so I scheduled my first Moderna dose for April 3rd. I'm guessing come Wednesday when 2 million more people in WA are eligible things are gonna get crazy. The place I'm going asked for a ton of info and said they'll turn you away if you're not eligible. Leftover doses in Seattle are really hard to get. I tried (in the city and in the suburbs both north and south of Seattle) all last week and struck out multiple times a day.

I've been refreshing the site periodically to keep a lookout for friends - if you don't mind a bit of a roadtrip, you can probably make it from NYC to Binghamton or Oneonta in a little over 3 hours. Too bad those are Pfizer and you'll need to repeat the trip in 3 weeks.

My second dose was scheduled at the same time as the first, so I'll find out on April 28th or a couple days after. I've had some friends and relatives get their asses kicked by the second dose and others who were totally fine.
Anecdotally I’m hearing that people who have had covid are generally experiencing worse side effects vs those that have not, if that tracks as accurate then it would essentially confirm for me that I had covid when I got super sick in January last year.

Two of my friends who are nurses have an old wives tale going around their circles that if you work out before getting your shot your side effects won't be as bad.I worked out right before both shots (mainly because I was worried I’d feel crappy after and not want to) and I had no real symptoms from either shot. So maybe!
This sounds like complete BS, since if you work out and your immune system is acting strong, you should have a stronger immune response and even worse side effects.
But gonna work out Monday morning before I go to the POD site just in case.

Was in the hospital for a regular colonoscopy checkup (fucking horrible), and the waiting room's TV showed news which was proudly announcing that the vaccines are rolling out for everyone 65 and older. My kids have all kinds of other things they’re attending to, but I should consider that as a possible plan. My wife is getting vaccinated as a healthcare professional this month. She has also petitioned the public health board on my behalf, telling them of my comorbidity problems and that if an American catches this and dies on their watch it will reflect poorly on them. Few things are greater motivators to a Japanese person.
It seems like the Japanese government is finally getting motivated to ramp up vaccinations. I have no idea how they thought they could do nothing during this, all the while promoting the Olympics. They look like idiots. Now I am seeing plans to have pharmacies and dentists admitted the vaccination, and a big spike in newly administered doses. I’m feeling some hope, but I still want to slap politicians.
If I am unable to get vaccinated by the first week of July, I will likely fly in its 2nd half.
