Witcher 1 Remake will be the next big game from CD Project Red. :brain

witcher 4 would be dope. witcher 1 would also be dope. give me.
feel like they're going to be working on cyberpunk for a long time though. there's going to be a lot of updates and dlc. i really enjoyed cyberpunk, but im not fussed about DLC for it. the late game was a bit shite tbh. maybe they will release something incredible / improve the lategame blood and wine style, who knows. i would just rather they return to the witcher series personally, and i would prefer witcher 4 over a reissue of 1. let bygones be bygones imo
there's be at least 1 big planned dlc for cyberpunk to unlock additional levels and that blocked skill tree

I feel like with W3 being so popular and the Witcher blowing up on netflix, CDPR will go the cowards path and just redo Witcher 1. They'll be too scared to leave Geralt behind.
I like the idea of a Witcher 4 set further back in the past where the player can pick their witcher school, create their character and have different origin stories.
-
Remake probably, easier way to make some $$$
I think CDPR is headed for acquisition lane anyway.

I could see them doing Witcher 1 Remake as a stop-gap in the next couple of years. Witcher 4, if they've even started on it yet, is at least 4 years away.

Witcher 1 would be faster, since a huge amount of content (artwork, storyline, locations, characters etc.) already exists. So they would 'just' have to re-code it.
Mind you, given their issues as of recently, I'm a bit leery of calling it a slam dunk.

i imagine any witcher 1 remake would be (largely) outsourced

It would be supremely ironic if they outsource it to one of the smaller Polish studios staffed with ex-CDPR crew.
-
Witcher 1 remake will almost certainly be the test bed for engine improvements they plan to use in Witcher 4.

I don't think you realize how big CDPR is and its position within the market.
They literally just bought somebody else today actually.
-
I guess we'll only know once they're done fixing Cyberpunk. In 2077.

like I said, they were headed for acquisition lane.
I think they're going to put some distance between the game development and publishing arm of the company to prevent another Cyberpunk 2077 situation from happening and move on to become 'too big to fail' as a publisher.
If you muddle the waters with branded studios like 'Wolf Lair Studios' or '2077 Studios', than a development fuck up of a single project won't hit you as hard.
Now patch releases (or a lack thereof) had an immediate and significant effect on the stock price, which is not something you want as a publisher.

It's funny you mention that. CDPR almost went under after outsourcing a rebuilt Witcher 1/remake for consoles (called "Rise of the White Wolf") back in 2008/9.

I'd love a Witcher 1 remake - while the first game was super jank, it seemed to improve as you go, and had some real unique ideas that set it apart from the myriad of other medieval western RPGs. The Slavic fairytale influence in the later chapters, the interesting detective quest in chapter 2, the way the villain was introduced and how you effectively 'groom' the villain. Much improved battle system, fast travel, less filler quests, expand on a few story details, less backtracking through that goddamn swamp...
