I have a new phone, which means all my apps are updated ad all my previous notification settings are gone.
And these little fuckers have no shame.
Uber: Why don't you go out today?
Netflix: Want to watch something?
Google Maps: Review a restaurant!
Holy shit they're incessant. And yet, I select no notifications but I don't remember asking them a goddamn thing.
No, your sudoko app should not have a "news" category and FUCK "other".

Is there a way to block my internet browser from ever asking me again?

I approve of this thread. Notifications suck.
-
boomer computers are always full of these notifications every time, they're the modern pop up and absolutely malware

Is there a way to block my internet browser from ever asking me again?
chrome://settings/content/notifications
Don't allow sites to send notifications
remove any existing ones too

I like when you turn off all the notifications so they dream up a new type of notification to spam you with about something completely fucking pointless.

Ok I found the setting but is there anyone on earth that wants notifications when they browse The Verge dot com?
Almost as bad as those "subscribe to our newsletter" popups on every article on the internet.
Bitch no one has ever liked newsletters.

those are for signing up your enemies

imagine browsing the verge

Where else do you examine how technology will change life in the future for a massive mainstream audience?

Instagram was telling me that "x has a new story" and I told it to never notify me again ("stories")
Apparently theres a separate notification category (reminders) where they package in "bob, bill, and phil have new stories"
FUUUUUUCK YOOOOUUUUUUU
-
when your phone becomes your nanny... nani? :rogan
-
The problem I’m seeing is that you’re following bob, bill, and phil instead of big tiddy goth thots :nothot
-
If I had "fuck notifications" setup for you guys, I'd never get any amirite :rodney
-
thanks for notifying us btw :doge
-
thebore.com would like to send you notifications
"ignore"
somewhere in your settings select notifications, disable prompt / always decline. never think about notifications again. such a fucked feature idk how it got started but I haven't thought about it for a long time lol

I have gone into my notifications and carefully trimmed almost every single one of them.
A friend of mine who used to work in the state department recently changed jobs and was able to turn off all notifications. All of them. No exceptions. He looks so at peace with his life, it made me jealous.
During a recent game development project, my boss openly called me out for not having my notifications on when I did not respond to after-hours @-tags when I was off the clock. This boss considers anything other than absolute compliance with his whims to be “backtalk.“ So I quietly agreed, turned on notifications, and began looking for a new job.
You don’t quit a job, you quit bad managers.
-
I'd be sending vaguely work related questions to him after hours that require him to answer...every night.
-
R/malicious_compliance is one of my new favorite things, but I just try and stay operating professionally rather than revenge. I’m certain that it will serve me better in the long run.
