How to peacefully resolve the conflict in the Middle East. How current AI forward social media was trained on the old internet; why we see repeating trends, memes, and characters. A rap poem Lin Manuel Miranda helped me write for every single member. Notes of support to keep the forum afloat by the UN as the first digital UNESCO world heritage site. But the site threw up an error and it all got deleted.

site still brings plenty of laughs. you just have to not be an uptight piss baby caught up in identity politics. trans people are not right about everything, you are allowed to disagree with them just like anyone else. it isn't genocide to say they have an unfair advantage in competitive sports against natural born women. it isn't transphobic/genocidal if natural born women are uncomfortable sharing locker rooms or restrooms with them. that doesn't mean we want trans people to die or be wiped out.
natural born women are the ones who should be deciding these things for themselves, not anybody else.
the mental healthcare professionals who work with kids struggling with gender identity issues are finding that it's often internalized homophobia that pushes children to claim they are trans. kids don't have everything figured out and providing permanent solutions to temporary confusion is the wrong answer.

I made a couple example threads just to test things, as people make the threads like "what are you playing?", random talk thread, the movies thread or whatever I'll sticky them or not. The emoticons are in a bit of a mess at the moment as I mass imported, they're all on the server but a number of them I need to go through and match the codes to here for so they aren't available in the pop-up. (Which I'll probably need to edit since it's made for a normal amount of them.) Most other things should work as intended, though I know a few things are missing and I already have some plugins. I installed no themes or anything like that. I'm posting this now in part because I can't test the likes by myself and we all know that's essential. Other features to add/disable/etc. we can discuss over there.
If bork, Joe and demi sign up I'll make them moderators just because even if they don't want to do anything. (I probably should recreate the Icon status just in case anyone ever comes back by accident or out of personal despair.) Anyone else we can discuss down the road.
Yes, I know the newsfeed only shows up on the main page. I looked at the template and it's supposed to be there. I don't have all the newsfeed items I know because the one long one about sleepovers or whatever never turned up for me to copy/paste.
I'm unfortunately not going to be available to refresh constantly out of anxiety for much of today so please don't post too much illegal content or try to crash the server with exploits. And most definitely do not use problematic uncouth language.

Hey. I wanted to say that you kicking me from the discord was one of the best things to happen in my life. Losing friends I talked to for a decade plus was a real eye opener. I was mad for a while but it made me come face to face with the fact I was a piece of shit and how much I neglected in my life, most of all my own mental well being. It made me less terminally online, made me realize I lacked gratitude, and ultimately made me come to terms with how I treated people, and that i used online forums in lieu of therapy for the longest. I'm still a work in progress but the first step to recovery is admitting there's a problem.
I hope everything is great in your life. No hard feelings here and I thank you for it. You were doing me a favor and despite whatever you guys think me of me I still love each and every one of you.

I also want to say that I understand why the Bork and the others just want this site to end. You get to a certain point in your life where you just no longer want to continue doing something you've been doing for years or be associated with something you used to spend a lot of time on. Life's too short for that. While I don't believe The Bore devolved as badly as NeoGAF did during the Trump years, I'd be lying if I said I never saw posts here that drifted far too close to Kiwifarms-like mockery and outright bigotry. And I'm guilty of engaging in that as well. But that also doesn't mean all the mockery done here over the years was unreasonable or too mean. Some stuff said online deserves to be mocked and laughed at. Just be cognizant of your actions and don't fall into being the caricature you used to make fun of.

Being an adult, not having to deal with school and doing adult shit is fun but man...I used to space my classes out specifically so I could waste hours in the computer lab on campus. Get home, hop on The Bore (and GAF). Play some WoW. Head out, walk down the block to Dominos, come back with a pizza. Watch some movies with my roommates. Hop back on The Bore. Play WoW or StarCraft and boom it's already 3AM and I'm still fucking around on the computer. :lol

When Wrath invited me in 2011, even though I didn't know what would happen with GAF I had a feeling I was gonna get perma'd soon. Instead of letting that happen, I felt so comfortable here I just stopped posting cold turkey. From a pathetic 200+ posts a day to 0. I felt kinda proud about that.
I started posting here way too much but it felt more manageable. The dopamine hits of replies (and later, likes) was more spread out.
This place had a reputation before I joined and I knew what I was getting into. The first few years I gladly accepted being the Nintendo punching bag. Eventually, I grew, and the board grew, and I felt a lot more comfortable here.
I remember posting about landing a job in Boston half a year after I joined. I couldn't legally drink and I didn't even have a driver's license. I was so scared. This place really helped put me at ease -- this is the most "adult" board I've been apart of, both the XXX kind and the sagely-advice kind. Meeting ShoNuff (and a friend from my own personal forum) at PAX East 2012 was the first time I ever connected my online life to my "real life."

