Anyone have any interest in gaming-related goods like posters, toys, and such? During nerd-out sessions, I sometimes head over to recycle shops and buy the little capsule toys and trading figures based on game characters if I find them. One of my friends that was here is a toy nut and got me into it. If you search, you can often find stuff that's very easy to sell to ~~suckers~~ people on the internet for a nice little profit. He really cashed in on the Transformers movie; they had a promotion at a convenience store chain with an exclusive Bumblebee toy you get for 4000 yen with a movie ticket. He bought a bunch and made $25 on each one on eBay.

But it's almost impossible to find something that's not perverse and a non-female character. I found a figure for Alex from SF3 from a Capcom Fighting Jam set and couldn't fucking believe it! The creepy "otaku" near me gave me a weird look too. I guess I'm strange for not wanting Moe/Loli statues to jizz on. One time I asked a clerk at a store if they sold any MALE figures. You know, like Ryu, Haohmaru, that kind of thing. "No." I asked why, and she just shook her head, smiled, and said "I don't know why either."

I have to say, running into real otaku in shops is so fucking scary. They scuttle about like cockroaches and run in and out of the porn sections to buy the latest copy of the "loli sister tentacle rape 23" anime.

I found these cool little NES diorama-like scenes from games, with a button you push for music or sounds from the game. Balloon Fight Balloon Trip music!! And the Street Fighter II sound drops are fun, too. Especially E. Honda, which goes "HUN HUN HUN HUN HUN HUN HUN" every time you press it.

Often times, I can see into the porn sections of stores from across a counter. I want to get one of the ad posters they have for various hentai PC games, put it up behind the door in the bathroom, and wait for my wife's reaction.

I've looked for Bubble Bobble toys for demi, too. I've never seen any either. I used to think Gachapin toys were Bubble Bobble stuff, cuz he kinda looks like them.

Yeah, sorry Demi, I'd like to help, but unless you want various female characters in swimsuits and/or perverted poses, there's really not much else I can find, toy-wise. I...I...even bought some myself.

Maybe if a Bubble Bobble hentai rape anime gets made, it will be easier to find them.

I saw some Shin Megami Tensei trading figures that looked cool. There's even a Jack Frost toy!

Yeah, I was always under the impression was that a neat and organized game/console collection was OK with the ladies, but action figures and posters are a definite "no-no". I have a couple game related figurines but none of them are displayed, aside from a framed Devil Summoner lithograph autographed by Kaneko.

Naw, she doesn't mind, cuz she knows I'm just a fanboy and it's just me nerding out over my hobby. I find the extremely perverted pose toys laughable, and I have bought a few. I also say to my wife "Only in Japan!" The hentai ones are just fucking disgusting, but fortunately shops don't carry that shit.

My friend's wife actually loves the perverted toys and wants to buy some for herself. When she comes over, she goes and feels up the female character toys I have.

Yeah, she doesn't mind and likes some of the posters I have put up (I got one for Planet Terror recently), but then I don't have much of this stuff. It's not like my living room is littered with toys and posters. Just the top of my computer desk and the top of a book shelf I keep my games in. I wish I had more space; I'd rather have a separate "nerd room" for all my gaming crap to be in and get it out of her way.

With gaming, the only issue she has ever had came up after we got married and she moved in-- television time. I was prepared for this and got a small TV for the bedroom plus gave her my capture card to watch TV on her PC, but she got pissy when I wanted to play Bioshock a few days ago, and she wanted to watch something I downloaded on the PC off the TV. That's pretty much it...I don't play games when both of us have free time, unless she says it's fine and is reading a book or something.

Taito is somewhat popular but the Bubble Bobble dinos aren't, for some reason. I haven't forgotten my promise, I still look for Bubble Bobble stuff whenever I'm shopping for stuff.

I think NCS sells them, yeah. Those dots are usually at electronics stores, so it's easy to go see what they have when going for a new game or movie.

I want the Balloon Fight dots. :'(

I'm really big on Mega Man but finding quality Mega Man stuff in the US is hard. I've been looking at getting some of the Jazwares action figures since they're fairly cheap and supposedly officially licensed by Capcom. Also those Bandai model kits for the X series seem pretty sweet but I've only found a few for sale in the US.

Posters are a fuckin' rarity here, it seems. I can barely find anything; the few I have were from pre-ordering or purchasing games on release day. I found a few older ones at a recycle shop (this place is gold for older gaming systems and gear...they have tons and tons of games going back to the Famicom days). Can't seem to find anything else in stores. I need to start asking stores if I can have their pre-release game posters after they're finished with them. I like the Samurai Warriors 2 XL one...

All those wall scrolls and posters you can get at American comic shops come from Hong Kong, I think.

Back home at my old job we had a PC FX traded in once. I borrowed it and a few of the games, and was less than impressed.

I've got a bunch of trading figures here in my office at the elementary school: dragoon and black mage Final Fantasy III DS trading figs; some of the Mario Kart pull-back racer (Bowser and Peach) gashapons from last summer; a Scherazad trading figure from Escaflowne; some Zeta Gundam character figures; an Amuro Ray 0079 trading figure; Zidane (FFIX) and Selphie (FFVIII) trading figures; Freya, Arngrim and Lezard Valkyrie Profile trading figures; two Tales of the Abyss trading figures, and a bunch of random Gundam trading figures.

They're great ice breakers with a lot of the students I work with, actually. Especially the Mario Kart racers.

I'd also kill for a FF6 style Moogle plushie. Oh and on one website I saw pictures of these keychains I think for all the different jobs in FF5. They were modeled after the SD art style for the game. Kinda cool but probably impossible to find. The other thing I tried to get into were these Mario Party beanie dolls, but Play-Asia sold out of them fast. I only ended up with Mario :/
