i now have over 2GB of music -- that's two gigabytes of tool and matchbox 20! -- and with the battery expiring on my old tired nano, it is time to upgrade! guess what i am *not* getting, fegs:

I'll toss it in the box with the RAM, which i was supposed to send yesterday but didn't because the in-laws wanted to go to an AWESOME ITALIAN DINNER. consider it a bonus for your patience. it's a little scratched, and the battery's been drained a few times, but it'll do fine. you buy your own earbuds. i'll include the charge cable and software.

As an Apple whore, I would just like to comment that I think it's absolute bullshit they made it so you can't use any ol' headphone-to-VGA cable to display video, now you HAVE to buy an Apple approved product. LAME.

You can get a pair of Sony NUDE/Fontopia for about $30

Don't spend less than that on earphones

I used NUDE/Fontopia earphones exclusively for about 4 years, they are the bomb diggity of mid-priced earphones. It took me 20 seconds of listening to the pair my brother had bought before I went and bought my own, immediately, no questions asked.

The Shure's are slightly better (especially at noise blocking) but they're a somewhat significantly higher pricepoint.

too much mac use in middle and high school soured me on apple products completely for life.

That, and I can't stand some of the iPod's UI elements in the menus-like most apple products, my way of thinking how data should be organized, displayed, and described is completely different than how apple thinks it should be done. Also, iTunes is a pile of dreck on Windows, it doesn't even remotely feel like a native windows application.

but it's just janky as all hell. I run dual monitor and if iTunes is maximized it /impacts the frame rate/ of any game I'm running. how is that possible, it's tables.

The 16GB iPod Touch is like $400 too. Way too much!

Also, the 3G iPod Nano owns my face. I've already encoded an MPEG4 vid for it. The screen is small, sure but being able to carry around (in my case) a family video in my pocket to show off to other family members is just...FUTURISTIC. Seriously, the lil' screen is great quality.

I'm not sure people really comprehend how small and slim this little fucker is. If you've seen the pics I've posted of it, its essentially smaller than a Credit Card and real, real thin.

I'm using the bud earphones it came with...I seriously need to buy some Sony ones.

I have my 4G Monochrome Click wheel still working after dropping it twice. The thing I've always disliked about the iPod was lack of bass not sure if they fixed that.
