Anything would be better than Eastwood's trainwreck of a movie

it's official: you can never discuss cinema again
you are, dare i say it
unforgiven

It saddens me that you guys adore such mediocre film. Unforgiven is a bad movie, and one of the worst Westerns I've ever seen

Out of the 4 westerns you've seen, right?

I've seen more than 5 :punch
-
Does that mean you've seen...6?
Please, PD, name the westerns you've seen.
-
if you can't appreciate unforgiven for what it is -- a wonderful contradiction and deconstruction of the western genre with some brilliant acting turns and memorable dialogue -- i pity you
i still prefer the good the bad and the ugly, but i find so very little to reproach unforgiven for
-
unforgiven is metorcer. I liked the quick and the dead better!!!
still Butch, no name, roaster, mclinktock (love this movie) all way way way way better

If you can't spell mediocre, you can't CALL things mediocre.

No its my own word. It means slightly less than mediocre.

I saw the proposition on my first date with my girlfriend.

I saw the proposition on my first date with my girlfriend.
That has NOTHING TO DO WITH ANYTHING.

I've seen more than this, but here's a quick list:
Once Upon a Time in the West
The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly
Fist Full of Dollars
For a Few Dollars More
Fist Full of Dynamite
Unforgiven
The Cowboys
Rooster Cogburn
True Grit
Big Jake
The Sons of Katie Elder
The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance
Rio Lobo
High Noon
Shane
The Shootist
Gunfight at the O.K. Corral
Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid
Stagecoach
I've seen many more than that, but I'd have to find a list or something to remember everything

Okay, dude, and did you understand that many of those movies dealt with issues bigger than some guy coming into a frontier town and kicking ass and shooting people? That there were bigger themes at hand? The problem with your Unforgiven review is that it's nothing more than a surface reading of the film (and not a particularly good one at that). The movie dealt with a number of issues endemic to the Western genre and American history, and you didn't grasp ANY of them.

It's not that I didn't grasp them - it's that none of them impressed me. I know Westerns are more than shoot em up films. That list includes a few such as The Cowboys which are quite different than what you might consider the "stereotypical" Western.

No, perhaps YOU don't understand, Ichirou! Clint Eastwood's acting was HORRIBLE, it would've been better had his character been played by TOM CRUISE who can handle the SUBTLE NUANCES of emotional acting. There was no BACKSTORY, and it was a MEAN film. It had no HERO or COMIC RELIEF, like say, a WILL SMITH. That would've made Unforgiven better.

Your logic has utterly destroyed me. I'll try to redeem myself by watching Wild Wild West at least three times this weekend. :(