Meeting Sho Nuff was fun. Basically walked up to the booth and started chatting with the demo guy, trying to discern if he was Sho out of the three guys there. After hearing about the game and learning more about it, I figured it was a 70/30 shot.
"So I have to say, I think this game really really really sucks." Confusion on his face.
"I wouldn't even post about it on The Bore."
It dawns on him :P More expert IRL trolls probably could have done more but I got my moment in.
Sho, it was fun talking with you! I don't know if I'll be able to play the game when it comes out, maybe on Windows 8 but I'm trying to switch to Linux... Aside from that I'm not a huuuuuge TBS fan. Sounds like you have a great buzz going though (two E3s running come later this year I'm sure.)
Before my sisters, before my parents, before any other online community, The Bore was the first place I came out as gay. In the leadup to this I had been joining in with The Bore's signature homoeroticism (which was far more intense 10 years ago, maybe we just got too old lol) when Wrath made a joke about me being gay. I said "fuck it" and basically said "Yeah so what?" The acceptance I got here directly led to my coming out on Facebook later that year, and my parents a few years after that.

When bebpo first started talking about "Bore-Con" in early 2014 (http://www.thebore.com/forum/index.php?topic=41316.0) I was like, "Pfft yeah like I'd ever do something like that." Two years later I was booking my flight to Vegas to meet bebps and Kara. That was a pretty huge moment in my life honestly. I had flown twice before, both to California for business-y reasons and Vegas was something entirely different. I was so scared flying out there by myself… I've gone back to Vegas every September since then (except for 2020). It's now something I look forward to every year, and it wouldn't have happened without this place.

The three of us talking about the Sega Saturn at a fancy restaurant while drinking absinthe for an hour then fending off some rando drug dealer at Planet Hollywood’s hotel bar at 3am is still my top Bore-Con memory. A close second is leaving the Stratosphere to get weed two blocks away with my sis, CatsCatsCats and shosta and the neighborhood had no street lights but people were chilling on the lawn like it was the afternoon, eyeing us as we walked through. That might have been the night I kicked bebpo’s half-asleep ass at Mario Kart after which shosta, at 4am and after having consumed much drink and edibles, said “I have to go to my job in 2 hours do you think I’ll be OK??” To which my sister flatly replied, “Nope.”
This is all to say nothing of the links, news articles, and media this place exposed me to that I never would have found otherwise. For better or worse.
I always had the impression demi never liked me very much so for the last couple years I've been pretty cold towards him, but mea culpa demi: I don't have anything against you and I hope you live your best life.

I want to thank so many people that were on this site. When I was desperately suicidal and in a very bad way, Esch and Awesome-O were there for me. Glen has helped me out so many times. Esch hired me for a logo job when I really needed the money at one point. Awesome-O has helped bail me out. They're good guys with good hearts, so many of you. This site is full of curmudgeons but it's all love, really, and I will be eternally grateful. You guys have tolerated so much of my shit! :lol Sorry that I'm such a handful. :)

My first was Tokyopia.com which was a collection of expat devs, with many of whom I'm still in touch.
Then DCharlie and Cormacaroni invited me to EvilBore which became this. They've long since bailed, but I liked it enough to stay. I've made real-world friends here.
And now this is shutting down, with some peeps moving to a new iteration of it.
Who knew an ill-tempered bunch of NeoGAF splitters would outlast that site?
I like almost everyone here, with very few exceptions. It's been a nice place to be, and thanks for helping make it a nice spot.

I made a couple example threads just to test things, as people make the threads like "what are you playing?", random talk thread, the movies thread or whatever I'll sticky them or not. The emoticons are in a bit of a mess at the moment as I mass imported, they're all on the server but a number of them I need to go through and match the codes to here for so they aren't available in the pop-up. (Which I'll probably need to edit since it's made for a normal amount of them.) Most other things should work as intended, though I know a few things are missing and I already have some plugins. I installed no themes or anything like that. I'm posting this now in part because I can't test the likes by myself and we all know that's essential. Other features to add/disable/etc. we can discuss over there.
If bork, Joe and demi sign up I'll make them moderators just because even if they don't want to do anything. (I probably should recreate the Icon status just in case anyone ever comes back by accident or out of personal despair.) Anyone else we can discuss down the road.
Yes, I know the newsfeed only shows up on the main page. I looked at the template and it's supposed to be there. I don't have all the newsfeed items I know because the one long one about sleepovers or whatever never turned up for me to copy/paste.
I'm unfortunately not going to be available to refresh constantly out of anxiety for much of today so please don't post too much illegal content or try to crash the server with exploits. And most definitely do not use problematic uncouth language.
