The alternative of monthly individual internet shows and Directs this past year wasn't exactly thrilling either. Even if E3 is bad (which it was more often than not), at least you can set your expectations right for the upcoming year's game lineup. In the current mode it's a bunch of small disappointments spread over twelve months. :doge
tbf I don't really care about who the corporation behind it is or even about the E3 banner itself, just as long as there's a gaming preview condensed into one clear week each year.

In real Nintendo fashion they will demo the game officially on "Switch", give out some vague Holiday 2021 (or 2022) release window. And while everyone can clearly see it likely isn't running on Switch they insist it is Switch.

The last guardian was one of the best ps4 games. FF7 Remake pretty decent, but fuck me, I miss turn based. Shenmue is pure unadulterated trash and always has been.

lol, when has ms not embarrassed themselves at these events in the last 10 years. not saying a gaming event with hype and fanfare to bring awareness to a wider audience isn't a good thing, but the presentation of e3 seems something companies should actively avoid being associated with the last few times i've watched it. pr nightmare waiting to happen with those muppets

Because of the pandemic it'll be hard to guess what will show up.
There's a bunch of projects cooking that should definitely be there but the question is if anyone wants to start the hype train on new products if they still need to clear out their development backlog.
For example would Microsoft show Perfect Dark or Starfield gameplay when HALO Infinite is yet to release? Or will Nintendo push Xenoblade 3 when Breath of the Wild 2 has not yet released?
At this point I expect we will mostly see updates on already announced games and things that were delayed as opposed to new announcements.

if m$ and the bethesdorks don't show any gameplay on announced games we haven't seen gameplay of yet (and a significant update on infinite) they will get shat on and further cement their competitors position as lol xbox has no games. might as well not show up
i would bet they will force a brief starfield or ES6 trailer with a touch of gameplay and something chunkier from obsidian on grounded and avowed. what else is coming to series exclusively? there's that warhammer game, but that's fairly niche. both consoles are light on content, but xbox has next to nothing rn.

Oh, I mean -in person-; it's always a hoot to just sit back and watch shit unfold. Back in the day you could just shoot the shit with everyone on the show floor and say hi to Kenji Eno and stuff and he'd be like "wtf why does this guy know who I am"

My favorite E3 was the only one they had in ATL ('97?). I somehow managed to get a free pass through my job at the time (fuckin EB.. boss was a bitch tyrant). They had MGS1 on the floor with camo'd out booth babes ehrwhere. If I didn't have to run to work later that day, my fresh outta high school self would've been several sheets to the wind, trying to take one of them home with me. :doge

This year, assuming we do not encounter another global crisis by June, Nintendo will return with another full-scale general Direct showcase. Microsoft, meanwhile, will package together Xbox and Bethesda into a back-to-back showcase with games like Halo and potentially a new Forza and Bethesda’s spacefaring role-playing adventure Starfield.

With a recent, other supposed leak about Dragon's Dogma 2 possibly being revealed/teased this year, along with an inevitable full BOTW2 trailer, this could very well shape up to be an exciting year for me. If not E3, then the VGA's possibly? By far my most anticipated games this "gen". :hyper :doggy

S tier FF game so far tbh. Better than the original. I see Dunkeys critique with shit like moving those dumb hands, but also, took me 10 mins to run through that part and was pretty inoffensive compared to many of the arduous puzzles in FF games where you're constantly harassed with random battles
