Buying birthday presents is such a pain (DS owners enter)
« on: September 19, 2006, 01:52:57 AM »
So its a kids birthday soon that i know and am close to. He's gonna turn 12 so i thought i'd get him some DS games. But his mother called me and told me to pick one game from a list of ones he wants. I was gonna get all four of the games cause i'm a nice guy. But the mom is being a bitch and told me i'm only allowed to give the kid one.

Since when did parents who dont even stay with their disabled kid for more than 3 hours a week get the right to tell me what i can and cant get the fucking kid? I guess they are telling other relatives the same shit. Me i'm a little peved cause i dont think its cool to tell me what to get the fucking kid. I want to be nice for his birthday so i should be allowed too be nice.

Now i'm pissed cause i have to choose what the kid gets.

List of games he wants:

Starfox Command
Megaman ZX
Pokemon Mystery Dungeon
Dragon Quest (whatever the fuck it is)

I need some help choosing the game he's gonna get. I'm gonna get him a debit card and put money on it so he can buy some porn or something online for all i care. He's mom pissed me off royaly.

Anyone with opinions about those games i'd like to hear it. And yes i know Megaman ZX is god. But i dont know much if he'll play it all the way through.

I'm his sponsored guardian, which means i take him out into the real world a few times a week. His parents only see him on sundays after church. Thats the only time they spend with him. Hell his birthday is on friday but they are waiting till sunday to have his birthday party.

Demi: first you score pictures of mellissa nude and then we'll talk about what to get you big boy for your 21st birthday.

I should note that i was the one who bought him his ds, fuck i just got him a new black DS to go with his new leather jacket that he wanted.

So basically this is a "recommend me some DS games" thread disguised as a rant about relatives? Suuuure....  ;)

As a parent, I'd be pissed if you didn't follow my household rules. Nobody wants a spoiled kid and that's what you're doing -- spoiling him so YOU can feel like you're some kind of awesome uncle or whatever. He'll be as happy with one game as he would with four, but by giving him four, you vastly increase his expectations from his own parents. The mom is doing the right thing, and you're deliberately contradicting her for your own selfish reasons. Boo.

Starfox Command

You're doing him a favor not getting him this game, as well. It's unbelievably rancid, and it'd turn him into a furry, to boot.

Don't be a dick. This kid obviously needs the love and attention his parents won't give him from somebody else.

You're right. :(  ZomBz is obviously the best self-selected choice to play surrogate parent. I'm a jerk.

I dunno, when I lived in North Dakota I was allowed like two games and an old gameboy. This was back when I was like 12 mind you. ANYWAY, these three items were sent by my mom, my dad and stepmom wouldnt let me watch much tv or play videogames, but they let me keep my gameboy.

I played the living FUCK out of Nemesis and Ducktales. I got so much out of those games because I didnt have anything else. In retrospect im sorta glad. I recently re-bought ducktales gb, nostalgia ftw.

See whiteACID gets it, the mom and dad dont give him nearly enough attention and the boy talks about how they never come see him more often when i'm there. I've tried talking with the parents about it but they dont care they continue the schedual of coming ever sunday. EVEN WHEN ITS THE KIDS birthday.

It make me sad, so i try to make it up to him cause i cant get his parents there on his birthday. Fuck last time he had to go into the hospital for an emergency they didnt even show up. I did though, thats what i'm their for support. I maybe fucked as hell in my own life but i take real pride in what i've been doing for the past few months.

And whats wrong with starfox? DQ got a good write up on IGN, waiting on pokemon reviews then i guess i'll decided from that. I'm gonna try and take him out on his birthday and let him spend that debit card i was talking about. But i still have to choose the game before wednesday stupid fucking mom.

ZomBz, buying the kid nice toys isn't going to make up for the lack of attention he gets at home. You're doing more damage than you seem to realize, man... :-\

Well i got the right to take him out on his birthday, so i'm gonna take him shopping at the mall. And i got him Dragon Quest cause it looked like the best choice for some reason. The problem was that i was already buying all the games for myself or girl so it was hard to decide on just one.
