Willco, your Taxi Driver hate makes me lose some love for you

Its my favorite Scorsese, bar none. And Mean Streets is fucking fantastic. Everyone knows Taxi Driver and Raging Bull and Goodfellas, but Mean Streets is arguably more influential than any of them, though people dont always notice. It set the template for these type of films.

Anyways, theres still some Marty I need to see, but from what I have seen:

Almost any scene with Nicholson was killer, IMO. The porno theater (a big black dildo?

), the hand at the dinner table, asking the restuarant owner's daughter if she's had her period yet... hilarious.

Yup, Jack was golden. Lots of people thought he just chewed scenery, and was way over the top, but personally I thought he struck just the right chord with me. I could totally buy into him as this aging mob boss who is starting to come loose at the seams. He was so perfectly erratic and random. And fucking hilarious. Its a toss up for me between who was the funniest, Jack or Wahlberg.

Jack had me dying laughing when he was trying to communicate with the Chinese guys.

Wahlberg and Baldwin made so much out of so little roles. So did Martin Sheen. Hell, this was the most impressive across the board ensemble cast Ive seen in a while. Everyone rocked it.

The Departed was awesome, but it's not better than Mo Gan Do/Infernal Affairs.

IA was more deeply nuanced and frankly Andy Lau out acted Damon. IA has more shades of grey and less clear cut good vs evil.

Departed was more exciting, but IA was smarter.

I just saw the pen scene on YouTube...I could barely watch that ugh

I remember seeing a pen scene in the movie when it was shown on TV, and it was different. He stabs him in the windpipe once or something, and the guys falls on the floor making these wierd breathing sounds.

Finally saw this for the first time....HOLY FUCK IT JUST BLEW MY FACE OUT THE BACK OF MY HEAD (much like many of the characters in the movie). So many great scenes, so many great lines. I was on the edge of my seat for basically the whole movie. And the last 20 minutes or so...words cannot describe the awesomeness. The only complaint I can think of is that Comfortably Numb cover...I will probably skip that scene when I watch on DVD.

The best movie I have seen all year BY FAR. One of the Scorcese's best.
