My degenerate gambler Filipino in-laws have been bugging me and the wife to come to Vegas for a while now.  If it's not around Labor Day or the first weekend of NFL, I might be down.  I have a lot of reward points from MyVegas to burn and I haven't been out there since June of last year.  Sucks that my favorite restaurant (Burger Bar in Mandalay Bay) closed though.

There are still a few good burger places around but I am not sure about that side of the strip.

the Ramsey place BURGR at p-ho always has a line, but seems a bit overpriced and we've never tried.

the pricing at some of these places is close to what the high end steakhouses charge.

Sis and I are big Ramsay fans, been to the Steakhouse every time and never been let down (it's $$$ tho), planning and excited to hit the Burger one too this year. :D

I've been to the Ramsay steakhouse in Paris and Hell's Kitchen in Caesar's, both are spendy but very good.

The Burger Bar had a burger that was like $60, but I would rank it along with some of the best meals I've ever had.  Kobe-style Wagyu Beef from Australia, sautéed foie gras and shaved truffle.  And the fries are the best I've ever had.  I don't really drink any more, but they also had an awesome selection of Belgian ales to go along with the meal.

I originally went there because of an episode of No Reservations where Bourdain admitted that he couldn't make fries (which were his claim to fame when he was staring out as a head chef) better.  The place was created by Hubert Keller, who most of the big-name chefs look up to, who wanted to have a more casual place.

yep, all of Keller's stuff got the boot last year or year before I think? We liked Burger Bar but had a terrible meal at Fleur.

I liked the Ramsey steakhouse, but too much other stuff to try to go back. We really liked Carnevino that used to be over at Palazzo, they used to have glorious burgers made from leftover bits of prime steak that you could grab at the bar.

Old Homestead at Caesar's was fantastic last time in.

I think it was sometime last year, they weren't open when I was there in June, but I never asked about it.  I spent most of my limited time there in dingy-ass Slots-A-Fun drinking cheladas and playing Rolling Thunder.  The "fanciest" I got was breakfast at the Peppermill.

I’m gonna be in Vegas in June for just one day doing something for a few hours, I’ve got a question. What kind of stuff should I focus on with just a day being there? They are putting me up in the new Cosmopolitan for a night. I gotta be in LA the next day for another thing so I can’t stay out too late with all the driving.

I’m thinking Secret Pizza, Momofuku Milkbar, Area15 (Omega Mart,) and Pinball Hall of Fame.

The PHOF is very cool.  I want to check out their new location next time I'm in Vegas.

Momofuku has some of the best noodles I've ever had.  Pretty reasonable process for a strip restaurant also.

I haven't eaten at Secret Pizza because there's always a ridiculous wait to get in when I've been in the area.  Sorry, don't care how good a pizza is, I'm not waiting 2 hours to get a seat.

If you like buffets, Wicked Spoon is a little spendy ($55) but very good quality.

Eggslut is a dumb name but excellent breakfast sandwiches.

The Cosmo is next the Bellagio, so you can go there and see the fountain show or the conservatory if you want something free to do.

Across the street from there is Paris, you can go up the Eiffel Tower, I forget how much it costs, but it's a nice view.

About a block north is the Linq, they have a promenade with lots of bars/restaurants and the High Roller observation wheel and zipline.

New York has a decent arcade and a roller coaster that goes in and outside of the casino.

You will probably want to leave Vegas pretty early.  I-15 to LA can get very backed up and a 4 hour drive can become twice that.

porkbun answered. no seats at hidden pizza, it's def not secret. depending on when you go may not be much line, it's def worth it but wouldn't wait too long for anything (same for eggslut). 

I heard Omega Mart is awesome and we are hitting it in a few weeks. If only in town for a night I wouldn't try and pack too much in, would pick area15 or pinball HOF.

I’ve been upgraded, our hotel needed our room to lock a floor down. So now I got a second night to do whatever the fuck I want in Vegas, hell yeah! Sorry I’ll be missing you folks in September. Looks like I’ll get to do everything I wanted and then some. Got a packed trip ahead of me, and then it’s off to LA/Disneyland right after.

I’ve got a choice between two places for food that I’m having a fight over. I want to hit up a local joint and I’ve got two that I’m interested in. Nacho Daddy and Rolling Smoke BBQ. I’m thinking that choosing the closest one to us is the best option, which would be Nacho Daddy at PH.

I might try and get behind the wheel of some fast cars or go blow some shit up while I’m there along with the other things I was interested in. Thanks for all the suggestions!

I survived 130 degrees in Baker CA this last week, my rental car didn’t. Vegas was interesting and I don’t get it after going there. The food is amazing and well worth it, but the rest of the strip is shit! Had to get a second rental car that literally got me 99mpg to 10 mpg, a Nissan Kicks with no UV protection in the glass. We got to LA and we both were lobsters.

We had some transcendent food at Momofuku, where I got the steak with truffle creamed potatoes and the missus got truffle ramen. But they had this poke dish that was made with ho-toro tuna, pine nuts, and then topped off with this shaved foie gras that is frozen with a mix of Japanese sweet strawberries. I tell you when we mixed that together and had some it was sex in my mouth! If you go there get that dish its under the raw bar.

Super enjoyed the Secret Pizza too, but the line was unreal. We waited almost 2 hours for pizza, it was worth that wait. It was hella busy everywhere we went. So I hope you all get to enjoy the crowds because they are crazy over there in LV.

it is tempting to go. would be healthy to get out and around people. not so easy having someone else fill in with mom while I'm away. it's a struggle for everyone else to do what I've been doing by myself the last few years. it's always like that with any job I've ever had, I end up doing the work that 3 or more people should be doing.
